Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

@Goldpaw when was the last time you remember a case like this, blowing up this big in the media?

Gosh, no idea.

Here you go….

Interesting that Emma’s FIL is a BBC journo. I felt they were getting advice. And maybe they have asked PF to do media to keep the publicity going. And maybe he didn’t do media before as he wasn’t critical of a police force before.

01R019 · 14/02/2023 10:51

@Goldpaw me neither, might be why we haven't heard about him before, unless we've been in the unfortunate position of having to find someone. I think he also works more in the south? Could be wrong.

I can understand why some are skeptical of him, but he does have many years of experience. I really do not think he is trying to cash in on recognition.

I agree. This guy has decades of experience including working with southern police forces on a daily basis.

I remember you saying that early on about getting advice.
They are lucky to have such excellent connections.

It's exactly why Paul Ansell wants the surrounding buildings searched. She could be in there.

I don't believe for a minute that she fell into the river. Fit, healthy, strong, sensible, cautious young woman who could swim, no it's just a lazy hypothesis in my opinion.
Even if she had fallen, she would have had a better chance than most of getting back out again.
If she had been a non swimmer, or if her family had said she was always standing too close to the edge throwing the ball in for Willow then that would have given credence to the theory.
From all that has been said by those who know and love her, she is one of life's kind people, and for this reason alone I find it hard to imagine that if she did walk away from her own life she wouldn't also have left the car keys behind. Small detail but one that speaks volumes.

And is he permitted to publicly discuss, criticise speculate on, and generally interfere with the investigations of the police forces he works with?

It's not any lack of competence in doing his job that's the problem it's literally that he's interfering with an ongoing police investigation and fuelling the speculation that the police have asked people to refrain from.

She didn't leave her car keys behind.

melonraspberry · 14/02/2023 11:02

Although @ofwarren i can’t find anything about her FIL. Is he a presenter who moved to ITV recently ?

Sorry typo there. Yes I think she wouldn't have taken her car keys with her if she planned on walking away.

I'm not sure. I'm only going off what people have found on twitter.

Photos clearer on actual earth app than my upload. Does anyone know if the caravans at caravan park near the river have been searched or is that still not allowed as such because its a missing person

01R019 · 14/02/2023 11:06

@pigsinoodies OK, but this isn't a police run state, professionals and the public are allowed to hold the police to account.

They've asked people not to speculate, but he is mirroring what the family clearly think. Paul himself speculated on his interview about outbuildings etc.

In my opinion they have caused major speculation by stating what they believe likely happened with out any evidence and against what the family believe.

At least someone is helping them, the way they want to be helped.

The police said they have searched vacant caravans. The caravan park is shut for the winter so I cam only assume that all theirs have been searched. Rowanwater at the back of the fields has actual residents all year round though.

Ex Lancashire police doesn't seem too happy with PF

"Personally. I think this is a step too far and in danger of giving false hope to Nicolas family and friends. I believe it is illogical to maintain some of these theories. Nicola Bulley: Search expert looking for Bulley seeks out spots for dumping bodies"

I find his quote quite anger inducing. Is anything 'a step too far' when it comes to trying to either help Nicola or give the family answers and/or closure?

I agree, and also as the police themselves have said, this is "just" a missing person investigation. No criminality has been found nor is "any expected" (SI Riley's words) in this case. If the family want to carry out their own search because they (clearly) think the police force aren't trying hard enough, they are entirely within their rights to do so.

Ok I know I keep banging on about this but most accidents around water in U.K. are fit healthy strong swimming young men, even in summer! We can’t just assume because it was shallow she didn’t drown she may have banged her head landed face first etc etc. Sadly most freak accidents happen in unexpected ways. This is where I find PF the most unprofessional for selling the line it’s impossible, unlikely maybe but very possible.

The police rally round each other though don't they. We even saw that on here with the ex and current police officers who didn't really want us to discuss it.
