Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

Looking at google maps, there's a few large ponds/small lakes nearby. Have those also been sonared?

No, they haven't even had the normal police divers in

@Peverellshire This is the official timeline from Lancs police:

Timeline

8.26am: Nicola leaves her home address with her children

8.40am: Nicola drops the children off at school and has a brief conversation with another parent

8.43am: Nicola walked along the path by the River Wyre towards the gate/bench into the lower field, having dropped her children off at school

8:47am (approximately): A dog-walker – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her walking around the lower field with her dog. Their two dogs interacted briefly before the witness left the field via the river path

8.53am: She sent an email to her boss

8.59 am: She sent message to a friend

9.01am: She logged into a Teams call

9.10am (approximately): A witness – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her on the upper field walking her dog, Willow. Work is ongoing today to establish exactly what time this was.

9.20am: Her phone was back in the area of the bench

9.30am: The Teams call ended but Nicola stayed logged on

9.33am (approximately): Nicola’s mobile phone and Willow were found at a bench by the river by another dog-walker.

----

It looks like some of the people have been shown to leave via different routes all prior to 9.33.

It's not clear whether the man with the fluffy white dog is the person quoted here at 9.33 or if it is the lady who owns the caravan park and apparently tied up Willow (although not sure whether she actually had her own dog with her?)

Also it's been stated that the lady who tied Willow up (around 9.33) was leaving to go to an appointment so it's not clear how long she had been in the area, as it seems strange she would be arriving through the kissing gate at 9.33 (with the elderly man with fluffy dog arriving shortly after her) if she was in a rush to get to an appointment and needed to leave straight away?

All very strange and confusing - but you would hope that if there were multiple witnessesses in the vicinity of the bench at 9.33 this would have been made clearer.

Brilliantly clear, thank you!

The article I linked to suggests 'dog typing up' 'going to an appointment', witness at 9:33am, was the woman who told the police:

A friend who wishes to stay anonymous, told the Mirror she has spoken to a pair who believe they were the last people to see Nicola before she went missing. She said: "They say she was laughing and joking with them as she went by."

The devil is so often in the detail and these sort of nuggets of information can be lost to the timeline and to history. Am sure the police will, of course, have clear witness statements and the press can muddle. BUT in case anything has slipped through net or been forgotten important things are revisited. No doubt they will be and PF, seems very dogged in his determination to do this and more.

  1. DO we know, with a source preferably, IF Willow was tied to the bench until Paul arrived and Nicola's phone remained, untouched, on the bench?

2.Did 'dog tying witness' talk to the pair who saw Nicola 'laughing and joking' as well as two people who 'tried to get the phone off lock screen' and man who suggested Nicola had had a 'medical event'? So, this is her testimony to the police? Poss hence police appeals for these people to come forward? Red jacket woman etc? All very unclear.

9:33am to 10:50am (from memory, is that right 10:50), we assume a secured Willow was at the bench, next to Nicola's phone which presumably Paul had rung, when exactly?

Willow's collar, seems she did have an identity disc, if so, whose number was on it and instead of multi guessing, why not call it? Perhaps the original witness did and it went to Nicola's phone? Whose number was on it.

Indeed, to the multiple witnesses, which does make it harder for me she was abducted down the only path she could have left by.

Peter Faulding is bringing a helicopter!

"Private dive expert Peter Faulding has told Metro that he plans to return to the scene where Nicola Bulley was last seen to continue helping in the search."

Let me guess piloting himself whilst simultaneously hanging off a rope looking for clues.

Unfortunately things tend to go downhill in the evening... but let's see and hope there's no more nonsense like yesterday...

Let's try to ensure that the positivity, common sense and intelligent points triumph and remain and don't get lost. Simply don't engage with the negativity I guess, the goal should always be Nicola and angry spats are unhelpful and distracting. All of us here are rooting for answers for her family and wish everyone concerned very well.

ImprobablePuffin · 13/02/2023 18:19

@Peverellshire @ofwarren I've been thinking about the other bodies of water that haven't yet been checked or looked at.
Are they in public or private land?
The only reason I can think of why they wouldn't have looked at these areas already is if they're on privately owned land.

The big one next to the field is owned by Rowanwater. I'm not sure on others.

I may very well be incorrect here, but I thought there was more than one path to leave the area by.

Oh totally
As long as he does the job I don't care if he abseils down St Michael’s Church to a fanfare.

You're not wrong, but police have ruled them out, I think (?) through CCTV, maybe someone can jump in and let us know if not etc. Important to clarify.

That sounds horrifically frightening @addinganidea and it really illustrates how someone with a gun might be able to compel silence in a victim, even when there are others in the vicinity.

Your thoughts about the possibility of wading through the shallows to a van parked hidden on the other side are exactly what's been playing on my mind over the last few days. Everyone has been very focussed on the known exits, paths and roads on the "same side of the river" but I've kept on returning to the mentions of the shallower parts of the river being very shallow on the day in question and the sightings of the red van parked down the quiet lane on the far side of the river.

It's unlikely, but it doesn't seem to be impossible (and tbh all of it feels pretty unlikely, but something must be true)

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 13/02/2023 18:26

Let me guess piloting himself whilst simultaneously hanging off a rope looking for clues.

This made me laugh. (Note no emojis or exclamation marks)

I have to say that round here the 09.30 mark is actually a quieter time. Only everyone is in work by then, has completed the school run and most dog walkers are out earlier because they need to start their day.

I have thought an accident not involving the river as well @melonraspberry and certainly her partner seems to think the answer lies locally.

addinganidea · 13/02/2023 18:29

@Peverellshire good points too. As you say, much easier to take Nicola in another situation. That's a logical evaluation.

On the other hand, could the public Strava data have alerted a sicko, or sickos, who weren't necessarily - in real life, away from the net - stalking her to begin with. True strangers. Internet stalking for routine, rather than physical stalking.

Unlikely. In hindsight, that seems all too convoluted and perhaps stems from the online chat around Strava data.

Thanks for comments on my ordeal. It's in the distant past now and I managed to get over it fairly swiftly. Weirdest thing was I sensed, on seeing them ahead, they would try and mug me (body language and looking like dodgy youth) and assumed I could/would just cycle by. In reality, one just stood right in front of the bike and I pressed the brakes. We can never really know how we'll react until the situation arises.

Goldpaw · 13/02/2023 18:29

I've also been wondering if she entered lower down and got across to the other side, either under duress or of her own volition.

But I keep going back to Willow. If she was told to stay but was found wandering around then she can't have seen where Nicola went otherwise instead of wandering she'd have followed her and be wandering where Nicola did go.

fairydust11 · 13/02/2023 18:34

@addinganidea really sorry to hear what you went through.

confounded234 · 13/02/2023 16:25

I think you need something like reasonable cause to get a warrant. Ie. you'd have to have some circumstantial evidence before to get a judge to issue that. But I'm not an expert so I might be wrong.

That's right, there needs to be something and that appears to be the prime issue in this investigation. I haven't got all the way to the end yet so apologies if someone has already responded, these threads move so quickly I didn't want to lose your post and not have responded.

melonraspberry · 13/02/2023 18:36

For me Occam’s Razor suggests something other than the water. I think if I’m right PF may find her . I can’t express more as it’s total speculation and involves a third party. Probably I’m wrong though.

melonraspberry · 13/02/2023 18:37

@addinganidea i hope you are ok now . Thanks for adding your experience, it’s certainly very relevant.
