I live near the unrest in birmingham and it’s been terrifying tonight. No far right presence here tonight. A large group of Muslim men filled the streets in Yardley/ bordesley green, not sure if they reached chelmsley wood

dr surgeries cancelled all appointments and heartlands hospital locked down

many of the men carrying weapons including swords openly.

streets closed and white people in Cars and on foot attacked.

a local pub surrounded, families inside barricades themselves in as a huge group tried kicking in all the doors and windows to get to them

one man punched kicked and Stamped on. Who was outside the barricade

this was all going on for hours and no bloody police. Where the hell were they. Compared to all the other protests and riots all having give police presence

and this is not being reported! You can see live stream recordings on Twitter/X still Including the sky reporter being forced off air, and the slashing of their vehicle tyre

god knows what this will all spark off now and I am very worried about what will follow this

Yes, Plymouth is all over the news but not this.

Nah. More robust than that. A poplin, surely?

Why are news stations reporting it as ‘UK riots’? The riots are in England

There are/have been riots in Northern Ireland.

Men

Exactly this.

The whole bloody disaster from the poor 3 murdered children (and the others attacked) plus the rioting is all men - men who think they have the right to take other people's lives, destroy property and cause mayhem.

I heard one of them say that the immigrants are a problem that needs sorting - and I thought, 'No, YOU'RE the problem that needs sorting'.

It honestly disappeared from my twitter for about 10 minutes but it's just reappeared again..

Twitter does sometimes do weird things in trending, when I last looked 'Birmingham' was in smaller text below 2TierKeir so it was still there but a lot less noticeable and didn't appear as one of the trending topics even though it is.

Poverty.

Eh? That’s quite offensive. Being poor doesn’t mean that you’re an arsehole.

@spinspinspinthewheel this is horrendous , sounds so scary

I disagree. It’s pure twatery.

I think it can be both. Obviously there are absolute idiots, but the conditions are right for others who feel marginalised to be drawn in. Birmingham City Council is bankrupt, council tax as well as everything else, has gone up and services have been cut to the bone, there's quite a lot for people to be angry about from all sections of the community.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 05/08/2024 22:47

It was on BBC news at 10.

Utter madness hopefully with so many being held on remand after Merseyside riots it will send a message theynwill be dealt with quickly and appropriately

Eh? That’s quite offensive. Being poor doesn’t mean that you’re an arsehole.

Neither does being a man, being white, being a football fan - or many of the other justifications given on this thread.

The conditions for people to kick off like this usually include poverty - lack of opportunity, lack of income, looking for a scapegoat, being socially isolated etc.

Men

Bingo!

PuttingouthefirewithGasoline · 05/08/2024 22:51

Why are vulnerable people in hotels left to pretty much fend for for themselves or families tonight left to barricade themselves in?

It's been left too long long I know people say the army isn't a good idea but I can't see another way with such a teeny police force?

Lifeinlists · 05/08/2024 22:51

That's not a reason for lawlessness @Gladespade
I don't think those out on the streets right now are thinking about their council tax. The law applies equally - or should.

It’s really time the Army got involved. I agree.

Yeah the Rotherham footage yesterday was brutal. They got in the building OK but didnt want to hurt anyone. It proves this is all just an excuse for beating up the police and general hooliganism. They dont really want blood, thankfully.

alittleprivacy · 05/08/2024 22:52

Baital · 05/08/2024 22:02

Racist mobs

The people who did what the OP describing were not white. There appear to have been a number of concerted militant attacks on mostly random white people today and tonight in parts of England. Many by men carrying deadly weapons. They are absolutely racist attacks but not racist in the direction that you meant.

C0rdeliaChase · 05/08/2024 22:53

Sheelanogig · 05/08/2024 22:09

We need a huge stormy downpour. They'll fuck of home then.

Hideous people rioting. Absolutely awful.

Well, it's pissing down here in Liverpool, funnily enough, there's been no rioting here tonight. Hopefully, the rain will spread across the country.

PuttingouthefirewithGasoline · 05/08/2024 22:53

@Radarkeigh what do you mean they got in?

What happened.

hollyblueivy · 05/08/2024 22:55

What actually is happening?

Is it terrorism?
racist mobs?
Far right extremism?
Protests?

I am confused about what the cause is, why they are doing this and what they are hoping to achieve?

I cannot believe that these people walk amongst us and seem to have just crawled out of the woodwork to create all sorts of mindless violence.

Twistybranch · 05/08/2024 22:55

BBC reporting a small group of Muslim youths attacked a pub and those in vehicles. Some were carrying weapons

namechangedforthisposttt · 05/08/2024 22:56

The ironic thing is the woman reporting for sky news in that video said at the start there were police all around, erm where were they then ?

OP posts:
Theunamedcat · 05/08/2024 22:56

The predominant footage I've seen from Birmingham has not been white there has also not been any police seen on the footage unlike other areas focusing on the toothless and ruthless white people

neilyoungismyhero · 05/08/2024 22:56

Baital · 05/08/2024 22:02

Racist mobs

They weren't racist mobs they were a pretty mixed bunch of thugs from what I saw on the news. About 10 Asian men kicking the shit out of a young white guy then more joined in. No excuse for any of this violence.
