I think she has just vanished on her own accord - it all just seems so strange! For example sending a text to her friend at 9am in the morning to organise a play date, maybe she done this purposely to throw people off? The only CCTV camera that could of captured her wasn't working, is that really a coincidence? Maybe she made sure it wasn't working. Maybe she had someone collect her at the top car park, or had a car waiting so she could just go easily. I just think if it was an abduction you would try and leave something behind, eg throw something out of your pocket, earphones, hair bobble, a necklace, for us to find but there has been nothing found other than her phone which is the only thing you would make sure to take with you if you thought you were in danger you would grab onto it for dear life. But it was just sitting there on the bench? Also her dog was off the lead, maybe she took him off because she knew there were people nearby who would find him soon and he'd be safe. If she left him tied up to the bench maybe it would be more obvious for people to assume she'd 'left on her own accord'. Maybe she was sick of her 'picture perfect' life. I would like to think this is just a theory but you don't know what people are going through in their personal life

Almost makes you worry about seeking help for things like depression and anxiety. It would be awful to be abducted and everyone wasting time barking up the wrong tree because you’ve got poor mental health.

Or somewhere else.

Could the poor woman be in a wooded area that hasn’t been thoroughly searched because all the focus has been on the river simply because it’s there?

Plitvice · 09/02/2023 13:48

If I was planning to disappear, I absolutely would set up loads of playdates for my DC so that they would have things to take their mind off me and a sense of feeling supported within the community.

@Plitvice really? Surely you’d realise that nobody is going to be taking bereaved/ traumatised children on a play date?

Today, Lancashire Police confirmed it only received a call about the disappearance at 11am - almost two hours after the last confirmed sighting of Ms Bulley.

We can confirm a dispersal order was issued around 8.40pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 8) in St Michael’s on Wyre.

This followed reports of individuals – from outside the area of St Michael’s - filming on social media close to properties.

The order will remain in place for 48 hours and gives officers the power to disperse anyone committing anti-social behaviour.

Two dispersal notices were issued, and a number of other people were warned about their behaviour.

We hope that will give people some reassurance that we will not tolerate criminality, including trespass and criminal damage.

We are also aware of a number of grossly offensive comments being made on social media and elsewhere. We are looking into these and will not hesitate to take action where appropriate.

Our investigation to the disappearance of Nicola Bulley is continuing and we continue to search areas of the River Wyre and surrounding area.

People may have seen less police activity today than previously in the area of the river above the weir but that is not because we have stepped down our searches, it is because the focus of the search has moved further downstream into the area of the river which becomes tidal and then out towards the sea.

Anyone with information which could assist our investigation should call us on 101 quoting log 0565 of January 30th. For immediate sightings please call 999.

What, so you would want them to permanently sit at home with the exhausted/emotionally drained adults getting anxious? I wouldn't.

About a million easier ways to kill yourself than trying to drown in shallow water (especially given she was a strong swimmer) leaving her dog outside on his own. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I may not have made myself clear but I specifically said she didn't drown by the bench but that she left via gate and took herself to deeper water.

Goingforasong · 09/02/2023 13:57

There is a lot of wild speculation on here and I am still unfortunately of the opinion that the police are thinking it is a suicide and are doing all they can to recover her from the water. I still hope that she walked away to a new life but think it is unlikely.

There is however one piece of information that I am not sure about. Somewhere on this thread it was stated that Willow was tied up by string that was already on the dog's collar rather than the person that caught Willow providing the string. Can anyone clarify this or did I misread it? It would be very odd for the dog to have string on it's collar if it also had a lead and harness available.

Goldpaw · 09/02/2023 13:57

If you were suicidal then one look at that river would tell you it'd be a tough job to successfully drown yourself.

The weir is round the corner from the bench and even if she went there, it's tidal from that point and at 9.30am approx. it was low tide at Fleetwood.

It was below the weir that Peter F from SGI said his dinghy got stuck because it was so shallow.

I suppose she could have got in and waded out to the deeper point to do it but the general shallowness would mean somewhere along the river she'd be very visible because the tide wouldn't be at its highest until after 3pm.

So was the dog tied up with 'string' for 2 hours?
Some more questions to the finders and witnesses needs to happen I think.

It is highly unlikely that she would disappear leaving her kids to look for their mother and not contact a single relative/friend to confirm she was ok. It's completely implausible. And no, I wouldn't expect my kids would feel up to play dates whilst not knowing where I was and the whole country looking for me.

tonyhawks23 · 09/02/2023 13:58

This thread!that article is no new news.and please notice the sarcasm on the playdates.

We live near the estuary and the sea.
Surely if she wanted to drown she would go there?
Shard bridge is a common place for it.

The search for missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley has been moved to the coastline nearly two weeks after her disappearance.

It is awkward because they likely cannot share certain details until they are absolutely sure that she is gone but until they find some kind of evidence of this then they cannot fully rule out that she is still around.
Therefore, it sounds to the public like they are incompetent or liars when they are expressing what they can within tight parameters agreed with family with the welfare of her daughters being paramount.

Exactly and that makes it incredibly stressful for SR who will come under increasing pressure.

How far away is Shard Bridge? If she walked there wouldn't someone have noticed her somewhere along the route?

The last sighting is still in that field about 9am.

Goldpaw · 09/02/2023 14:03

Far too far to walk. You'd have to go in the car.
It just doesn't make sense to me that she'd choose to try and do it in that shallow river.
As a pp said, there are far easier ways to do it.

This is what I predicted, some foreshadowing going on etc, which is why I think PF had to make it this a vague possibility rather than a complete, laughable uncertainty. Then they will likely say where she entered the river when the time is right and will be sensitive. Hopefully there will be an end to this very soon and I think imminently. By end of weekend max.

Just had a look it's nearly nine miles by road!
