I was directed to her Linkedin profile earlier. Looks like she had some time out of the workplace (timing corresponds with the age of her eldest DC) and then returned to work last year possibly after her youngest started school.
She sounds very professional with a lot of experience in her field. Strange that she could hold down a relatively newly acquired job while having 'significant alcohol issues' especially as it is a public facing role - mortgage advisor.
I certainly don't want to do her down in that she possibly found it hard returning to work after being a SAHM while suffering menopausal symptoms and possibly carrying on doing most of the household and child stuff. My DH and I had lots of issues regarding that when I returned to work after a long time as a SAHM as he was used to me doing everything.
She looks very capable though, made time to properly exercise her dog daily, multi tasking while doing so arranging play dates and being on work calls.
She obviously did the school run and dog walk regularly as her DH said he would normally load the car and strap the DC in for her even though his work started later in the day and he'd then have a bit of 'me time' after they left before he started work.
If my DH was a heavy drinker, there no way I would let him get up and do the school run if I was also at home, because you'd assume Nicola would be drinking at night if she was holding down a job during the day and she was obviously actively employed until the day she went missing, hadn't been signed off, as it was reported that she'd had work meetings the day before and was on a teams meeting call that morning.
I just can't get past that poor woman possibly having met with foul play and not here to defend herself, while she's being painted as a mentally unstable, alcoholic who ditched her DC and left her dog running loose where it could have to harm.
Her poor daughters will read all the media reports when they're older and if she's never found (because the police lost valuable time chasing a hypothesis based on that picture), they might believe it when it may be nothing like the truth.
