wtf is going on !

Hours of footage all over youtube, but i doubt the police have the inclination or resource to go through it all and put names to all the idiots pelting them with bricks.

A friend of ours has been involved in policing football hooligans for a number of years. His take is that police forces across the country have got so good at identifying/containing football based violent thugs that said thugs are not bothering with football as much. So they are looking for other outlets for their violence and the EDL give them just that.

I'm so worried this is going to end up in a situation like Northern Ireland with retaliation from both sides just creating more violence. The predominantly Muslim men out attacking people, pubs and cars, carrying weapons, and no police presence tonight in Birmingham is just going to inflame things even more. What is the solution to all this?

I understand that Muslims must feel incredibly threatened and scared by the events of the last few days but it has to be acknowledged that some areas of Birmingham have issues with yobs and extremists which pre-date the recent riots.

Or here's an idea. Do a deal with Poland and Nigeria to pay them to house prisoners connected to the riots, with an early release if they pass a culture/language test of the host country. Punishment and education in non-racism simultaneoulsy.

The cause imo is not fitting in into their community or feeling part of their community. The reasons - not contributing either through lack of education or employment. Blaming everyone else. Forget about bringing in the army. Make them join the army so they are contributing something to their community and doing something useful. Those who pick up the litter don't throw litter.

I think the last thing this lot need is weapons and fighting training though? If the national service is street cleaning then OK, but it's usually army service I thought.

Aye the events over the weekend were awful and I'm glad the police have made literally hundreds of arrests.

I'm sure they will have the same tenacity in identifying and charging those in Birmingham that have taken part in this evenings antics.
