Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but is there access to the field across which you could walk directly across to the weir?
Also, was the issue of the man who may have been at the scene early on clarified? Has he now been removed from the timeline?

Its all fenced off

@ofwarren Thank you clarifying.

VanGoghsDog · 13/02/2023 13:15

Her clothes didn't sound like wool to me. Puffa type long body warmer - they are usually polyester, maybe with down filling, or with artificial filling. But not wool.

Ankle boots (welly-bob style) and jeans - not wool.

A thin jacket under the body warmer, unlikely to be wool.

Maybe a woollen jumper under that. But predominantly not wool. So, the question is, would her clothing have weighed her down, or given her buoyancy? Both are being claimed by different people. Maybe it's impossible to know or really draw any conclusions.

@ofwarren Thank you clarifying.

That area behind the fence needs a thorough search though. I expect that's where Peter Faulding will go. I don't think it's privately owned, just fenced off to keep people from the weir.

I thought it was fenced off but that map you've posted shows a stile.

Yes, I agree and also fences may have gaps etc that could make them accessible to someone determined enough.

You are right, it does.
I've never been over there and didn't even think it had access.
I'm going to have to try and watch one of those videos where people have walked the site.

Also if you look at Google there are vehicle tracks in the field, so there must presumably be a way in off the path as well.

DerangedViper · 13/02/2023 13:26

There are still 2 theories about the phone, right? Was found on the bench by the lady, and was found on the ground by the man who came right after the lady, and then was put on the bench. Have it been corrected, which one was correct?

They could both be correct, as the dog (tied to the bench) coud have knocked an item off it

Bluebellwood129 · 13/02/2023 12:09

I think Willow's behaviour might indicate that she didn't see where Nicola went - that kind of reaction you see when you play hide and seek with some dogs who become agitated rather than staying calm and sniffing you out.

That’s what I thought and if it is the case it leans more towards a sudden fall into the water rather than being taken off somewhere.

I have also seen on a video from the summer that there is a track below and to the right of the bench along the riverbank going downstream - parallel and below the tarmac towpath above where she started the walk.

I don’t know if you can continue on past the weir then under the foot and road bridge to river path on the otherside of the village? I will try to find the video which shows this.

Quote from PF:
"She wouldn’t have been swept away, the clothing she was wearing, it wasn’t heavy wool so it wouldn’t absorb water so quickly as normal clothing."

Maybe I’m being thick but no idea what PF means. He’s saying exactly what I am surely? Her clothing may well have added buoyancy so didn’t sink to bottom. I’m so fixated on this because everything he says seems odd for a professional who’s spent life working with water. Also living near a watercourse I know exactly how fast flowing ours was due to the preceding rainfall (daily for weeks) and fast flowing isn’t immediately visible necessarily.

I've not heard anyone discuss this area at all really.
Do you remember when Tilly Ann posted on Facebook? She mentioned the dog running between the bench and the stile.
Maybe she meant THAT stile?

I've only ever been forward, towards the hut and walked round the fields. I didn't even know of this access. I don't understand why it's not been considered?

I agree - everything points to her being in the water, apart from the fact that she's not there. It's just so peculiar.

I think people are overlooking that witnesses' statements will not be an accurate representation of what happened or what they saw. e.g. when talking about the exact position of the phone/dog/harness.

I was out walking with someone at the weekend and out of interest, I asked them about some people we had walked past. If they could describe the people, dogs, whether dogs were on a lead. Stuff like that. We just don't pay attention, and our memories are bad and can easily become distorted or manipulated.

Yes but this is at odd with what her partner Paul said. He said in the interview school phoned him to say harness was half way down embankment.

I don't understand why that still wouldn't be the case? I'm talking about whether willow was running between the bench and the gate or the bench and the stile which is also next to the bench

@Bluebellwood129 you would have thought so but I'm beginning to doubt everything about how this case has been handled

User435787532 · 13/02/2023 13:46

Regarding @Emlouisehbaae post. I don’t think it’s relevant whether it’s ‘real’ or not. Nicola is a mother of young children and it’s not inconceivable to imagine her or her friends are on mumsnet. We are mostly going to be the exact same demographic and it says a lot that we’ve filled 8 threads discussing this. It’s heartbreaking and so pertinent. If it was my friend and I saw a thread on here I would 100% read it. I would want to know if there’s anything I hadn’t thought of. Unlike other SM sites this is moderated and mostly contributors are fully supporting the family. So regardless of the legitimacy of the post we should all be very mindful about what we write. If any any of Nicola’s family and friends do read this you are in my family’s thoughts and prayers everyday 💛

Oaktree55 · 13/02/2023 13:47

I just hope the family get some resolution it must be horrific to try and function if she’s never found. I came across this article which shows despite what PF claims I don’t think many drowning victims are found immediately.

ofwarren · 13/02/2023 13:47

Agreed
I'd be very surprised if not one of Nicola's female family or friends is on mumsnet
