where did you get this photo from? I thought it was the wooden stile they were referring to?

Video on the DM website. I think the metal gate's relatively new. The pics on Streetview show something wooden there four years ago.

The idea seems to be that they must have hard evidence or they wouldn’t put all their eggs in one basket but - there was no concrete evidence Claudia Lawrence was a MP, there was no concrete evidence that Colin Stagg killed Rachel Nickell, that Barry George killed Jill Dando - the police were wrong on all of those.

What concrete evidence could there be?

If they have evidence that "Mr Fawley" isn't privy to, then, if this is just a missing person case with third party involvement almost completely ruled out, why haven't they at least shared it with the family, who might at least get some closure?

And if she was hurt or in the water I wonder why the dog didn’t follow her in, most dogs will have been frantic. And barking.

If it saw her go in. Dogs go off and sniff things on their walks, they wander about. They aren’t glued to their owner staring at them when they have been let off the lead.

Mirabai · 08/02/2023 17:01

There’s CCTV footage of her in it

And people commenting on that picture can't agree on what's she's wearing or whether she might have had another coat in the car

Quite. And if they were 100% certain she was in the water why wouldn’t they share it with PF? It would help him with the search.

If they’ve killed Nicola accidentally in the altercation they potentially would panic though and leave the dog, tying it up to stop it following

There would have been signs or sounds from an altercation.

If they had left the dog they certainly wouldn't have taken the time to tie it up.

Of all the possible scenarios this seems so far fetched.

ah I see. I thought her friend had talked about a stile.

Activelyannoyed · 08/02/2023 17:04

Literally all we know is

she was seen at 8.50 walking the dog in the lower field.

she was seen in the upper field at 9.10 with the dog. But that’s approximate timing and it doesn’t look like a 20 min walk from the lower field to the upper field , so could have been way earlier.

her possessions were found at 9 35 on a bench. With the harness on the ground and the dog in the vicinity. The dog “looked worried” according to the finder. And was far enough away the finder said she saw something on the ground and went over to see what it was. So the dog was running loose in the vicinity,

‘the river there is max 12 inches deep on entry, it gets deep in the middle. Which is about 20 feet further out.

police divers that after noon found no trace of her, no passers by saw her and later a helicopter with thermal imaging couldn’t find her
the water was calm that day.

her Fitbit stopped syncing the previous Tuesday.

her mate Emma did a go fund me, initially for 100 grand, to apparently help with the currently free search and help Paul out during this time. Paul knew nothing about this.

the mate is front and centre, doing media interviews and active on social media in her drive to help. Even went with Paul today to the river.

the rest of her family have went quiet. Her sister asked four days ago for people to keep an open mind that she didn’t go in the river. Everything else seems to be coming now from Paul and mainly the friend Emma.

that’s it. Everything else is noise.

Family and friends have clarified. It looks blue but is black. It looks like a coat but is in fact a gilet.

melonraspberry · 08/02/2023 17:05

She has a work Facebook page, it is full of photos of her and Willow on that walking and saying they do it each morning. It wouldn’t take much for a stalker to find her .

Goldpaw · 08/02/2023 17:05

confounded234 · 08/02/2023 17:00

You can add Colin Jefferies to that list. I burst out laughing when they said he'd been arrested for murder. A less likely murderer was hard to imagine.

A few pages ago someone said they wouldn't mind allowing the police to search their house and garage without a warrant.

I wouldn't because a search can mean ransacking the place and ripping up the floorboards like they did with Colin Jeffries, the poor man!

So I'd say no and wait for them to be given a warrant, which I think only comes when they have good cause to require one.

If they're sticking with this belief of her falling in then no one is going to give them a warrant to search the house across the river.

StarDolphins · 08/02/2023 17:06

houselikeashed · 08/02/2023 15:10

The whole dog situation appears odd to me.
I believe the dog was dry when she was found. So willow had not been struggling to get out of the river.
but why/how was her harness off?? As a dog owner I never take the actual harness off when we’re out. What is the significance of that?

Possibly because Willow goes in the river swimming often & the harness get soaked or might get caught on something. Everyone does different things & Tilly Ann I’m sure that they take it off as they go in.

plenty of pics of willow swimming previously without the harness.

She does, that's what confuses me.
Is she referring to a different gate/stile or has Tilly got confused?

He went for a meeting with Peter Faulding. He spoke to him there about the case for over an hour.

I was thinking about this today... I fell over recently and my dog came and stood next to me whilst I got up and brushed myself down... if someone attacked me and dragged me off she would follow me!
So if she was attacked maybe the dog was tied up to stop it following her!?

It just my doesn't add up no of it does

neurospicygal · 08/02/2023 17:11

tldr all threads so apologies if pp have already suggested this... had a look at the aerial pictures of the area...has anyone searched the wooded areas nearby within 2 miles of the phone/dog? Many of these are easily accessible on foot i would expect and wouldn't be covered by cctv. Pure speculation I will keep to myself but I think it imperative to thoroughly check the trees and undergrowth if not already done.

Tavaress · 08/02/2023 17:11

It's as if the police have a vital piece of information to think she has been in the river, the specialist says her body isn't there now. I heard her friend saying she could of come out of a gap by the road, might be one of those cases when we never found out.

Walkinmeshoes · 08/02/2023 17:11

@Cassie4 it's tidal beyond the weir I believe.
The tree next to the bench has a sign that warns people of deep water.
The local angling club says there are areas of the river that are dangerous.
In the area of the river across from the bench there's a spot called 'deep hole' which says it all (!) on one of the fishing maps but then I'm pretty sure I read that over the last 150 days the level has been between 0cm and 2.51 m so not especially deep particularly at the edge.
When you look at the size of the Wyre close to Fleetwood you realise the chances of finding her are poor if she drowned...

No, all the focus has been on the river area

Peter Faulding has a professional reputation to uphold, so I think his opinion in these matters (he's an expert on this with 20+ years experience) trumps a police officer who doesn't get the basic facts right.

No I'm not expecting the police to tell us everything but I do expect the things they do tell us to be correct.

Otherwise how can we be confident about anything they tell us.

@Qwayserdeyas yes I’ve heard PF say that twice now. But if no one saw her, how do they know ?

they are not being thorough enough so far then :(

Tidsleytiddy · 08/02/2023 17:15

Plitvice · 08/02/2023 16:55

The dog may have had nothing to do with it at all. I mean, she could have suddenly needed a wee and being far away from home and unable to wait, have put her phone on the bench to keep it safe and tried to find a slightly hidden spot by the river but fallen in accidentally.

I think she’d have put the phone in her pocket. I really do think the placement of the phone and other belongings could be a decoy. If the police are so adamant Nicola is in the river why are they asking for dashcam pictures etc and saying there are officers working on all other lines of enquiry?
