I'm not a bot.

Was just trying to find out a bit more about the situation, build-up of current events beyond the surface information.

Found a lot of information from late last year (leaked Pandora Papers) - of course like all news it's Hmm

but he isn't some naïve young actor with a cute architect wife who accidentally fell into politics whilst playing Paddington?

Got my flameproof suit on but I just think in terms of information (especially as some Mumsnetters are probably using this forum as a primary source of information) it's useful to try to have a complete picture if you're thinking about how to engage with a situation that you're learning about.

Everyone comes into a situation from a different angle - I'm personally fairly uneasy with backing policies that put myself and people on the breadline at risk, by a multi-millionaire with substantial assets abroad with links to a billionaire who is already sanctioned by the EU and the US (awaits flaming).

(am I the only one who is hunting down a source of "unbiased news" regularly?)

I'm sure the regular media is aware of this and when it suits the narrative/story arc they'll bring it up again.

@Neolara

This is the second pre-Russian thread I've read today where I've done a search of the OPs name and found no other posts. Genuinely, I think Russian bots are trying to win us over.
Nah - its not Russian bots, just standard trolling.

Though I don't doubt the OP does believe their own nonsense. They are just looking for the froth.

Ncwinc · 08/03/2022 22:15

Apparently the bots are so busy defending Putin there’s a marked drop in anti vaxx propaganda online.

LondonQueen · 08/03/2022 22:15

This isn't about Zelensky this is about the poor citizens of Ukraine who are being bombed and forced out of their own homes and countries, often leaving family members behind. Absolutely devastating.

IamSamantha · 08/03/2022 22:16

Oh well the, Putin is clearly justified and rational......

Do one!

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 08/03/2022 22:16

I wonder how much bots get paid 🤔

EmmaH2022 · 08/03/2022 22:17

@triggery

I've been thinking similar today OP. Maybe I'm just cynical (as I'm sure loads of people are after two years of covid media) but after spending the day reading up on more balanced / nuanced arguments I'm pretty sure there is a lot more to this than we are being told and it's not half as black and white as the propaganda machines on either side are making it out to be.
Yes I can't see why so much emotive propaganda is needed, when there's literally a humanitarian crisis of a huge scale going on.

I didn't think WW3 was coming but after today's broadcast in the Commons, I think maybe it is.

PonyPatter44 · 08/03/2022 22:17

Boring bot or boring edge lord... either way you might as well jack it in.

Also very offensive to suggest that Ukrainian civilians are not being killed.

ancientgran · 08/03/2022 22:17

@SandyStrawToad

Not sure of the relevance of the random "what about the tories" posts? I'm not Priti Patel.

As far as I'm aware the Tories have led a standing ovation for receiving Zelensky's speech in the House of Commons.

There's a lot of "not very clever" insults so thanks, I've been on Mumsnet long enough to know the score.

Well have a look at some of the dodgy deals of our PM and his cronies. Does that mean it is OK for someone to come and invade the UK and start bombing innocent civilians?
knittingaddict · 08/03/2022 22:17

I had it. I'm going to report the op and have done with it. Angry

JeepSleeHack · 08/03/2022 22:18

@CristinaYangismySpiritAnimal

But her emails!
Grin

Seriously though, we've already had one poster bring up Biden/Ukraine.

Smokeahontas · 08/03/2022 22:18

Oh well, now all that’s come to light - revoke all the sanctions, open Zara & McDonalds, let them buy BMW’s, I’ll take a full cargo ship of oil - anyone want to go halfsies? Let Putin bomb the fuck clean out of Ukraine.

Piss away off into the night, OP.

triggery · 08/03/2022 22:18

@noblegiraffe Haha! No, literally just trying to get a wide range of views as well as learn more about what happened in the lead up to this. I knew roughly about Crimea but was embarrassingly uniformed about Donbass.

I'm not pro-Putin or anything ridiculous like that. Nor am I pro-war. Nor do I think there is any excuse for his actions.

I am however starting to think this could have been avoided... and that the west is maybe hypocritical... but I'm not an expert and merely trying to listen to those who are.

SandyStrawToad · 08/03/2022 22:18

Policies are being suggested (eg the insistence on a no-fly zone) which may provoke major conflicts and significantly affect the lives of many people negatively.

It does make a difference if the person emotively asking for these sacrifices to be made is a multi-millionaire with the backing of a billionaire who can move to his villa in Italy.

Or someone who is on whatever an MP's salary is?

Ponchek · 08/03/2022 22:18

Your 4-year-old is at nursery. The place gets bombed. Your kid dies an agonising, terrified, pathetic death. But ... that doesn't matter. Boris made a packet out of Brexit,
so his people don't matter.

?

Zelensky is way cleaner than most politicians, anyhow. He's in a jungle. He's using everything he has, and even finding more.

Nobody thought he was naive and married to a fluffy architect. Give us all more credit 🤦‍♀️

The guy has stepped up. BIG TIME.

JohnStonesMissus · 08/03/2022 22:18

Surely you know by now that ANY politician isn't squeaky clean? You go and find a politician on any side who hasn't had his hands in the till so to speak then I'll eat my hat...I'm not sure why you think it's relevant to be honest, he's never claimed to be pure as driven snow, he's leading his country through an incredibly difficult time, his country is being invaded and people are being murdered, I think everyone has more important things on their mind at the moment.

Cherrysherbet · 08/03/2022 22:18

Fgs. Who cares????

Rysimo · 08/03/2022 22:19

Zelenskyy is handsome and brave. You are a CF to insinuate otherwise.....

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 08/03/2022 22:19

I voted YABU because right now that is just so unimportant.

It doesn't matter. People are dying, Putin is invading Ukraine and this man is trying to lead his country, he's staying to fight and I just don't think that matters at this very moment.

lookingforjobinspiration · 08/03/2022 22:20

YABU.

HTH

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoorNeil · 08/03/2022 22:20

Meh.

Im sure he has his fingers in many pies....... As do our lot. But unlike our shitshow of a government he hasn't run whilst his country burns down. I admire that

Divebar2021 · 08/03/2022 22:21

Oh this is the third thread I’ve read which is seemingly pro Russia. Personally I just need to see the photos of all those little kids asleep in what looks like a bunker to feel sick…. If you’d like to see them OP I’m happy to post them to focus the mind a little.

No it really really doesn't make any difference whatsoever.

And if ww3 kicks off I'm pretty sure his villa in Italy will be fucked too

Hawkins001 · 08/03/2022 22:22

@JuliaSways

I'm very cautious about new accounts coming here with evidence against Zelensky.

I mean Im sure you've been around for years and can quote "pom bears", "penis beaker" etc etc to prove your Mumsnettiness.

The evidence should stand on its own, how does it matter if it's a fresh account, the information is what the information is surly ?

Is that really all you've got?

Your feelings of superiority are much misplaced.

Have you tried playing Candy Crush? It really helps tackle boredom.
