The amount of people looking at a photo of the river deciding it’s safe. Even the diver questioning has said on camera it was 4m in middle!!!

I think that some of the scepticism about the police and their ability to manage this case comes from those of us who can remember the Suzy Lamplugh disappearance, and that of Claudia Lawrence.

With hindsight, the police made a lot of errors.

The police know who killed Claudia lawrence. They just can’t prove it as no one is willing to talk.

itsnote · 08/02/2023 13:02

"hmm, that was with response to “some dogs don’t go into water” - so fairly relevant really"

There's no evidence her dog would take a leap of faith which is what it would need to do if she went in where the dog was found. And clearly it didn't.

"There's no livestock in the area. Chickens are kept indoors now. The upper and lower fields do not have sheep."

@placemats there are sheep on the caravan site and I'm not sure how they've dealt with the chickens but the advice is as loose as to keep them under mesh. The issue with dogs roaming onto the site from the field has been a bone of contention for a lot longer than the recent avian flu.

Have they still got pigs there?
Used to hear them oinking and snuffling against the fence when we were walking down the path to the river.

She does!

What does this mean, can someone catch me up!? Who is Emma, what GoFundMe and who took the dog out in the car? Thank you xx

User963 · 08/02/2023 10:38

I also don’t know why they haven’t searched the lake by the top field and all the caravans.

How do you know they haven't?

Blessedwithsunshine · 08/02/2023 13:04

I will say this if Nicola had been a 6ft 2 man if sound mind walking his dog first thing, and mid teams meeting, do you think the police would have leapt to the same conclusion that he was silly enough to fall in to a shallow river ‘by accident’ in the middle of January? And not bother opening a criminal investigation?

The whole theory of this case is dependent on an established, middle aged professional not having the sense to stay away from a river in the middle of the winter.

Given the lack of evidence, I would be insulted by this offensive this insinuation if I was related to her. Do we really think that is what happened? Because I just don’t buy it, she would have repeatedly reminded her own children to stay away as we all do on their walks there.

Bluebellwood129 · 08/02/2023 13:04

@Goldpaw Based on the information that's in the public domain and assuming it's correct, it looks like a total shambles.

2anddone · 08/02/2023 13:04

It's a very strange situation. I don't believe she is in the water, I don't think she has been abducted either. I think she has run off with someone she was having an affair with. It would explain the dog running backwards and forwards to the gate, if it was premeditated she could have been putting money to one side for weeks or months unnoticed and be living off that cash and her new partners income. Yes she is recognisable from the papers/news etc but nothing a change of hair colour and style wouldn't fix. I still think she will turn up alive.

mamacattiva · 08/02/2023 13:05

Perhaps she put her phone in her pocket to take the dogs harness off, followed her dog to keep an eye and her phone fell out of her pocket (was found under a tree by the bench). Then she could have been carelessly looking for it when she hit her head on something (a branch?) coming up from looking on the ground? Lost her balance/consciousness and went head first down the bank into the shallow water where she hit her head again?

Awful typing that out but seems plausible.

OntarioBagnet · 08/02/2023 10:39

If she has been kidnapped those police are going to be in the shit

I agree. Far too much hope that she’s in the water.

I just can’t believe she’d leave her girls behind. Not a chance. You don’t take them to Centre Parcs one month then run off and leave them the next. she’s clearly devoted to them.

can you IMAGINE the backlash she’d face as well 😳

ITV
"After spending over an hour talking to the underwater rescue team Paul Ansell- Nicola’s partner- emerges from the incident support unit."

It will be interesting to hear what Peter says to the press next.

Almost definitely, and they'd have given up looking by now. It happens all the time.

She does!

I also thought this, she looks more like the cctv than the photos of nicola we have seen. She does seem be quite involved in all the media.

Just people being conspiracy theorists.
You are best searching twitter for stuff like that.
The post will get shut down if people start with those ideas.

Ffs!!

Reporting this thread. Hideous comments re affair how can you be so cruel!

No evidence of anything like this utterly shocking gossip when these are real lives we are talking about.

This is the internet where her relatives can read this shire not your face book group

Police extend search into sea as far as Morecambe Bay

I find this bazaar.

No mention of any source of scientific evidence to support that a body could travel that far from falling in the river at the point they think NB did . Or have I missed something ?

Blessedwithsunshine · 08/02/2023 13:11

Genuinely wondering how many professional adults you know fall into the river randomly, mid call, in the winter whilst walking their dog, mysteriously banging their head on a rock and drowning never to be found?
It sounds preposterous.

Wow. You're insinuating that Emma White masqueraded as her friend on cctv to presumably give Paul an alibi. And then set up the phone and dog. Managed to evade cameras. And then play the distraught friend.

That's beyond bonkers and totally twisted. Nicola dropped off her kids so presumably you don't think they might have noticed. And people at school. A puffa coat and a high ponytail aren't infallible disguises.

Secondly even just indulging your barminess, she'd hardly carry on with the look a like game.

High octane conspiracy theories.

Reported the affair comments.

Hope this awful gossipy thread gets pulled. Some people seem to be actually enjoying spreading spite snd awful gossip.

CaMePlaitPas · 08/02/2023 13:14

I think she has slipped on wet rock/mud, hit her head and fallen into the river. It's almost impossible to search these kinds of rivers thoroughly because visibility is so bad, especially in January/February time. Unfortunately it's entirely possible she's being held under the water by her coat being trapped on something, she's only a slight woman. I suspect a body will surface in spring/summer. It's a tragedy.

WimbyAce · 08/02/2023 13:15

I think they need to check the credibility of the witnesses. Was it definitely Nicola who was seen? Or did people just see woman in coat with dog and presume.
