I couldn't see another post so thought I'd create one.

There is a police press conference this afternoon. I can't see a time for this but it's sounding like a routine one.

I've been following this case closely, more recently, and something just feels weird about it. Nothing seems to add up or make any sort of sense. I feel as though the police wasted a lot of valuable time and now, potential and vital information may have gone amiss. I've been reading threads on Twitter and whilst I think some people watch too much Netflix (hah), some theories when adding up all we know so far, don't seem too hard to believe. Just can't stop thinking of her children who must be absolutely besides themselves Sad

dawngreen · 07/02/2023 20:54

If she fell in the cold water it would be a shock, and it would slow her reactions. I don't see her swimming any where wearing that gear. And the police had already walked round the whole area. They don't have to tell the public every thing they do. I don't think she would desert her family, and leave her dog alone on the path. I don't see how she could be abducted in that time frame without been seen or heard struggling with her dog barking. And I think it was just a lack of communication between who ever started the go fund me page, nothing bad. The only err moment for me was the number of failed businesses it said they had started. But my thoughts are to just watch what conclusion the police arrive at in the end.

On city streets where he had a car. This is in a field at the edge of a small village where any vehicle would be a distance away. I can't see how he could get her to a car without being seen and without the dog following. She could have used the emergency screen on her phone or turned the meeting onto camera and unmute to get help before he left it as a decoy.

Anyone abducting a woman there who had a dog would have to somehow get her to a car, leave her in the car (presumably in a boot) hoping she'd make no noise, stop the dog following and barking/attacking him, return to the dog and get it, the lead, phone and harness to the seat and make the dog stay there, then return to the car, leaving no fingerprints , footprints or evidence of a scuffle, avoiding all CCTV cameras and without being seen by anyone and all within 10 minutes. It is 99.9% impossible.

Re: the dog, or all they had to do was close the gate so the dog couldn’t come through, or grab the dog and throw it back through.

I’ve got spaniels. They are the best dogs ever but I wouldn’t fancy my chances of being protected by them if I was attacked - one of them would probably hide!

I don't think it was suicide. She had just text a friend about a playdate for her girls hadn't she?

I can't see someone who is imminently suicidal doing that.

I know someone who made plans for the near future than hanged themself. It can happen, not that I’m saying Nicola has harmed herself.

Re failed businesses, in certain trades like heating engineering and loft conversions , they commonly wind down their business every year and start anew to avoid claims by past clients. It isn't great to do it but common and it does not mean there are financial difficulties.

Wetblanket78 · 07/02/2023 20:59

Sarah Everard was at night and over lockdown with nowhere near as many people about.

One of the issues with body language is it's very subjective, rather than concrete analysis, admittedly it's only one aspect

To the op who said she didn’t have financial worries, her partner certainly does which would have affect them as a family.

And how do you okow this ?

OnSecondThoughts · 07/02/2023 21:03

When those CCTV (or ring doorbell) photos came out the other day (of NB near her car) and people were saying her clothes didn't quite match earlier descriptions - well I haven't yet seen anyone compare those photos with any other CCTV footage of her from a bit later. So (am I getting this right): there is no actual CCTV footage of her walking alongside or near the riverbank that day? Or from the school run? The photos with the car are all they have (or at least all that they have made public) from that morning?

I think it's the context too - morning dog walk, on a teams meeting etc.

I know what you're saying though, it's not beyond possibility. It's just leading me more towards awful freak accident leading to drowning.

I know reports say she's a strong swimmer but there's a huge difference between being in a costume in the calm sea or warm swimming pool, and being heavily clothed in a freezing river totally unexpectedly.

queenofarles · 07/02/2023 20:29

It could be that she really is not in the river !

No way.

Yeah, I haven't seen any other cctv

Absolutely, I agree with you.

Owlyhedgehog · 07/02/2023 21:05

I wanted to watch the Libby documentary but cant find it?

ShellsPebbles · 07/02/2023 21:08

Another thing I wonder about this case is how do they know what times she was seen in both fields. If I saw somebody my first thought isn’t to check the time incase they vanish. So the window of time she vanished in could actually be longer or shorter than they think.

ofwarren · 07/02/2023 21:10

The Daily Mail map still shows that the cctv is off at Rowanwater.
There is a gate at the top field that residents can open. There is a lake/pond there that hasn't been searched.
Have the police said they now have cctv to this caravan park?

I am sure they have explored all possible scenarios. There was an 11 year old missing overnight from the Scottish borders. Rivers were searched. She was eventually found last night in a man's house. That man's house was searced by police at the last update. So I'm sure if they were positive she was dead they wouldn't be looking at other avenues.

I can. When you’re suicidal you want the pain to finish now. I guess you can kind of make plans for the future but when your mind decides everything should finish now … then you don’t care about the future

OnSecondThoughts · 07/02/2023 21:13

So she drops her kids at the school, "leaves her car there" (where exactly? The school car park?) and goes for this walk. A few witnesses saw her - did they know her? "Yes it was definitely Nicola, she said hello" is a bit different to "Did you see a woman in her 40s in a long coat with a brown dog?" -"Err, yes, I think". Theres no CCTV footage. Can we really be sure she was there?

LoveMAFS · 07/02/2023 21:14

I don't think she went near that bench. I think it's a red herring.
