It would be almost impossible for a body to go over the weir. I have canoed over the weir many times and if the water is low, as it was on the day NB went missing, it is difficult to get over in a canoe, a body wouldn't go over it. The river at this point is quite docile unless flooded, that's why canoeists use it.

However, looking at the path taken it is possible NB fell in after the weir. The river after the weir is tidal, tides push up all the way to the weir. I have had BBQ's on the little beach just past the weir and sometimes the river changes direction when the tide comes in on the Fylde Coast as it pushes back towards the weir, but not past it.

This is what I was thinking yesterday. They don't have cctv there either so it's entirely possible.

The fitbit hadn't been undated since the Tuesday. Not unusual if she's got it on manual sync to save battery. When the police said "they've looked at the fitbit data" they mean they've looked at the data that's on the phone/her fitbit account, and double checked it hadn't been synced, IMO. If they recover the fitbit they might be able to get data off of it because it's waterproof to a certain degree.

Renoir56 · 09/02/2023 07:57

I have a Fitbit and it only synchs when I manually open the app - I don't keep it open all the time. It synchs via Bluetooth so needs to be close to the phone.

The idea that it tracked her swimming is utterly ludicrous.

i hope I’m not going to get a “fuck me “ answer so I apologise if this has been already mentioned, do we know what the teams meeting was about, was any discussions around company new restructure or redundancies, I don’t know something that Nicola got really afraid of at losing her job and decided to enter the water by herself, I know is horrendous to think about suicide specially as she has two little girls at home but the post that it said that she was told by the police if a phone is spot on it owns to call 999 immediately, we don’t know how her state of mind was or if they had financial difficulties and I feel that this was the first option the police thought about as they are so determined that she is in the water, I know someone who committed suicide in one of his walks, leaving his wife and children behind and no one suspected anything

I don't know how true this is. Without the actual evidence, it's best not to speculate.

Your speculating about what happened with the expert diver when in fact it may have been a mutual decision due to all the flack he was receiving? Could be a number of reasons.

If she fell in past the weir - i.e. on her way back to the car - the dog and phone wouldn't be at the bench.

coffeesunrise · 09/02/2023 08:08

The most likely scenario by far is that she’s further down the river or at sea. The chances of her being abducted or staging a disappearance are vanishingly small generally, never mind in this scenario where it’s been actively investigated and there’s nothing to suggest it so far.

Sadly people drown every week, it’s entirely normal to search and then when that’s exhausted, wait.

I think people want evidence she went in the river, when in reality the fact she can be placed there and then has never been seen again, is the ‘evidence’. It’s not a criminal case and there’s no reason it should be.

Unless she was taken back that way

I'm repeating what was said on Talk TV?

No, nothing has been mentioned about the teams meeting

He owns Ansell engineering though. But why walk else where to enter the water? has her dog had a issue down near the weir? I don't think she is the suicide type. I still think some one approached her making her get up dropping the harness and phone. I think who ever approached she knew the person.

Crumpetdisappointment · 09/02/2023 08:12

perhaps the dog was stuck in brambles at a different part of the river, she released him, fell in.

How can you say she is not the suscidal type? There are a lot of people that paste a smile on their face even though they are deeply unhappy. There are also lots of people that have committed sucide and their families and friends had not a clue that they were going to do it.

dawngreen · 09/02/2023 08:18

I did not notice any brambles any where close to the river in the videos. Maybe he went near the weir.

DingDonkey · 09/02/2023 08:19

GoldenTicketForMummy · 09/02/2023 07:46

If it auto synchs maybe bluetooth was on and she did enter the water near her phone wherever the phone was at the time (not necessarily near the bench).

Scenario: phone drops on the ground for some reason she enters the water for some reason (voluntarily or involuntarily) she swims or tries to swim and phone logs swimming hence the police know she entered the water.

This could be the evidence they don't want to share with the public. Maybe it's not true that the FB didn't synch since Tuesday.

Even if the fitbit was capable of this (which I don't think it is) I can't see any reason the police wouldn't release this info.

Allgoodthings1 · 09/02/2023 08:20

I know the harness thing has been covered already but it is entirely possible the dog actually still had her harness on and someone has either tried to take Nicola and had to fight Willow off, where the person has ended up taking the harness off or alternatively they’ve been trying to take Willow and Nicola has fought back, grabbing her harness and they’ve undone it. It would make sense to then drop the harness and phone on the ground (as it’s been mentioned so many times it was actually on the ground initially).

Surely fingerprints on Willow’s harness/Willow and potentially any DNA they could have got from her mouth (if she’s tried to bite them) would have been the crucial piece of info they needed. It’s highly likely if someone has taken her Willow has got close enough for them to touch her, even if there was no struggle

He owned Ansell Engineering until 2019. It doesn't exist now. But it's irrelevant anyway since it wasn't based at the caravan park and doesn't own it.

Some arse has googled the company's former address, seen that it's next to a caravan park and the river, assumed it's the caravan park that's being discussed and made up a story about him owning it.

LadyHarmby · 09/02/2023 08:22

Think how different this case would seem if we knew she was suffering depression. Or her husband was leaving her. Or was struggling with her children. Or had gone bankrupt. They’re simple, random examples of the kind of information that the police would not release to the public yet would explain why they’re working on the river hypothesis. We don’t know everything and we are not entitled to.

RubyPip · 09/02/2023 08:22

@dawngreen

I don't think she is the suicide type

Just to say - that's quite offensive. There is no suicide 'type'. Anyone can suffer with mental health issues, I work in a crisis center and there really can be no signs whatsoever.

In many cases I've worked with, the person who tragically took their life actually seemed to family to be doing 'better' and be content and well. It's fairly common for someone to make plans to end their life and feel relieved their pain will be over, hence it being such a huge shock.

I'm not saying I believe Nicola has taken her life, though. Not in the context and circumstances in which she went missing.

I’m not suggesting any of those things BTW. I’m just saying there could be a big piece of the jigsaw we are unaware of and the police are.

'The most likely scenario by far is that she’s further down the river or at sea'

-SGI have already said this isn't possible due to the low water level and slow flow.

They need to check past the weir towards the other areas. I was asked why I knew their business address was at the park. I do not make stuff up!!!

Just been revealed the Caravan park near where #NicolaBulley disappeared was owned by Ansell engineering and Paul Bulley was a Director of the company. Maybe some one had an issue with them? who knows.

What is your source for this please?

She may simply not have enabled Bluetooth on her phone to sync it since Tuesday - I know I turn my Bluetooth off permenantly as it drains my battery.

I turn it on manually to sync my fitness tracker about once a week, sometimes every 2 weeks, and I do a lot of activity. I know it's all stored so I'm never in a rush to sync it over.

Same.

Mine doesn’t sync until I turn Bluetooth on and open the app. Also, I have my app on my iPad, not my phone, and my Fitbit and iPad have to be fairly close.

what a stupid comment!
