I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

@smileladiespleaseAgreed, a “Grass cutter” in early Feb?
Must be some very special grass that grows in winter..

smileladiesplease · 08/02/2023 00:23

They can indeed. One if my dds was involved in a nationwide reported incident think sky news for 2 days. We had press outside the school offering pupils a tenner to talk about her and other pupils involved. It was a shocking nightmare. Dd was 12. We had reporters outside our house.

People just don't realise that's why threads like this with idle speculation and finger pointing are (as the police said today) so unhelpful and damaging to the family.

I hope it gets taken down

Honestly, the point the poster was making was clear but it has made me wonder - who own those fields and how are they accessed by vehicles?

He's also being judged because he hasn't found Nicola yet. No one even knows if she ever went into the water at all. He appears to have better equipment than the police so what harm can he do searching again.

oh yes...Press will exploit anyone, and 'Not let the truth get in the way of a good story''
When Prince Harry was smoking his weed in friend's village, press were offering money to anyone to spill the beans.

One friend of Harry's was offered really good money ''Name your price''...She refused.

Good for her.

There was a case in USA where a woman {Heidi Broussard} and her baby went missing.
Her male partner was ''hung drawn and quartered by armchair detectives saying the he was guilty because of his body language.

Turned out the poor woman was killed for her newborn baby.

By a woman friend. Terrifying .

Husband totally innocent.

I think her dog stayed where it last saw her.
It was mentioned somewhere that when Willow was taken back to the scene, she repeatedly focused on the gate not the bench or the river - I can't find that now though, only that she was definitely taken back there.

Any luck with a source to back that statement up? Since social media is being focused on by the police as causing harmful speculation and misinformation its time posters start making sure their "statements" are supported by documentation or clearly written as an opinion

kateandme · 08/02/2023 04:08

if she does that same walk. could someone in the caravan park watch her. no down to the second what her routine was. on the day grab her, being that was where the camera was down. keep her in the caravan and then leave as and when they planned their stay.
have all people that left the caravan or were there been questioned.

He’s talking too much imo. If he’d been engaged by the police he’d have to keep his thoughts to himself. He hasn’t. Instead he’s not just searching the river bed, he’s acting like a private detective and being very critical of the police in the process.

autienotnaughty · 08/02/2023 06:22

It seems like it's one of the following;

She got into the water voluntarily
She was pushed in
She fell in
She left on foot voluntarily
She left on foot by force

I hope the police solve it quickly.

LostidentityM · 08/02/2023 06:38

I'd echo what others have said about the police not releasing all information to gain more evidence. Perhaps one of the witnesses is actually a suspect but they don't want to scare them/waiting for them to make a mistake. Or maybe there is info about her that they don't want made public, depression, affairs etc in case the public make their own judgement. I think the police know far more than they are letting on and just need proof.

Or, she never went in the water in the first place.

Very common for Accountacy/Company Secretarial type businesses to have shell companies available in case a client needs them quickly - much easier to have an off the shelf shell company ready than set it up from scratch. SO not necessarily suspicious.

off the shelf companies used to be common but less so now as can do online same day incorporations of a new company so the need is no longer there, it takes longer to change the details of an off the shelf company now than to just set up a new one

Mistressofnone · 08/02/2023 06:56

"Not sure
I never watched the conference live as I was on the school run"

@ofwarren so annoying it was scheduled during school pickup!

Morph22010 · 08/02/2023 06:57

find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11280462

this is the link to the companies house company that’s being struck off that people have implied means financial issues, personally I working in this field I don’t think it necessarily implies that at all

Scepticalwotsits · 08/02/2023 06:58

So much speculation and nonsense on here by people who think they are detectives.

speculation and wondering about stuff I get, but things like saying the police should have measured the water speed in MPH (flow rate is how you would measure water in cubic meters)

to talking about how if she was in the river her body wouldn’t be able to get over the weir. Or that she couldn’t have drowned and would have been caught by the weir. (Weirs are some of the most dangerous places in water with the backwash creating turbulent waters even on what’s looks like a serene waterway, this can trap and drown people very easily)

other saying the river looks slow. It could be but looking at the surface or a river doesn’t give a good indication of the flow rate under it and the power it has.

also those saying police should have launched a criminal investigation or the rules one out.

they haven’t ruled one out and for it to be more than a missing persons case there needs to be evidence pointing to something, if there isn’t they cannot launch a criminal investigation just because they feel like it.

also saying there is no evidence it was an accident isn’t evidence that there was foul play involved.

those also saying they didn’t do any forensics - from what I’ve read and seen they did at the beginning so once they have what they need there isn’t further reason to keep everything else in a sterile environment and have it cordoned off or keep retesting, this isn’t CSI

I get we all get invested in these things and we all have our thoughts and speculation and view on how the investigation is being carried out but some of the stuff on here is wildly fanciful being passed off as either fact or ‘I know better’

'Annoying'! It's not an episode of a tv drama. This is a real person with a real family. Shame on you.

Is the only CCTV of NB on the day that from her ring doorbell?

Was there any dash cam / CCTV of her walking to the riverside?

Feb grass cutting isn’t uncommon in large green spaces, used to a nature area near us that did it that time as well. It’s done to generally get the grass under control as they will leave it over spring summer because of ground nesting birds. Not the same as your local park

sazza76 · 07/02/2023 23:49

I wonder if its possible that someone on a bike/scooter came along the path and knocked her so she fell in (but didn’t stop). The dog might have even got in their way. If she hit her head or something she may not have been able to swim.
I just hope that they find her wherever she is, her family and friends must be going through hell.

There would be no reason for a bike or scooter to be in that top field. The field is just that, a field with grass and no proper path.

@Renoir56 I am following the case closely as I care about what happens to this lady. Just speaking in solidarity that I was also on the school run and wish I could have been able to watch the whole thing that's all.

Gosh, why has no-one considered any of this before? The number of posters who will just write ... anything ...

Do people even think how gratuitously insensitive sentences like this sound? It's not a drama for your entertainment.

crocusfocus · 08/02/2023 07:19

Her poor children. I cannot begin to wonder what turmoil and confusion they must be experiencing. It must be agonising for them , and all those that are caring for them
