Just heard this on the radio, does anyone have an actual source? Can't see it anywhere yet, I'm sure that is what I heard, assume not 'serious' as in risk to them?

They could've pulled into a hotel and left by a different exit when ready to do so. I also wouldn't be bringing this kind of attention to my friends' doors, given the number of lawsuits ongoing and the recency of the coronation. Just book a hotel !

Whitebeamtreelover · 17/05/2023 18:48

Haven’t read the whole thread but seems massively exaggerated. They have said it was near catastrophic. The police however said

In a statement, New York Police Department said: 'On Tuesday evening, May 16, the NYPD assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
'There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests in regard”

so, yeah, more attention seeking.

CosmosQueen · 17/05/2023 18:48

On Twitter there are clear photos of Meghan smiling happily and Harry filming the photographer. They’re in the back of a taxi, no seatbelts and looking very relaxed.
NYPDChief has pretty much denied all of Scobie’s statement, apparently there was. NYPD police car accompanying them. Harry and Meghan had asked for an indirect route back to where they were staying, no chase whatsoever.

Strawberries007 · 17/05/2023 18:48

I guess it's deemed safer to Diana them in a foreign land. Opps! That's the actual definition! The "accident" has to happen on foreign soil.

The issue was taxation without representation, not the monarchy.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd love to have them back.

sashagabadon · 17/05/2023 18:48

If m and h hadn’t released a statement about it, causing all this related drama we’d all be none the wiser.

He wanted the RF to put out a statement to tell the media to back off with their racist reporting of Meghan, but they didn't. They left the two of them to cope with it on their own. All because they were feeding them to the wolves to cover up W's affair. This is all before H&M even left.

So yeah, his horrible family used him and Meghan as scapegoats to cover up their own crap.

William did

Prince William Issues Statement about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

William stood behind his brother’s decision to officially confirm his relationship in order to ask for privacy.

Who is this scobie guy

Isthisreasonable · 17/05/2023 18:49

Which of his favoured hallucinogenic drugs was he on at the time? So many things don't ring true, and their track record of fabricating/embroidering stories doesn't help their case.

user01082312345 · 17/05/2023 18:49

Knowing Meghan, this was either a highly fabricated story or it was staged to make herself and "Just call me Harry" look like the victims.

Yup. Maybe in their heads it was a chase and near catastrophic. The police who were there feel otherwise.

Watch it guys. The same thread on Royal Family section has just been deleted for expressing very similar (aka calling bullshit) views

It pretty much is bs actually….

ZellyFitzgerald · 17/05/2023 18:49

The other thread was taken down.

So Mumsnet are allowed to make fun of Charles appearance (the big ears on the crown debacle), but no one is allowed to call bullshit on this pair? That's a joke 🤣

yup, as nothing happened, so nothing to be wise about..

Bluemuf · 17/05/2023 18:51

Just a thought but if you don't want newspapers to be chasing your story maybe don't put out an sensationalised account likely to make you front page news for days.

Of course being chased by photographers is terrible, but it didn't have to lead to this.

It must be very hard when your main source of income is publicity, that you don't want.

Bluebells1970 · 17/05/2023 18:52

All the NYPD need to do is issue a statement saying recollections may vary...

Strawberries007 · 17/05/2023 18:52

Over 136 articles over a 4 day period even though Harry was in the country ever so briefly! The only star it seems! https://twitter.com/edwinhayward/status/1655520685731487744

Tribblesarelovely · 17/05/2023 18:52

Probably highly exaggerated was my first thought, Nicholas Witchell considered the same judging by his report.

Paloma66 · 17/05/2023 18:52

To be honest it's not really our problem any more. They don't want to be here, they care nothing for the British people and Meghan didn't even bother to attend the coronation of her father in law.

They chose to live in the US. Let the Americans worry about them. They made it clear they'd rather be there. They are not our problem. They need to organise their own security and campaign for the US police to support them if that's what they need.

Someone who is more than likely going to very soon become an ex employee of H and M.

Yep. ⛈☕

I’ve just spent a good couple of minutes thinking ‘Rain coffee? Cloud drink? Lightning brew?… ooooh. Storm in a teacup!’ Like a mini episode of Catchphrase, if you’re old enough to remember that (‘Say what you see!’)

😂😂

noodlezoodle · 17/05/2023 18:53

Bit surprised there are so many people saying 'why didn't they just pull over'? Yes, why wouldn't people being chased by blacked out SUVs pull over, when they have no idea who's in the car or what they want?

When they realise it's paps, why wouldn't they just go to where they're staying, so that photographers can set up outside their friend's house and make their lives a misery?

Why didn't they go to a police station? They did, that's when they switched into a taxi. It didn't do any good.

The lack of empathy is completely astonishing.

Nicholas Witchell clearly didn't believe a word of any of it did he! He'd make a terrible actor or poker player
