Just heard this on the radio, does anyone have an actual source? Can't see it anywhere yet, I'm sure that is what I heard, assume not 'serious' as in risk to them?

Paparazzi are scum and will never be anything other than scum. Why chase them for two hours, why torment and terrify them like that especially after what happened Harry's poor mother. I hope they're ok and don't see the nasty victim blaming comments everywhere.

The abuse they've had from day one has been ridiculous. From the very start The Palace, The Queen, Charles and William have steadfastly ignored the harassment and dreadful treatment Harry and Meghan have been subjected to. The non stop harassment from Meghan's own father, brother and sister has never been addressed byt hem either. Maybe if they had condemned the behaviour and made it clear they wanted it to stop, Harry and Meghan wouldn't have done any tell alls or written a book.

It's all well and good the Royal family striding around with big smiles plastered on their faces announcing they are serious supporters of mental health, bullying and anti racist charities and groups while at the same time completely ignoring the terrible treatment Harry and Meghan got. Charles has basically shown the world he couldn't give a toss about Harry. The media are only encouraged further every day to harass and bully Harry and Meghan.

I wish them well and hope that they recover from this terrible incident.

Finally a sensible post at last!

Boudicasbeard · 17/05/2023 16:24

That video is via Backgrid, which makes me suspicious that they were called and paid to be there.

All MM’s pap shots are via Backgrid.

mixedrecycling · 17/05/2023 16:25

Who is 'encouraging the media every day to harass and bully H&M'?

BrokenWing · 17/05/2023 16:25

They are so lucky the police will have been able to be involved as it lasted 2 hours and there will be lots of CCTV footage available throughout 2 hours of driving through NYC to allow them to evidence the allegations and criminally prosecute.

I am surprised, given history, their security allowed it to happen and were not better prepared, didn't just drive to the nearest police station/safe space, or pull over until the police arrived instead of participating in a "chase" for 2 hours.

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:25

Surely a 2 hour pursuit doesn't literally mean paps attached to their bumper for the whole time? They would have lost them at points. Likely when the paps didn't have sight of them they were still driving erratically. I'm not sure why H&M are responsible for the paps driving?

fajitaaa · 17/05/2023 16:25

Everyone involved should be arrested

That's a unique interpretation of the word "sensible".

Boudicasbeard · 17/05/2023 16:26

Yea, why not just wait in a police station until the paps were cleared. Seems like poor risk management.

Also, stop calling the paparazzi for flattering pap shots.

Yes, anyone breaking the law in the way they drive should be prosecuted

Rhondaa · 17/05/2023 16:27

Seems so ironic that they fled the UK to escape the press intrusion. I very much doubt this would have happened in London.

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:27

The same people who jump on these threads & call them attention seekers! But it's ok because they don't tell the truth! does any celeb or royal for that matter tell the exact truth or just their own version?!

Xenia · 17/05/2023 16:29

I suspect we don't know all the facts as yet. They might find a quiet life with no public events ever suits them better (although that should entirely be their choice of course)

Sorry, not sure how this thread 'encourages' the media to do anyting.

Clicking on links, paying for photos etc -yes

A discussion thread?

Jesus. You people.

If they had crashed and died at the end of that chase, would you still be blaming them for not stopping the car sooner?

In the same way that people say that other dangerous drivers get what they deserve, thank god they didn't hurt anyone else etc?

If the situation was dangerous they had the power to stop it. They weren't in any danger if they stopped.

Emmelina · 17/05/2023 16:30

I’ll be honest, I’m skeptical. Nobody looks the slightest bit flustered in the TMZ photos linked above. Followed? Maybe. Hounded by dozens? Probably not. 2 hours high speed chase through New York and still looking that relaxed and well put together? Definitely not. Exaggeration? Absolutely.

morelippy · 17/05/2023 16:30

What a load of tosh. Unless they were being pursued by gunmen there's no excuse for being involved in any dangerous driving, nowhere, never.

Drama queens

Bluemuf · 17/05/2023 16:07

Why would there be any possible need for a 2 hour car chase to avoid a photo of the two of them with her mum, which they'd posed for earlier that day.?

Obviously I understand they don't want to be papped, but was there really no where safe to stop in 2 hours?

They were trying to shake them off so they didn't know where they were staying.

Summerbobs · 17/05/2023 16:31

Wendysfriend · 17/05/2023 15:21

Sky news just broke it, news still coming in. 2 hour car chase and many involved, including NYPD, pedestrians and other cars, near catastrophic. OMG hope they're OK.

Allegedly…

Spambod · 17/05/2023 16:31

one guy on a moped with a camera phone followed them on and off for two hours to try and get a picture. They continued to drive as opposed to stop somewhere because They had not pre arranged the photos like they normally do with the paps.
how does this turn into a 2 hour car chase that was ‘near fatal’. This is typical of them and all part of the worldwide privacy tour.

AutumnCrow · 17/05/2023 16:32

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:17

@Boudicasbeard no idea, I've not followed any of it. Just never heard that they had an official spokesperson

They have global press officers, I believe. Global.

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:33

If they had crashed and died at the end of that chase, would you still be blaming them for not stopping the car sooner?

Of course some would still blame them! That's why it's batshit to deny the treatment they have received by some. Yes they may be spoilt, entitled, affected etc but that doesn't make them the devil incarnate. Granted my bar may be low!

frankgu · 17/05/2023 16:33

@AutumnCrow so what is it? a number of global ones or just one?

Redglitter · 17/05/2023 16:34

So it's been:

A near crash
A near catastrophic accident and
A near fatal accident

So basically it was none of those. I dont believe for a minute they were involved in a 2 hour chase

Itll be interesting if NYPD make s statement. I wouldn't believe anything that comes from their spokesman

azimuth299 · 17/05/2023 16:34

I can't work out what they're saying has happened here...

They left an awards ceremony and then didn't have transport planned to get back to their hotel, so they just hailed a normal cab?

Paparazzi started following the cab, and so they asked the taxi driver to keep driving around to lose the paparazzi, and the taxi driver agreed?

There was somehow no traffic and they managed to drive around downtown for two hours?

They were unable to contact anybody from the car, nobody realised that they had been missing for ages, and despite numerous near-collisions, the police weren't aware of what was happening, or at least weren't able to stop the car chase (in downtown Manhattan where police are everywhere and the traffic is standstill) for two hours?

If that's what they're actually saying then it seems incredibly unlikely to have happened.
