This is what I predicted, some foreshadowing going on etc, which is why I think PF had to make it this a vague possibility rather than a complete, laughable uncertainty. Then they will likely say where she entered the river when the time is right and will be sensitive. Hopefully there will be an end to this very soon and I think imminently. By end of weekend max.

I sincerely hope so 🙏

Just had a look it's nearly nine miles by road!

Yes, but it's deep and a commonly used spot.
Why would you choose to do it in a river that's up to your knees?
She knew how deep it was because the dog goes in.

Could the poor woman be in a wooded area that hasn’t been thoroughly searched because all the focus has been on the river simply because it’s there?

The police stated they have had the search/sniffer dogs out in the area.

A deceased body scent would be picked up from quite a distance.

Could be but I'm sure police will already have thought of this and probably would have checked wooded areas from helicopter?

I've no idea where a cake shop is round there
Hall lane is the street that you would go down to access the 'abandoned mansion'.

Thwy are now searching where the river flows out to the sea.

Still don't really understand why the dog didn't follow her if she left via the gate towards the road. I guess it could be very well-trained to stay, but that doesn't fit with reports of it running around agitated a few minutes later. It looks like it would be very easy for a spaniel to get through the fencing next to the gate if it was loose.

Sugarfree23 · 09/02/2023 14:15

Thinking about the comparisons to when the boy went into the same stretch of river 45years ago. People saying that was before the weir was built.

When was the weir built and what was it built for?

My limited knowledge of weirs is they seem to be old and built to channel water towards mills or turbines. I can't think what you'd use one for in modern time for.

I've just posted saying why I think it's unlikely she deliberately got in the water at the bench or the weir.

I also think it's unlikely she travelled over 8 miles on foot to the bridge, unless she was a keen jogger and was wearing a suitable outfit to head that way, and that also disguised her enough that people wouldn't notice it was her.

Which is possible I suppose but there are easier ways to do it.

I don't know when but I imagine it's due to flooding issues. It can flood really really badly there.

I watched a video today of a spaniel just going through the fence next to the gate. It's just a normal wooden fence.

It sounds awful but I do hope it was a tragic accident and her body is found. Her two girls having to grow up worrying if they did something wrong (if it was suicide), worrying about anything awful happening to her (if it was an abduction) or just never knowing would be awful. I can’t get her out of my mind and all the speculation makes it worse.

Murders and MP I have never even heard of have been mentioned on these threads and it’s really hit home how dangerous the world is for women. I’m 24 and had a few encounters that felt odd, like being chased as I mentioned on my previous post. I can’t help but look over my shoulder when I walk now even in broad daylight. A client asked me what time I finished yesterday and whether I was on my own and it made the hairs on my neck stand up. It was probably innocent but I was unnerved.

I just hope she is found and the family can get some closure and the poor residents can stop being targeted

Yes exactly. My dog wouldn't bother with the gate at all and she's bigger than a springer. So I wonder why Willow stayed there and didn't follow if she was loose and if Nicola walked off down the path.

Agreed
Though agonising either way, it's the least painful outcome for the family.

On Sky News now and they're looking in the sea at Morecambe Bay, they're still definitely convinced she's in the water then. Trying to find somebody in the sea must be beyond difficult.

EXCLUSIVE: If someone is behind the disappearance of Nicola Bulley, they may be using rampant speculation to deliberately distract and frustrate the police's investigation, a missing persons expert has told Express.co.uk

Yes, or if the timeline isn't quite right and she was tied up before Nicola left, I suppose. That doesn't make a lot of sense though.

ofwarren · 09/02/2023 13:51

Wow 😳

I think that fits though with the known timeline posted by the family friend. Dog walker family called school at 10.50 who then called Paul , who then called the police. Not sure why they feel the need to release this now though.

I think they've gone over the whole river and not found her so now the only place left to look is the sea. Whether they really think she is in the sea I don't know. Trying to find her in such a wide expanse does seem like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I read that the bodies of 2 of the cockles who died in the Morecambe bay disaster were never found.

I'm confused. What's the relevance to which cake shop she went to? I read it that she passed Hall Lane on her way - doesn't specify if she was in a car or on foot. Just she was heading out to buy a cake, and she passed the vehicle which she thought was suspicious and flagged it on the day and again later.

Although the way the Sun has carefully worded the article - I think it's click bait. The Police 'might be' searching for a van - i.e we haven't spoken to the police about this but we passed some lady in the street who told us and now we're making it look like it's part of the investigation - when we called the police they said they were investigating all leads. Clever but sensationalist journalism.

Goingforasong · 09/02/2023 13:57

There is a lot of wild speculation on here and I am still unfortunately of the opinion that the police are thinking it is a suicide and are doing all they can to recover her from the water. I still hope that she walked away to a new life but think it is unlikely.

There is however one piece of information that I am not sure about. Somewhere on this thread it was stated that Willow was tied up by string that was already on the dog's collar rather than the person that caught Willow providing the string. Can anyone clarify this or did I misread it? It would be very odd for the dog to have string on it's collar if it also had a lead and harness available.

@Goingforasong I said it but I probably misinterpreted her friend's post saying "with string attached to collar " rather than by attaching string to collar.

I meant round there in general
St Michael's doesn't have an actual shop, never mind a cake shop.
