Evan Davies is so lovely I want him for a novelty keyring. And he is going to become a presenter of the Today Programme

This is good news, surely, especially if it means the horrible egotist John Humphries is retiring.

Evan Davies is clever, enthusiastic, and really cute!

has nayone mentioned Davies's ears? Or are we politely drawing a veil over them

onebatmother · 29/11/2007 19:27

pointydog..
think that's the sound of fingers in ears lalala cant hear you lalala

Threadworm · 29/11/2007 22:09

What are your fav radio names?

Mine are:

Eloise Twisk (Today producer)
Jo King, who produces some of the comedies, so should be called 'Only JoKing'
Damian Grammaticus (sounds like the name of an exorcist)
Johnny Diamond

I always fantasised that Johnny Diamond was a bit of a rough diamond, till I saw him on the TV news.

It would have to be a pretty big veil!

finknottle · 30/11/2007 08:28

lapin - ooooh yes to the velvety voice of Neil Nune
First time I heard it was after a harrowing day & I came home & put on the radio and mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm. It was like coming home from the dentist battered by the harsh lighting and metallic scraping in your teeth and then being softly swathed in perfumed silk...

Evan Davis will hopefully kick out Sarah M. Why don't they just accept she is Just Bad?
Have an expat's fond tolerance of Humphreys.
Andrew Marr brightens my Monday mornings.
Ed Stourton melts my backbone.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I missed it at the time and was only alerted to it because it was quoted in Saturday's Guardian.

I am obsessed with Evan Davis! But I only want the keyring if it features a small button which when pressed triggers a sparkling of the eyes and a charming and brilliant analysis of the latest economic developments.

lol at your Paxo sugar interrogation post, policy

Threadworm · 24/03/2008 22:47

I think the editorial would have had more gravitas if they had added policywonk's "Now, Marr, him I quite fancy in a I-wouldn't-actually-do-him sort of way."

Cripes, this thread was a more-than-usually-comprehensive waste of time, wasn't it? No wonder I didn't get anything done in November.

Hey you two, I was out with OneBat yesterday and she suddenly announced that she thought we ought to drag you two into our drinking circle (I think I was boring her). I know that IB is pretty much available , but Thready I have the impression from somewhere that you are in the Frozen North?

IorekByrnison · 24/03/2008 23:23

Let's do it. I'll bring my collection of Evan Davis knitted dolls (with optional Prince Albert feature) if you like.

policywonk · 24/03/2008 23:32

No, darling. No

IorekByrnison · 24/03/2008 23:35

I could knock up an Andrew Marr one for you?

policywonk · 24/03/2008 23:39

Oh go on then.

I did laugh, on re-reading this, at seeker lusting after Bob Worcester.

Threadworm · 25/03/2008 05:42

It is a lovely thought (the bear/worm/bat/wonk drinking circle I mean, not the woollen sex toys).

But, yes, I am in the Tepid North.

BTW, glancing through Davies's CV I notice that he and DH were in the same institution over a three-year period and I may for all I know have unwittingly brushed elfin shoulders with him. How exciting.

IorekByrnison · 25/03/2008 08:05

They are not sex toys!

RosaIsRed · 25/03/2008 14:27

I have met him - I drunkenly picked a fight with him at a party many years ago. He was quite nice.

IorekByrnison · 25/03/2008 14:36

You picked a fight with him? Shame on you! What was it about? Did he take all the cheese footballs to demonstrate monetary policy?

RosaIsRed · 25/03/2008 14:40

I decided he was too right wing and I needed to convert him (politically speaking).

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/03/2008 14:44

I heard somewhere that he wears things like biker boots but you don't see them usually...always liked him..is he gay ? ( or did it say that further back on the thread)

IorekByrnison · 25/03/2008 14:51

Really? Is he quite right wing? I always imagined him looking into the economic mechanisms that drive the world with the impartial expertise of an horologist examining a swiss watch, and that he was somehow devoid of any political leanings. But clearly that is a little ridiculous. Did you persuade him?

MAS... is the Pope Catholic? Apparently he's very well known on the "scene" as they say...

margoandjerry · 25/03/2008 15:02

I think as with many economists, he bows to the power of the free market but isn't averse to a little tampering here and there (economically speaking).

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/03/2008 16:39

Evan Davies, John Barrowman... I'm becoming a fag hag...

minster · 25/03/2008 17:46

I once had an erotic dream about John Humphrys.

(I shall now slink away in shame.)

wheelsonthebus · 25/03/2008 17:52

ed stourton for me - lovely charm with a soft educated touch. i love his voice, and he is gentle but penetrative
