Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

ofwarren · 12/02/2023 18:39

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

If the dog already had string attached to her collar, could someone have tried to snatch her whilst Nicola was occupied with the Teams call, Nicola chased after them and some kind of altercation ended up with Nicola in the river?

Could be. But the body's missing.

WarningToTheCurious · 13/02/2023 23:11

Was just thinking why the dog would have string attached to her collar - an opportunistic dog thief might do something like that. Could a chase have taken them downstream of the weir? Of course, this assumes that the report of the string being already attached to the collar is correct.

Peverellshire · 13/02/2023 23:18

@WarningToTheCurious ’string’ is not cited beyond someone’s social media & its become fact.

This is a theory in my head but more likely she was carried away after an injury or similar. The water is looking very unlikely seeing what all the experts and sleuths are saying.

Yes, hence my wondering whether the string actually exists.

Twonewcats · 13/02/2023 23:22

Afaik the string wasn't already attached to the collar. The wording is what's unclear, whether Willow got tied up using string [which got] attached to her collar. Or she was tied up with string [which was already] attached to her collar

Peverellshire · 13/02/2023 23:26

@Twonewcats no official source for string - red herring.

Bluebellwood129 · 14/02/2023 00:12

The family have obviously swallowed the 'great white hunter' story willingly and he's raised their expectations just to further his own image.

I'd say it's more likely a case of using existing connections to keep Nicola's disappearance in the public eye and this is one part of the strategy.

Bluebellwood129 · 14/02/2023 00:13

@ofwarren Thank you for keeping us updated today - much appreciated.

ImprobablePuffin · 14/02/2023 00:59

I feel like I've learned so much more on this thread today than other days and the only reason I can come up with is I'm not wading through abusive comments whilst trying to stay informed.
Thanks @ofwarren and all other posters for a day of considered, respectful posts.

Humoresque · 14/02/2023 01:20

Agree with @Bluebellwood129 & @ImprobablePuffin that posters on today's thread were respectful, informative and helpful.
Also thanks to @ofwarren for the great job she's doing

Oh yes I remember now she was upset and bowed out

it would be interesting to know how the local community of women feel there while this is going on without any news of what’s happened to Nicola

I live “across the fields” from St Michaels and I don’t feel frightened at all, despite being very similar to Nicola. I’m happy to walk my dog on our usual routes but I know some women are a little apprehensive, not enough to stop their usual activities though.

This burial line of enquiry is just so far fetched now.

I remain of the view that she went into the water and mix of miscalculations and mistakes mean that she is further out (probably the sea) than anticipated.

MucozadeOnLucozade · 13/02/2023 22:56

If she is buried locally, what was the motive to just quickly murder and bury her? This doesn't add up.

It would only add up if they are thinking that she was maybe killed accidentally, in a scuffle with a local.

It must be so hard for families that have already been through this, seeing it all over the news happening to another family 😔

On photos and videos I’ve seen, on the tree behind the bench there is a large white sign saying “dogs must be kept on a lead at all times” or something along those lines. I keep coming back to that in my mind for some reason.

I wonder if when caravan park lady came across Willow running loose, she was pissed off, particularly so when the owner wasn’t in sight. I do wonder if it was sheer annoyance/frustration why she tied the dog up and then wasn’t in a particular hurry to report the situation. I’m sure I’ve read somewhere on these threads that there had been issues with dogs off lead so she may have thought “oh it’s that bloody dog again”.

I completely agree with you. Every other scenario is just not possible in the timeframe and lack of evidence. I just hope they find her so that the family have closure.

Some men just kill women though, they don’t always abduct. There was a woman who was killed this summer when walking home in London, I’m really sorry I can’t remember her name, and it took five minutes - on a driveway - as it was caught on CCTV.

I know we keep hearing about the “10 minute window” but all he had to do was get her away from bench area out of sight at that point, the first people on the scene certainly didn’t go off searching in the bushes, then there was a gap of 1hr 30 minutes almost before we know of anyone else turning up. So not such a busy area after all that morning.
