Fuck it, I'm opening another one. If the mods delete it fair enough.

I don't believe the menopause or even alcoholism explains a woman vanishing into thin air with no evidence left behind.

This whole case stinks!

Who's braverman

Suella Braverman the Home Secretary

@Bellalalala @Merkins

There is clearly some truth in Nicola's struggles. Whether that has anything to do with her disappearance I don't know and wouldn't like to try to speculate. But what I personally think is, the police thought, by releasing that information people would stop speculating/stop accusing family and friends. This obviously backfired from what I have seen and has just added fuel to the fire.

So now they need the family's backing.

A public media circus has been created by poor communication, interviews not run by the police. The main hypothesis on no evidence of anything. And the complete destroynace of Nicola's reputation. They've been singing from a different sheet from the start.

On this thread we have never tolerated anyone accusing the family.

Nicola Bulley: the scenes as police patrols continue in Knott End and St Michael's as part of Nicola Bulley investigation
Police patrols as part of the investigation into the disapearance of Nicola Bulley have continued today

@plumduck this has just been posted by Lancashire Evening Post.

Is it just me or does that look like not a lot is going on? Seems to be some regular patrols to show a presence. I don't what to expect after nearly 3 weeks and I am sure there is a lot of follow up activity going on behind the scenes, but not so much search activity out and about.

@Nicknacky in my opinion it's very convenient they spent a huge amount of time yesterday trying to change the narrative of the story. From the press conference to the statement released after. Where they stated we have explain to the family why we have to release this information. So it's not something the family had a choice about. It then opened up another level of speculation, and now all of a sudden the family are releasing a statement through the police that generally insinuates Nicola was in crisis. But this isn't at all to do with the police wanting the heat off them. That is my point. I really don't mean to be disrespectful to the family, if any other main poster thinks I have been, then I'll report my posts to MN.

It’s the family’s statement. You have disrespected that by not accepting that.

Reading the story, that headline is misleading.

The article implies she is already getting regular updates on the case and details of their investigation and has asked (not demanded) to know why this decision was made.

Tides. There'll be specific stages of the tide when they're likely to find things in various places.

And of course they're not giving a minute-by-minute account just to keep the general public informed.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:44

@LemonTT I have explained in my latest post why I feel like I do.

I have not heard from any main poster to say what I've said is inappropriate. Until I do I stand by what I say, and will continue to until I'm proven wrong.

Goldpaw · 16/02/2023 17:46

@Winnet They enjoy being seen

I think you're projecting.

I also agree with @cristinayangonceagain

SoTedious · 16/02/2023 17:46

Because maybe they actually didn’t want to release it, but also agreed that it should be released under the circumstances.

Yes, maybe. My point is why not just say that, if everyone was in agreement, instead of saying they were "aware of" what the police were doing.

What do you mean by “any main poster”?

That’s all speculation.

You have no idea how much the family (which isn’t just Paul) have backed them. Or backed certain aspects. The family statement says they are being kept updated and did not say they don’t back the police. So to say they don’t, is speculation. Which the family have said they want to stop.

What poor communication? With who? Who was interviewed without running it by the police? The family? If they chose to do that, would it be better if the police tried to gag them?

PF wasn’t brought in by the police. He was brought in by the family. The police didn’t communicate with him, because they were not the one working with him. Any poor communication there was not down to the police either.

Jesus wept. Maybe because to them it came across as clear. Maybe that’s how they wanted to say it.

Maybe they didn’t conceive posters in MN would dissect their words to try and reinforce their own theories, that are based on nothing. Maybe they didn’t anticipate that, despite asking people to stop, they would start pulling their words apart, to prove a point.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:50

So no one else is allowed to have an opinion on your posts unless they have a certain number of posts on the subject?

Thats not how forums work.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:52

@Bellalalala . You are right I am basing it mainly on Paul's interviews.

Communications with the public

If the family were happy with the police, why did they want PF to get Involved.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:53

@Nicknacky you can have an opinion and challenge me of course, but I won't delete unless I offend the main poster's, the ones that set the rules, manage the threads.

I think we can all reserve the right to not listen to someone we haven't had a great deal of interaction with.

Nicknacky · 16/02/2023 17:55

@01R019 And it’s not “main” posters who set rules or manage threads. How strange that you think that.

SoTedious · 16/02/2023 17:55

Maybe they didn’t conceive posters in MN would dissect their words...

Press releases do tend to be written quite carefully, especially ones released via the comms team of a police force under this much pressure. It would be strange not to expect people to "dissect" it - although I admit they're probably more concerned about journalists than MN posters.
