Damage limitation written by the SS press office.

edam · 28/11/2007 10:46

I'm not surprised you are wound up. They are creating a misleading impression that you are still their 'client', despite having moved to Birmingham. And that your lawyer was at all meetings, which you say he wasn't.

If you do want to respond, you could instruct your solicitor to get them to issue a clarification - sent out another press release correcting inaccuracies in the first one. It's standard practice when you've released the wrong information.

bossybritches · 28/11/2007 10:55

Indeed Kathy I think Denise emphasised EVERY WEEK as well which I find scary-I know the woman is an agony aunt on the TV but she always seems to talk quite a lot of sense & doesn't get hysterical about things.

Has it been released to all the papers? I haven't seen any yet today?

Edam I agree a counter press release would shut them up -hopefully!

Fran amuse yourself by imagining the crisis meetings at Hexham SS -HQ as they do their damage limitation......

edam · 28/11/2007 11:05

I wasn't suggesting a counter-press release from Fran - although it's an idea she might be considering - but demanding a correction from Northumberland, sent to everyone who got the first one.

Have you seen this supportive comment from Marjorie Wallace, Chief Executive of SANE?

"Today Marjorie Wallace, chief executive of the mental health charity SANE, commented on the case of Fran Lyon, who has left the country to avoid social workers taking her baby when it is born:

?Whatever the particulars of this case we fear for the prospects of those people who have had a mental health diagnosis in their troubled youth. We are perplexed that without chance to prove her fitness Fran Lyon should be penalised on these grounds in advance of any evidence of her ability to relate to her baby.

?Munchausen?s by Proxy is at best a controversial diagnosis and at worse can do extraordinary damage as has been shown in previous cases.? "

makes the point again about the wider implications.

bossybritches · 28/11/2007 11:21

Aha I see Edam sorry misunderstood!

Yes I can see that would be more effective in terms of emphasising their lack of up to date info & downright lies.

ruty · 28/11/2007 11:25

very glad Marjorie Wallace has issued that statement.

edam · 28/11/2007 11:31

Good for Marjorie! Very sensible comment.

bossybritches · 28/11/2007 11:39

Excellent!

Now some other big guns are coming out in support of not only Fran but the wider issue as well, maybe more will follow.

Well done SANE & Marjorie.

bunny3 · 28/11/2007 23:05

Hi Fran, I have been following this but havent posted. I would have done just as you have. Lots of luck to you and Molly.

FranLyon · 28/11/2007 23:09

Thanks Bunny3. The relief I feel now is quite indescribable.

oldstraighttrack · 28/11/2007 23:19

Good to hear that Fran and Molly are doing well. and not put off by SS's press releases

Once the authorities in Fran's new residence have received the files from the SS and binned them, then her and her daughter will be truly free to enjoy their new future together

And godd luck to them both in that

ScoobyDoo · 28/11/2007 23:19

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 28/11/2007 23:21

Glad you've had a good day here's to many, many more of them!

bossybritches · 28/11/2007 23:23

Silence?? What's that then Scooby?

Oh yes, that's that pause when I ask....

" who used the last of the loo-roll & didn't change it????!!!"

Ah the joys of motherhood Fran, you have it all to come!!

FranLyon · 28/11/2007 23:33

Thank you OST

From the way it seems at the moment it would appear that the new authority have quite a sensible notion for families who could potentially struggle. A sort of mentor family are assigned as a source of support, advice etc. for as long as needs be. The idea yesterday with the midwife was that if Molly and I needed/wanted that then that would certainly be something they could do.
