Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

I saw a youtube clip posted a few days ago on here about wild swimming on the Wyre. It's a bit spooky weird and was actually on reddit initially but shows the area near the bench and the steep incline down to the river. In summer it's covered in vegetation but presumably in winter that will have died down and I guess is slippy.
The gap between the bench and the gate is small but there seems to be undergrowth behind it. The banks of the river also look perpendicular and difficult to get a grip of if you are stuck in the water.

Oh god yes, there is definitely a track! 😳

So if someone went that way and headed towards the weir, what potential options would there be to exit? Would it still be the same ones that have already been identified as being covered by CCTV plus the known blindspot?

Looking at the videos, I think so. There is a pathway onto the tow path.

@ofwarren Hmmm...OK and no CCTV coverage of that actual field I assume?

PF is bugging me now. I thought he was an underwater sonar expert but now he’s an expert on land too? It all just seems very strange how he’s behaving especially by courting the media so much. I understand people with expertise and equipment want to help but this seems odd to me.

You're just left with not knowing if she came out onto Blackpool Lane or whether someone entered via Blackpool Lane.

This is the camera at Rowanwater that looks over the upper field, that isn't working.
It really would have caught it all wouldn't it.

Damn that’s unfortunate. Could have held all the answers.

Speaking of unfortunate, recall a case of a missing woman in Florida (she’s still missing) and a camera captured images of a man (prime suspect) who had just parked her car shortly after she had disappeared. Problem is none of the images captured his face as in each frame his face was blocked by a post in the fence he walked past.

Just had a quick google, this is the case here. Talk about unlucky.

He's a forensic specialist

"He has been brought in to assist in the search for many cold cases and has located human remains and evidence that have gone undetected for years, in some of the most remote locations on land and underwater."

He's described as a confined space rescue and forensic search specialist.

Could you go past the weir and under the road bridge on the river bank on foot? Is the river it shallow at the edger if the bank runs under the bridge? What’s on the otherside?

I've absolutely no idea. All I know is if you get to the other side of that bridge, it's complete open countryside.

Ok I can understand how you would take help when offered and perhaps PF has the relevant qualifications to help beyond the river but he’s going about it all in a very bizarre way imo.

I read that Peter Faulding is a forensic expert that just specialises in water sonar technology.
Apparently he’s worked on a few high profile cases not involving water such as April Jones & Gareth Williams (spy in a bag).
I think as the police aren’t treating this as a crime - he’s offered to help. Which I don’t think is odd.
Yes, he seems to like a tv interview or two but at this point the search is no further on than from the day she went missing & they could frankly do with all the help they can get.

Oaktree55 · 13/02/2023 14:29

Yes of course but I’d imagine he’s going to struggle without the powers the police have as he’s going to need to access private land. Perhaps people will let him.

You're just left with not knowing if she came out onto Blackpool Lane or whether someone entered via Blackpool Lane.

There's the dashcam footage from the cars that drove past the entrance. Thankfully it's a main road, if it was a country lane there might be four vehicles an hour.

Plitvice · 13/02/2023 14:30

I also think that Willow should have been taken back the first time after it happened accompanied by a dog behaviour expert and scents. It is all very well Paul saying that Willow never led them to any clues but he probably couldn't pick up the subtle details and use their techniques.

I meant that from the point of view of CCTV it's the same as if she'd walked through the kissing gate.

Oaktree55 · 13/02/2023 14:32

I’ve just read he’s an ex Para, having worked with an ex Para his behaviour now makes perfect sense to me!

MucozadeOnLucozade · 13/02/2023 14:33

So yes looks like a path from the bench, thought those trees and down to the other side of the wyre.

She was taken back apparently - no reaction.

Re; Peter Faulding, he mentioned (a week or so ago) that he had worked on a previous case, where they found a missing woman’s shoe on the bank by a river. They looked for ages in said river, no sign of her. Eventually (not sure what the time frame was) she was found on a farm in a haystack….😞.

When he chose to recount that incident, I can remember thinking I bet he believes the same has happened again. In that the phone/harness were purposely left (planted) on the riverbank, and she’d be found no where near the river.
