Why didn't the Allies bomb Auschwitz

Gwenick · 23/01/2005 12:34

Just read this link

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4175045.stm

It's all very well asking now - "should we have bombed it" - but then what would we be saying if we HAD - it would probably be something along the lines - of "OMG look how many innocent Jews we killed trying to 'save' them".

What about those Jews who survived, and have gone to on to get married and have children, or those that survived and were reunited with family members?? How would the families feel now if we'd bombed them?? I don't think it would have helped bombing them - the Nazi's would only have found somewhere/somehow else to persecute the Jews.

Opinions please (nice controversial one for a Sunday afternoon ;-)

G why dont you leave it?

charlize · 01/02/2005 14:37

Errr..Gwen what do you mean you have kept up "this level of not being a racist for 4 yrs online"
In my experience people who go on and on about not being racist..usually are.

charlize · 01/02/2005 14:40

I didn't say I knew a lot about you! Can you even read! To be frank the little i know from this thread is enough to put me off any future debate with you any way.

Iam pmsl Do you honestly not realise Gwen hoe churlish you sound.

lowcalCOD · 01/02/2005 14:41

i am not racista bout barristers in cardiff

charlize · 01/02/2005 14:42

Lol cod!!!

lowcalCOD · 01/02/2005 14:43

anytyone sene hter recently
I note t he schindler site is still down

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 14:44

charliez! The reason I've 'gone on about it' on this thread is because I don't like being labelled something I'm not - if you knew me from other websites (or even other threads on MN!) you'd know that I DON'T usually make a habit of pointing out that I'm not racist! I do however, use the natural human instinct to 'protect' myself when accusations are being made - would you just accept if it people labelled you a racist???

OP posts:
MUD · 01/02/2005 14:46

I will accept totally that you are NOT racist Gwenick

Will you accept that the wording of some of your posts could be thought of as racist by those reading them?

lowcalCOD · 01/02/2005 14:46

I like a nice malt

happymerryberries · 01/02/2005 14:47

Localcod, that is why you hate me then ,' is coz I'm Welsh?!'

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 14:47

Thankyou MUD - sorry literally 'just' replied to you on other thread and wasn't particularly nice

Yes I will accept that people 'may' have thought that I was a racist I'm sorry if I offended people with those comments - but I still stand by them

OP posts:
lowcalCOD · 01/02/2005 14:48

its you
ams till laughtin over "hte money shots" postings that I have saved

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 14:49

lowcal - did you say Malt - what your drinking - and can you send some over this way please - although I'll have to wait until I've picked the oldest up from nursery before I drink it (oo that sounds awful - drunk mother!)

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 01/02/2005 14:52

I'd be careful about owning up to being a malt drinker, Gwenick ...

charlize · 01/02/2005 14:52

Gwen people are entitled to their opinions. And if some of the posters on here think you are racist then that is their own opinion formed by the things you have said on here.
Shouting and sreaming that you are not and offering out your cousins phone number does make you look a bit silly now doesn't it.
Perhaps its hit a raw nerve and you do need to examine your feelings towards the jewish.
Like Why???? Do you find it funny that your jewish relative has all the money??

Its this rubbish that leads to attacks both verbal and physical on the jewish and you were laughing along with it!

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 14:57

Charliez - you never answered my question - if you thought someone was calling you a racist and antisemite would you, or would you not try and defend yourself?

OP posts:
tigermoth · 01/02/2005 14:59

interesting post, coddy!

charlize · 01/02/2005 15:01

Yes I would Gwenick. But not By offering my Cousins phone number.

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 15:03

charliez - that was a sarcastic comment at the VERY end (actually 'past' the end) of the debate - my cousin would never forgive me if I gave out their phone number!!!

OP posts:
charlize · 01/02/2005 15:11

Well it seemed a serious offer to me or at the very lest you thought that by posting that your cousin would back you up then Hey thats alright your not racist.
Actually if it was sarcasm, why did you repeat tge offer a little while ago?

galaxy · 01/02/2005 15:14

Just a question: Would you two waste your time bickering like this if you were facing each other in real life?

charlize · 01/02/2005 15:14

"My cousins husband probably would speak to you"

This doen't sound like sarcasm to me?
Perhaps thats another word you don't understand the meaning of?
Sorry to sound flippant but you are incredibily ignorant.

charlize · 01/02/2005 15:15

Probably not Galaxy but she seems determined to have the last word so I'll bow out!

Gwenick · 01/02/2005 15:44

ooooo - just to prove Charliez right

I'll have the last word (well the last one after her's anyhow)

Charlie - my comment about my cousins phone number was TODAY - and I've only mentioned it the once!! I've 'commented' on that 'offer' since then but haven't repeated the offer.

Sorry to sound flippant but you incredibly ignorant for not bothering to read threads/posts properly.

To be honest Charliez - seen as though you seem to have a firm interest in this thread (and no doubt the 'other' one mentioned in this thread) I would have thought you would have seen my apologies (but not retractions of statement) and that MUD and I have apologised to each other, I made the point that if I genuinely offended anyone that I was sorry - and I know see that Twiglett (who told me to F* off!) has said she's glad to see the thread move on and hopefully we'll enjoy some more good debates (and if you search for posts by me you'll see I've made over 700 in the space of a month - my goodness that sounds awful! and that the vast majority of them have not been misinterepreted, or upset anyone).

I would hope that others, who only became involved at a much later stage in the threads (this one in particular) are able to move on too........after all wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all had the same opinions, ideas and thoughts!

OP posts:
charlize · 01/02/2005 16:33

Ahh!! Firstly. "My cousins husband would speak to you" IS another offer. [This is getting boring]
And secondly..I have no idea what "other thread" you are talking about.
But as iam used to you making no sense whatsoever on this thread, I imagine its probably more of the same!
