Got my flameproof suit on but I just think in terms of information (especially as some Mumsnetters are probably using this forum as a primary source of information) it's useful to try to have a complete picture if you're thinking about how to engage with a situation that you're learning about.

Everyone comes into a situation from a different angle - I'm personally fairly uneasy with backing policies that put myself and people on the breadline at risk, by a multi-millionaire with substantial assets abroad with links to a billionaire who is already sanctioned by the EU and the US (awaits flaming).

I'm sure the regular media is aware of this and when it suits the narrative/story arc they'll bring it up again.

What relevance does this have to Ukraine’s current situation?

He's currently the underdog in an incredibly unfair war. He's leading his people and inspiring them to I hold back the invading Russian army.

I think, for the moment, I'll just assume that no politicians are truly wholesome and Zelensky is no different. That doesn't mean I don't fully back his current situation and his attempts to protect the country and its people.

I'll take him over Vladimir Putin any day.

Does it really matter in the here and now? When millions of people are being murdered does anyone really give a shit if the president isn't squeaky clean? If you're looking for twattish politicians with dodgy backgrounds you could just look a bit closer to home, our current pm perhaps.

Nothing in that article seems terribly scandalous. He has made some money as a television producer. He has moved some of it offshore. A bit hypocritical maybe? But the article does not indicate any corruption and most strikingly does not suggest he has plundered Ukraine's wealth.

What speaks more strongly to Zelensky's character is that he is standing up to Putin and remaining in Kyiv at great risk to his own life.

Why would a Russian bot care about a website dedicated to random chat about parking places and debates about school places?

It just annoys me the same way that it annoys me when rich Tory PM's suggest we show solidarity and make sacrifices?

I've noticed public discourse easily becomes an echo chamber and it seems a bit like anyone who doesn't subscribe to dominant narratives (eg anyone mentioning racism at the Ukraine border) is shouted down .

But I know people do read these forums more than post so I was just putting up some links so people can read the info, as I haven't seen it anywhere else.

What has that got to do with Putin invading Ukraine?

I know that Zelensky's popularity rating wasn't great before the invasion but he appears to have been doing an excellent job since then in rallying his countrymen to fight, and in getting a lot of military allies and support from global companies.

Do you want him deposed and replaced with someone with fewer offshore assets mid-war?

Reframing assets so that you reduce your tax burden is not as bad as what Putin has done and is doing right now.

I suspect at this moment in time Zelensky doesn’t give a fig about his money.

You are not talking billions and heaps of celebrities and businessmen in the U.K. have also done similar.

Who on earth has suggested that it is? Watch some of Putin's speeches and read what he's been up to the past decade if you're not sure why he invaded.
