@ofwarren ahh, thank you ! When was this posted?

And I'm sorry to ask if it has been mentioned already, but where was the dogs lead was it attached to the harness ? As it says on that post that the person who found the dog used string attached to the collar to tie her up?

Bluebellwood129 · 08/02/2023 22:05

@pigsinoodies Thank you 😀

I'm not sure on why string was used but not the lead. It's another confusing thing to add to the list of what doesn't make sense.

It's almost certainly true that if this wasn't receiving the media/social media attention that it is, that there wouldn't be 40 detectives on the job, and the NCA and Mr Expert involved.

MadAndGlad · 08/02/2023 22:06

You bullies all obviously have a lot more time than the rest of us. We all hope for the best outcome, that Nicola is found safe and well. That's what this thread is about after all.

MissingMoominMamma · 08/02/2023 22:07

I wonder why the police aren’t considering the possibility of criminal activity?

They have considered it, there is no evidence at this time to say it’s a criminal matter.

plumduck · 08/02/2023 22:08

I think people are keen to find her. But there's very little that sitting at home and saying "have they tried dogs" etc will do. If anyone does know anything they need to be telling the police not mumsnet.

davegrohll · 08/02/2023 22:10

@ofwarren thanks for clearing that up.
It is very strange - unless the lead was in Nicolas pocket maybe.

I've been swearing since the start mate. It's fucking exasperating. You can clearly see that this is thread 5 when you click on and instead of thinking 🤔 that's 4000 comments previous, posters actually type, "a springer would follow though, I wonder, has anyone thought of that?"

Fucking ridiculous 🤣 I'm local, it's obviously getting to me by now. Sorry for hurting any sensitive souls with a few fucks.

@itsnote and@ofwarren and anone else who is local - you have my sympathy - it is really frightening when someone disappears in an unexplained way near you. Sarah Everard was taken on a stretch of road which formed part of one of my night running routes as I felt it was safe as it was so busy. It is terrible for the family and friends but also scary for those living nearby who worry about their safety too. I really hope that she is found safe and well (looking unlikely now) but failing that I really hope for closure sooner rather than later for everyone.

How easy is it to walk along the river banks? Are there any paths on either side?

I need to express my distaste for these 4000+ posts speculating and salivating over details. This thread is the worst of mumsnet.

Absolutely.

Totally agree with you. I have reported two of these threads for exactly those reasons. Got emails full of weasel words back from Mumsnet justifying this ghoul-fest.

Just paths on the side she was on. Even then you can't just follow it all the way round. It's fenced off at the top near Rowanwater. If you accessed Rowanwater you could follow it quite a way.

Nope exactly the same 24 hours as you!

We are all bullies. We hope Nikki Bulley is, against the odds, found and reunited with her family.

stop whinging about a thread you don't approve of, yet you're bumping by posting repeatedly &find one of hundreds of other threads you do approve of.

This probably seems like such a crass thing to say but I just don’t think if you were planning to disappear that you’d take your dog with you and leave it. Nothing about this case makes any sense at all though. I am uncertain how anyone can say with any certainty that she wasn’t ever in the water. I’ve worked my whole career in the criminal justice system and the window of opportunity seems so tight for foul
play but as I said nothing about this is clear.

Really? You mustn’t have been paying attention…..

What about this case - same county - broad daylight middle of summer ….. murdered in under 10 minutes at 4pm - remained missing persons for 8 days.

lindsaybirbeck.lancs.live/

Or off duty community policewoman Julia James walking her dog one morning - murdered in seconds.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 08/02/2023 22:18

The lead may not have been used if it was say broken. The use of string is definitely confusing as it's not as robust as a harness and lead.

EarringsandLipstick · 08/02/2023 22:18

4000 posts that are very worried and are praying for a good outcome, yes terrible isn’t it that people care.

4000 posts wouldn't be needed to say just that.

Most posts are speculative, repetitive, critical of the police and voyeuristic.

That must have been dreadful
Did you stop night running or have you resumed?

@ofwarren So the police may be wrong and Nicola may have entered the water some way downstream of her bench area. It doesn't explain where Willow was found but she may have made her way back to an area she was familiar with.

It's possible yeah. If she went back the way she came through the gate, there is no cctv down there. It's what they are calling the 'river road'. She could possibly have gone in there near or after the weir.

If you were up for climbing fences etc. there's a footbridge to the other side of the river just past Rowanwater.

It almost definitely didn't happen though.

I'm not at all surprised it's getting to you, @itsnote , it's right on your doorstep.

The whole bloody business is just dreadful, but it must be so much worse when you're local.
