Fuck it, I'm opening another one. If the mods delete it fair enough.

I don't believe the menopause or even alcoholism explains a woman vanishing into thin air with no evidence left behind.

This whole case stinks!

I'd say at this point it's in the police's interest that these threads are discontinued and deleted, it's not in Nicola or her family's interest.

The Nicola threads have all been very respectful and speculations about the family are absolutely not allowed or tolerated. Once something is in the media you cannot stop people from talking about it on SM.

It must be a very clenched up, anal retentive personality who seeks to control what groups of people are talking about.

Lancashire Police have been shockingly incompetent and the force need looking into. I'm guessing that police staff have worked in the force for very extended periods of time, accumulated too much individual power, never had to change their ways, not diverse enough and training not up to date.

plumduck · 16/02/2023 16:34

Have there been any updates on the police searches today? Are they still looking in the river?

lemmein · 16/02/2023 16:41

If you don't like it, report it.

Are you going onto other social media sites/media outlets waving your arms about telling them they can't discuss this case?

And whilst contributors are getting constantly hounded on these threads for daring to discuss a major news story (on the news board), there's threads on MN simultaneously questioning why other missing person cases aren't getting the same attention 🙄

Just report and go away - you don't need to keep adding to threads you find so distasteful.

Well or a troll, bot or someone with vested interest.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 16:44

@PetTheRat it's all very hot fuzz isn't it.

Commonsensitivity · 16/02/2023 16:44

If my DH was a heavy drinker, there no way I would let him get up and do the school run if I was also at home, because you'd assume Nicola would be drinking at night if she was holding down a job during the day and she was obviously actively employed until the day she went missing, hadn't been signed off, as it was reported that she'd had work meetings the day before and was on a teams meeting call that morning.

I agree with this.

MeinKraft · 16/02/2023 16:49

'Are you going onto other social media sites/media outlets waving your arms about telling them they can't discuss this case?'

Course they aren't. They're on one thread saying how awful it is that Nicole was revealed to be - gasp - perimenopausal. And coming into this thread to scold all of us women for talking about it. Back to the knitting and parenting boards women! Nothing to see here!

The misogyny is coming from inside the house.

MeinKraft · 16/02/2023 16:49

Fucking autocorrect is nearly as much of a cunt as the squeaky toys.

Anyone?

I originally thought that third party is involved, abduction or something sinister etc however after they revealed what they revealed yesterday, I think she just left. Especially with the phone left on the bench.
She could be well abroad, somewhere in retreat.
Anyone knows if her passport stayed home or disappeared as well?
There was a lady near me, very popular and busy hairdresser, with a huge clientele, picturesque family, kids, amazing house, lovely DH.
One day she just walked off- she flew to Sri Lanka and stayed there 5 months to clear her head… We as her clients did not know, even the DH did not know, only she contacted him through the hotel that she is ok and won’t be home for some months.
See these things happen if you are overwhelmed with life.

You'd think the police would have known pretty early on if Nicola's passport was missing, if she'd booked a plane ticket or her bank account has been used.

Surely they wouldn't have spent weeks of man time and costs searching a river if they had information to suggest she'd flown off into the sunset for a break from it all.

Blimey!

Anyone?

Not that Ive seen reported- all very much focussing on dampening online speculation

01R019 · 16/02/2023 16:52

@plumduck I haven't seen anything, other than the police family update.

SpecialOPs · 16/02/2023 16:52

B

plumduck · 16/02/2023 16:53

Thanks. I do hope they are still searching with intensity. I understand they will wind down at some point.

Februarynights · 16/02/2023 16:54

@CyberSpaceTraveller someone else could book it for her, plus she could be in UK, so no passport needed. If peoples want to disappear, they plan it well..
I don’t know, I just think what could be possible.

You are so disrespectful toward the family, you really are.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 16:56

@Nicknacky disrespectful to the police I'll take. To the family not at all, find me one of my posts where I've said anything against the family.

Exactly that one I quoted. You cannot allow yourself to accept the families words in their statement. You are arrogant enough to say it’s not their words with nothing to back that up and are dismissive of their statement.

Thats disrespectful.

plumduck · 16/02/2023 16:59

This thread is unreadable for me now. I thought it was for updates.

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:01

@Nicknacky I'm going by, what we have seen of the families thoughts on multiple interviews & the main one of Paul on Ch5.
In my opinion it does not match the statement released today.
Apologies if this has offended you, but I have not, to my knowledge been disrespectful to the family.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 16/02/2023 17:02

I have no issue with people discussing the case in general.

What I take issue with is the endless speculation, jokes, 'comical' emojis, and twisting of the facts for entertainment. All I know is that if this was happening to someone I loved, I'd be heartbroken.

And yes, I have reported, but I'm challenging it on the thread as well because I genuinely think it's wrong.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 16/02/2023 17:04

Winnet · 16/02/2023 16:04

They wont though. This has shown MN to harbour a rather large number of ghoulish busy-bodies who have been driven into an obsessed frenzy by this poor families suffering and they descend on the thread with alarming regularity to feast on any new snippet of news, true or otherwise.

They claim to do so out of care or compassion. Nothing could be further from the truth; it excites them.

Says the posters who gets their kicks by polishing their prefect badges, moralising, pontificating and wanting to shut down free speech, whilst hanging on every post and reading every reply.
Does it excite you, do you get your kicks from this bizarre power trip of being the thread police?

01R019 · 16/02/2023 17:04

@Nicknacky a statement like that, would normally actually come from the family, broadcasted out on the news, like any other missing person appeal. Not from the police, on from what I can see a Facebook update, after they have just by what it looks like released very sensitive information about a women who is missing. To which they have received an anormous amount of backlash from.
