I went on tiktok for the first time last night and it’s another level of crazy. I was too scared to watch some of the videos, people out in the dark with torches breaking in to buildings etc. I thought Twitter was mad but it seemed sane in comparison

I daren't even look.
Some pop up on twitter occasionally and I skim past quickly.

Have they searched the water above the wyre yet where there's a current and goes out to sea?

I don't know the area, but been looking on Google maps. It would have been quite easy to walk through gate, to the road, cross road onto next field area without being seen.

It's all so tragic and I really don't think it will ever be solved.

That's where the police are focusing on now.
Agree that it's easy to get to the fields across the road. I shared a photo of it the other day.

As mentioned before, must be a reason for the police insisting on her being in the water and no third-party involvement.

Sadly believe it's a suicide:

  • Left dog in area known to it and where it was safe
  • Phone on the bench (or, if found on the grass, knocked off by dog) and with Teams on to help others track the dog
  • Left via gate to take herself to deeper water (as she knew it would be too shallow near the bench)
  • Fitbit/FB being turned to private in the last couple of months - maybe something happened in her private life for her to do this, relationship issues etc
  • Maybe she was triggered by reading a notice/FB post or similar of the boy who drowned on the day 45 years ago
  • Left keys in car (if substantiated) and locked so it would not get stolen

Feeling for all involved.

I don't think there is any evidence she left the keys in the car. There's been no report of that anywhere, it was just conjecture from someone on this forum I expect.

And maybe the meeting with her boss was to hand things over. To 'finalise' things...not uncommon and others would not necessarily notice as they can seem so focused

lifeturnsonadime · 09/02/2023 13:18

I doubt she would even know how to pull off a disappearance.

Oh come on, it's an unlikely scenario but to suggest an intelligent woman wouldn't be able to fake their own disappearance is ridiculous.

I know that if I ever wanted to , I could do it, it's really not as hard as some on here would believe.

No evidence at all she met with her boss. Again, this is just a chinese whisper that has grown without foundation

Doesn't make the other points valid though.

If you are going to quote facts on here at least get them right. The Lancashire Police website says that she was wearing a knee length gilet with a hood, which is exactly what she is wearing in the Ring doorbell footage.

The information has been corrected after Nicola's family issued the CCTV footage. The description from the police prior to that was an ankle length gilet.

confounded234 · 09/02/2023 13:19

I think people on this forum have to remember that if you are going to post a "fact" then it needs to be backed up by a reputable news source. Otherwise it is just speculation.

I agree that your other points have some validity, apart from the keys locked in the car. There's no evidence for that.

No this is true

"We took them home, Nicola had had a meeting with her boss in Garstang and she said can you stay a bit later because I have an important client coming in on Zoom."

It kind of makes sense as a mortgage advisor if on commission you might meet with people in the evening . And maybe a few colleagues live near so her boss was doing a round robin . Hence why it’s quite chilled re walking while in a meeting, as they often have to work into the evenings.

SoNoWrecksToday · 09/02/2023 13:28

I still don’t understand the reasoning behind police not properly considering third party or criminal involvement so early on. It was one of the first things they said based on ‘no evidence’.

Surely based on probability alone, an investigation into a woman suddenly missing in strange circumstances should be immediately moved to ‘suspicious’ mode. Tragically women are attacked, murdered and kidnapped on a frighteningly regular basis in this country. Women toppling randomly into rivers and disappearing like a dissolvable aspirin are vanishingly rare.

But could you really? It is not just the act of disappearing by yourself but surviving day in day out for decades from middle age until death with no access to your savings and probably no decent shelter.

If you had the means to clone an entire new identity and have a lot of surgery, then sure, but why would she choose that?

It would be different if she was with somebody else who could help her and fund her.

Yes I think I could with planning. Lots of people live under the radar.

I'm not saying she would.

Just that if you really want to escape and not be found you can. You definitely wouldn't need extensive surgery. There are so many people in the world who look pretty non descript, wouldn't stand out in a crowd.

In correct - this is the least likely probability of the options - accident, suicide, choosing to leave her life behind - on face value and even more so if police have specific personal background info.

What do you want them to do if the evidence isn't there? They haven't said they aren't looking (they are) but if its not there, it's not there!

About a million easier ways to kill yourself than trying to drown in shallow water (especially given she was a strong swimmer) leaving her dog outside on his own. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
