Evan Davies is so lovely I want him for a novelty keyring. And he is going to become a presenter of the Today Programme

This is good news, surely, especially if it means the horrible egotist John Humphries is retiring.

Evan Davies is clever, enthusiastic, and really cute!

Sarah Kennedy. Blimey.

tissy · 27/11/2007 21:35

Sarah Kennedy

she witters before TW

policywonk · 27/11/2007 21:35

I DID NOT post that twice. This bloody computer has been victimising me ever since I complained about its loose connections.

ahundredtimes · 27/11/2007 21:37

That's her. My god it's an experience. Try it tomorrow morning, it's like being in her head or something.

Just do it. Once. Just for the experience. Gawn, you know you want to.

ahundredtimes · 27/11/2007 21:39

And there's this incredibly superior traffic lady who patronises Sarah, and you just know the traffic lady is waiting for TW to turn up.

The only bad thing about breastfeeding was finding yourself locked into an early-morning feed with Radio4 on, out of reach, when the "UK Theme" i.e. the hideous welding of naff Englishy folk ditties came on.

I can remember many a lurch to the off-button, baby clinging on to nipple by his teeth and swinging wildly.

Then, of course, Farming Today. Soul destroying.

Forgot: babies don't have teeth. My children are old. Gums, then.

Farming Today

Now I have post pg insomnia and get to listen to R5's Wake Up To Money at 5.30 every morning

ahundredtimes · 27/11/2007 21:43

Oh well then M&J fiddle with your frequency and enter the weird world of SK's head. You won't be able to stand it for long, but try it. Just the once.

I want you all to do it tomorrow morning.

margoandjerry · 27/11/2007 21:43

Actually the most boring thing I ever heard on radio was on You & Yours. I don't mean to bash that programme but they did a half hour special, literally, on whether there should be hoardings on motorways to tell you where the next services were and if there should be, should they say "Services - 2 miles" or should they specify whether the services included a Julie's Pantry or a Costa Coffee.

Honestly it was torture.

margoandjerry · 27/11/2007 21:45

I read about her in the Observer on Sunday 100x. I think it was in Miranda Sawyer's radio review (think) - she was commenting on SK telling jokes that are the equivalent of "oh how hilarious, a black man!"

ahundredtimes · 27/11/2007 23:10

OMG really? I am going to find it now . . .

flicky · 27/11/2007 23:18

I once read some scary stuff about him on Holy Moly or Pop Bitch or one of those sites...

I can't look at him on Dragon's Den now without having flashbacks

policywonk · 27/11/2007 23:20

There was a very funny radio review in the Guardian this week about Wogan's studio being out of action (apparently he said 'The rubber band has broken') and him having to use Sarah K's studio instead. Apparently he complained that her studio console was 'covered in mittens'.

God, I've been waiting for 90 minutes to post that.

Aitch · 27/11/2007 23:20

c'mon, people, why's Meanie Box not getting a mention here? hateful old bastards trying to keep their claws on their cash... broadcasting 10 out of every 12 hours on R4.

flicky · 27/11/2007 23:25

Sorry that was Mr Evan Wotsit I was talking about

Sarah Kennedy was the one who said that she knew why black people can run faster than white people. It's all down to the fact that they are used to running from Lions/Cheetahs and the like

Threadworm · 28/11/2007 05:50

Alan Johnson is also extremely lovely in an Evan Davies kind of a way. Clever and humane, and very sweet and elfin. (Not as elfin as Evan.)

(Will spare him the novelty keyring ordeal though as he has been through enough.)

Aitch, did you ever hear that 'On The Hour' sketch: 'Money Box Live... from Wembley Stadium!'

seeker · 28/11/2007 09:34

Scary stuff about Evan Davies? C'mon - dish!

ahundredtimes · 28/11/2007 09:49

I can't understand Mean Box. I try to, but they speak in these soothing voices and start talking about interest rates and inflation and my eyelids start to droop. I don't think I've ever got past the first ten minutes in years of trying.

margoandjerry · 28/11/2007 10:50

Love the concept of Moneybox Live from Wembley. I would actually quite enjoy that

CatIsSleepy · 28/11/2007 10:53

ooh I like money Box

You and Yours is dull dull dull

most annoying definitely The Moral Maze, esp when melanie philips is on
makes me want to throw the radio out the window

Threadworm · 28/11/2007 10:55

Oh, yes, The Moral Maze. I get froths of spit at the corner of my mouth if I accidentally hear any of that.

Did anyone hear Desmond Tutu on R4 last night? Very interesting interview with Michael Buerk. He said he wouldn't worship a god who hated homosexuality and thinks the church should stop being so obsessed with sexuality and think about the real sin of poverty instead. Forget being in love with Evan. I'm in love with an Archbishop

policywonk · 28/11/2007 11:35

Oh yes Tutu is amazing. Stuff Nelson Mandela, Desmond is the undisputed King of the Humans.
