I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

Not to mention there’s been no new information since the day she disappeared. So there’s a vacuum that needs filling.

Why does the vacuum need filling though? It's like people are keen for the body to be found so then they have the answer to their mystery & can reassure themselves. They feel safe again & can move on.

Errr yeah, I don't think it's unreasonable for people to want reassurance that there isn't another nutter on the loose kidnapping lone women.

puppacup · 08/02/2023 07:45

There's always nutters kidnapping & murdering woman though. Plus no one knows if that has actually happened.

If she has been harmed, we all know it's far more likely to be by someone she knows than completely random.

crocusfocus · 08/02/2023 07:46

@30yearsYounger not sure.

I think a lot of people have a great affinity with this case as they are mothers too, and this was a mum just going about her daily life. It could have been any one of us.

I come back to the threads and the news story as I can't seem to forget the idea of little girls being ever hopeful for their mum to come home. It is utterly heartbreaking, and yes in that there is a compulsion to keeo an eye on the updates. I don't think that is harmful or wrong.

I find some of the speculation harmful and wrong- but that says more about the poster

There has not been a kidnapping or a murder in this area as long as I can remember!
It's a safe place. Everyone knows everyone.

Sorry, I meant there’s an instinctive human need to fill it, not that it requires to be filled.

I don’t think she fell in the river, she’s a runner and has walked that route numerous times too. Nothing has been found in the river such as car keys, any clothing, AirPods, dog poo bags etc.

The police seem to accept she went into the water and need the dash cam footage more to prove she didn't leave than to prove that she did.

Being near a body of water like this means the most likely outcome is that she ended up in the water.

Why is everyone struggling to comprehend this?

People are struggling to comprehend because

  1. lack of slip marks on the riverbank.
  2. Dog was dry
  3. She hasn’t been found in the river which is slow moving
  4. Dog found at gate of park, not raising alarm at rivers edge.

Yes of course this doesn’t mean she didn’t unfortunately somehow enter the river but that’s why people have doubts that she did.

Bit random but what about all those physics out there who claim to be genuine, can't they tell us what happened, just saying.

puppacup · 08/02/2023 07:49

There has not been a kidnapping or a murder in this area as long as I can remember!

But there has been in other areas & again you are speculating that this is what has happened.

It's a safe place. Everyone knows everyone.

And so are lots of places.

Bouledeneige · 08/02/2023 07:49

I don't think it's evil people are speculating. There's a whole website -Websleuths - which covers crimes as they happen where people speculate and theorise on cases like this (including this one and Emma Pattison currently). On occasion it comes up with leads that help the police. As ever, if you find it distasteful don't read it. It's obvious what this thread is about.

So people in the village shouldn't take precautions? We should just not talk about the possibility that foul play happened?

Sorry, I meant there’s an instinctive human need to fill it, not that it requires to be filled.

Obviously whatever happened is tragic but I think i'm uncomfortable that for some people the need for them to feel safe again is actually the motivating factor as opposed to concern for the victim.

You can think both those things at once you know

I didn't actually realise what the thread was truly about until I read it though...😆

It's possible to feel empathy for the victim and their family and at the same time feel concern for your own safety.

puppacup · 08/02/2023 07:54

Of course, I'm just making the point that some don't.

Oh haha, silly you, how funny...

Crumpetdisappointment · 08/02/2023 07:54

i imagine the police dont want women in particular to worry about being on their own,
they dont want people to play detective and go searching the derelict house and the caravans

puppacup · 08/02/2023 07:54

How can you possibly know this?

Crumpetdisappointment · 08/02/2023 07:55

where i walked my dog on monday there were masses of lone women walking their dogs.
we dont need to be worried for our safety

puppacup · 08/02/2023 07:59

So people in the village shouldn't take precautions? We should just not talk about the possibility that foul play happened?

Of course locals will talk about something in their area. I don't think that's the same as looking at someone's Strava etc.

However if foul play did happen by a stranger it's incredibly unusual & your own risk hasn't increased.

We will just have to agree to disagree.

Allgoodthings1 · 08/02/2023 07:59

I saw a post about their company P & N ENGINEERING LTD but when you google it their names show as:

Miss Nicola Jane Purdy
Mr Paul Threadkell

Could be different people but her middle name is also the same. Unless Bulley is her previous married name?

itsnote · 08/02/2023 07:59

@Crumpetdisappointment women don't need to be worried for their safety?

Deluded
