Harry and Meghan and Doria car accident?

Just heard this on the radio, does anyone have an actual source? Can't see it anywhere yet, I'm sure that is what I heard, assume not 'serious' as in risk to them?

Honestly, some of the comments on here are awful. Imagine if this was William, Kate and her mum I can imagine they’d be very different. MMs mum is 66, she must have been terrified.

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:33

If they had crashed and died at the end of that chase, would you still be blaming them for not stopping the car sooner?

Of course some would still blame them! That's why it's batshit to deny the treatment they have received by some. Yes they may be spoilt, entitled, affected etc but that doesn't make them the devil incarnate. Granted my bar may be low!

Who has said they are the devil incarnate?!

Doggydarling · 17/05/2023 15:32

I don't understand the chase aspect of this. Why not rear tinted windows so they're not visible and no need to drive fast or dangerously. I'm pretty sure the paps can't follow them into their property or a private carpark if not going home. Maybe I'm missing something but this incident doesn't make sense to me going by the details given

Me too. Why did they keep driving around for 2 hours????

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:35

Unless they were being pursued by gunmen there's no excuse for being involved in any dangerous driving, nowhere, never.

How do you tell if the car chasing you is a pap or a gunman?

redbigbananafeet · 17/05/2023 16:35

rainraingoawaay · 17/05/2023 15:36

I don't understand how it was a 2 hour long "relentless pursuit"?

Not sure if I'm being silly, but that just doesn't make sense how it wasn't stopped prior to it being 2 hours long / how the police didn't stop them / how it actually worked. 2 hours in New York in a car chase? The traffic is so bad you'd just be stood still for half of it!

Involving near collisions with other drivers / pedestrians / police officers makes it sound like one of those getaway escapes you see on police interceptors, I'm baffled.

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. 2 hours through NY? Would you not just pull the car over?

Genzken · 17/05/2023 16:36

I also listened to a podcast with a paparazzi photographer who said pics of MM & PH are worth the most of all celebs (and Harry styles) so this isn’t really surprising

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:37

Would you not just pull the car over?

But why would you pull the car over?

It never is though is it? It’s never them. It’s always M&H enduring these dreadful experiences. I wonder why that is? 🤔

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:39

It's why they are front page news on the DM. So that all the people who don't care about them can read about them & then comment & wish they went away! 😆😆

whomoon · 17/05/2023 16:39

The link from TMZ above with the video and photos from Backgrid showing Doria, Meghan and Harry in the back of the cab, for such a terrifying incident, Meghan doesn’t drop her acting face once does she.

It’s odd. Harry is clearly distressed from the trauma the paps have done in his lifetime, Doria keeps her head down, but Meghan somehow appears to still enjoy the attention and has to remain ‘camera ready’ for any possible shot the paps may get.

Surely she should be frustrated and scared of the intrusion into the private life she wanted, but she can let her acting face relax and show any kind of real feelings.

Odd.

Hell121 · 17/05/2023 16:39

I don’t understand this story at all, how can they have been pursued to the point of a near fatal accident for two hours in NYC which is gridlock most of the time? As previous posters have said surely their security could have stopped, were they going to the airport? Doesn’t make any sense.

Bluemuf · 17/05/2023 16:40

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:37

Rather than drive dangerously for 2 hours? You're right, there's no reason...

EpicChaos · 17/05/2023 16:40

2+ hours? Really?
In New York?
Were they stuck in a traffic jam? :-/

AliceOlive · 17/05/2023 16:41

MmaRra · 17/05/2023 16:38

From their spokesperson, actually.

RatherBeRiding · 17/05/2023 16:41

And GB news say the NYPD has no record of this 'car chase' - and the whole thing is being reported by their 'spokesperson'. I wonder if we are going to see some pap pics of this alleged chase? You'd think if they were chased/followed for 2 hours there would be some pics to show for it?? Or do the paps just like driving randomly for 2 hours to get photos of a group of people who have just openly been photographed leaving a ceremony and getting into a car. What would be the point? They already have the photos. Dunno. Doesn't make any sense.

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:41

It's not really odd, would you feel better if she was looking terrified? Those shots would be gold so I can understand why she wouldn't want that. After all if that was her expression she be accused of being the dramatic actress. Honestly there has to be some reason why a complete stranger would trigger someone so much that everything they do is wrong?

Whaeanui · 17/05/2023 16:42

drpet49 · 17/05/2023 16:35

Me too. Why did they keep driving around for 2 hours????

It’s to avoid the paps knowing where they are staying.

It’s weird this seems to be the first some posters have heard of pap chases? They happen regularly and they’re not the only celebrities to complain about it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/05/2023 16:42

I didn't realise Omid was an official spokesperson?

Neither did I until the details of the cooperation with Finding Freedom came out - plus Justice Warby's remarks in Point 27 here: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/duchess-of-sussex-v-associated.pdf

Perhaps "chosen" might be a better word than "official", but anyway I've still seen no confirmation that he was the one to break this particular story

LadyShimura · 17/05/2023 16:45

Why would the NYPD put them in an ordinary taxi?

Surely 2 highly prolific people, police would get them back to where they were staying themselves. You wouldnt bung them in a cab and hope the paps were too stupid to realise.

You must have x Ray vision I can’t see meghans face in that video

Paparazzi are scum and will never be anything other than scum. Why chase them for two hours, why torment and terrify them like that especially after what happened Harry's poor mother. I hope they're ok and don't see the nasty victim blaming comments everywhere.

The abuse they've had from day one has been ridiculous. From the very start The Palace, The Queen, Charles and William have steadfastly ignored the harassment and dreadful treatment Harry and Meghan have been subjected to. The non stop harassment from Meghan's own father, brother and sister has never been addressed byt hem either. Maybe if they had condemned the behaviour and made it clear they wanted it to stop, Harry and Meghan wouldn't have done any tell alls or written a book.

It's all well and good the Royal family striding around with big smiles plastered on their faces announcing they are serious supporters of mental health, bullying and anti racist charities and groups while at the same time completely ignoring the terrible treatment Harry and Meghan got. Charles has basically shown the world he couldn't give a toss about Harry. The media are only encouraged further every day to harass and bully Harry and Meghan.

I wish them well and hope that they recover from this terrible incident.

So agree with this. Harry's been left high and dry by his horrible family to cope with things by himself.

Boudicasbeard · 17/05/2023 16:24

That video is via Backgrid, which makes me suspicious that they were called and paid to be there.

All MM’s pap shots are via Backgrid.

This nonsense again. No, just because Backgrid bought the photo does not mean it was staged.

Distractoskort · 17/05/2023 16:47

Hmm. So the coronation is over and now they want some attention again. Reeks of “look at meeeeeee”. Near catastrophic my arse. A few weeks ago I decided to go buy milk and bread after a rehearsal and I therefore missed a ghostrider on my route home by 2 minutes. Near catastrophic? Something could have happened maybe nothing. Pah. Attention seeking guff-meisters.
