Just heard this on the radio, does anyone have an actual source? Can't see it anywhere yet, I'm sure that is what I heard, assume not 'serious' as in risk to them?

What the fuck is everyone’s issue with the word? It is always the same nitpicking over words

it’s not nitpicking, words have specific meanings and are used to convey information correctly. PR people (should) understand this.

As this and other threads have demonstrated, the initial headlines led people to believe that someone had been seriously hurt.

Probably just 🙄 !

Lovely.

I thought so!

NEAR catastrophic. Someone could have been hurt and paps pursued a man and his family whose own mother was killed in a car chase but sure, obsess over the exact wording to use. Sure.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/05/2023 11:53

It was NYC. There'll have been thousands of people filming cars swarming over pavements trying to run over policemen and civilians for two hours. I'm sure we'll see these being released during today

I wouldn't hold your breath; most likely the "mustn't publish them because it'll encourage others" will be seized upon, or we may even see the use of images totally unrelated to the event, as during Covid

Personally I'll wait for further comment by the police, who AFAIK still haven't made any arrests - it's got to be better than the usual Twitterati storm, with people presenting things they can't possibly know as facts

Oh how sad the royalists didn’t get to have a joke and laugh about Meghan, Doria and Harry being scared and pursued. You poor things, how awful for you.

So in that one extract they were

incredibly scared and upset

or

a bit shaken up

even their own people can’t get the story straight

TrashyPanda · 18/05/2023 11:56

Sorry, first quote should be
incredibly scared and shaken up

polkadotdalmation · 18/05/2023 11:56

For a near catastrophic incident Meghan looks quite smiley.

Harry was filming on his camera and I'll bet that footage turns up in his court case to have his security status is returned. If it is returned then the American taxpayers will foot the bill.

Their new PR team have set up what is a normal occurrence for famous people (photographers) as a publicity stunt. H&M have a history of creating false narratives to manipulate opinion and this is another exaggerated narrative designed to influence the British courts.

Ellaelle · 18/05/2023 11:57

You guys and your semantics are exhausting! Constantly nitpicking to find any way to make it H& m's fault that they got chased by the paps

polkadotdalmation · 18/05/2023 11:58

And why get out of a car with blacked out windows and into a taxi with clear glass. Blacked out windows mean you can't be photographed. Make it make sense!

jeffgoldblum · 18/05/2023 11:59

@polkadotdalmation 🤷‍♀️

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 18/05/2023 12:00

People are demanding instant answers but we don't know all of the information just yet. Footage is being reviewed, arrests might be made in a few days time etc etc. Not for pps' immediate satisfaction here. But let's judge them anyway

Does anyone have the actual wording of their statement? I'd like to know as i can't judge what was actually said and what was lies/hyperbole from the media.

They get chased by photographers because they've put themselves centre stage and seek fame and wealth. What do they expect? It was no big deal. They've simply exaggerated. The police will investigate and we'll hear the truth eventually.

Gosh you guys do get very antsy if people get their duchesses countesses and princesses mixed up! Anyway i pray princess Meghan is not to traumatised by the whole situation and I pray the lady who was knocked over by the countess Forfars entourage recovers

Princess Meghan doesn’t exist outside your imagination.

it’s not possible for fantasy characters to get traumatised.

it wasn’t the Countess of Forfars entourage. It was the Duchess of Edinburgh

try to get simple facts straight.

So why would they bring a random cab driver into the mix, and involve him needlessly in this ‘near catastrophic’ incident? That had already been going on for over an hour?

When they had various security, as well as the police involved?

Absolute fucking stupidity.

ArcaneWireless · 18/05/2023 12:04

I wonder why the BBC website said alleged car chase?

I’m sure there will be plenty of footage about to emerge to show how dangerous it was to the public and indeed to H&M. Mobile phone footage captures ever such a lot these days.

In our little town there have been a few idiots having a car chase (not paparazzi - nothing like that up here) and the copious footage that appeared subsequently on SM showed how dangerous it could have been. Not quite catastrophic of course but nearly.

They were all caught and arrested very quickly. All the footage helped.

The absence of seatbelts though…

It's sort of along the lines of, 'I need security because I think people are trying to shoot me' and then rolling the car window down.

The exact words in a press statement issued by them on an incident that strangely hadn’t been witnessed by anybody, even though it was in the middle of NYC. Even though it was so incredibly dangerous for anybody in the vicinity.

wonder how that happened? Did the paps erase everyone’s memories along with their phone cameras?

Whaeanui · 18/05/2023 12:06

Look at all the security experts on this thread! They didn’t care about photos, they’d just given plenty of opportunity for people to take them. They did not want to be followed to a friends residence so getting in a cab in NY was thought better to try and shake them off. Like has been said numerous times. They changed cars more than once, as their spokesperson said.

Pay attention. It was witnessed. There’s witness accounts posted on the thread.

Absolute fucking stupidity

almost as stupid as not putting a fucking seatbelt on.

not one of the three of them took that basic precaution.

how peculiar.

Apologies - I meant to say that nobody had reported the incident until the press statement.

nobody.

which was incredibly strange that such a fast (or was it? Sussex PR and Sussex security disagree on that) and long lasting incident with so many traffic infractions (or were there? NYPD disagree) wasn’t noticed before the PR statement.

very strange
