Large amount of Madeleine's hair 'found in boot of parents' hire car'

www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in...

I really can't believe this, but...

OP posts:
pooka · 11/09/2007 13:05

Better start a new thread for that then Missmarpleofgoogle.
Wouldn't want it getting "lost"

LostPuppy · 11/09/2007 13:07

Sources close to the investigators could quite easily mean a bloke who stood next to the investigator in a bar. But it does seem more and more likely that Madeleine is dead and that car was used to transport her dead body away. It could quite easily ahve not been the mccans, in fact it seems highly unlikely that it was them - how are they going to store a dead body with 1000s of the worlds media watching their every move?

Peachy · 11/09/2007 13:09

So.... these people are supposed to have murdered their daughter, hidden body locally but in a way no search could locate for 3 weeks, gone off to have a meal with friends without seemng perturbed, returned to call the police (well you wouldn't want to do that on an empty stomach), faked misery for 20-odd days, located the body in a new hire car, disposed of said body whilst being trailed by police and media, and through all that then forgot to check the boot for a 'load of hair' and a fingernail?

If it were a plot of a film it would be laughable

missmarpleofgoogle · 11/09/2007 13:10

they stored her in a suitcase according to one expert/mumsnetter

Peachy · 11/09/2007 13:11

Ah yes, because the police wouldn't think of that FFS.

MrsScavoEatsPizza · 11/09/2007 13:14

Does haychee sit around looking for this type of thread? WTF??

REGISTERING MY DISTATE

ladyhelen2 · 11/09/2007 13:15

This info re hair is on the Times web site too. Sorry no idea how to link. Just goes to show that all those people ready to condemn the McCanns because of the "blood" found in the car were perhaps a little hasty. Innocent till proven guilty. Innocent till proven guilty. Innocent till proven guilty.

LostPuppy · 11/09/2007 13:16

So either the hire car was used by the murderer(s) prior to the McCanns renting it, or the hair and fingernail, body fluid and DNA is all made up by the police.

OP posts:
Beetroot · 11/09/2007 13:16

There was no blood in the car

Hulababy · 11/09/2007 13:19

OK, The Times

"Portuguese police today denied a report that they had found a perfect DNA match for Madeleine McCann in a sample of body fluids taken from a car hired by her parents 25 days after her disappearance.

But a source close to the investigation told The Times that forensics experts had found a surprising amount of Madeleine's hair in the hired Renault Scenic, which detectives now suspect was used to transport her corpse. "

This tells you nothing new at all! The police deny any full DNA. A "source" says there was hair - this is not confirmed by the police.

missmarpleofgoogle · 11/09/2007 13:20

oh fgs, there was no fingernail, i made it up, chicken feed for info hungry gullible saddos!.

that is the issue many mnetters have with these threads, the inability of those who want to discuss this case to differentiate between so called fact and chinese whispers

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/09/2007 13:23

Are people not capable of looking at papers or listening to the news to get their Maddie fix, if that's what they want ? Why is every little development posted on mumsnet ?

ladyhelen2 · 11/09/2007 13:28

Hair not blood. Not a full DNA match. Exactly. Tells us nothing. Certainly does not tell us that this car was used to transport a corpse.
These are the first posts I have made on a MM thread and I have been shocked at people jumping on the "facts" supplied by Sky, the Daily mail etc.I hope these people never have to sit on a jury. When some evidence comes to light, perhaps then we'll know more but what has been reported on the BBC and in the TImes suggests that the portugese police have had to issue this information becuase of all this wild speculation over blood and 100%DNA matches.

maybe i will then

morningpaper · 11/09/2007 13:32

FFS! Anyone who has a toddler knows that they leave hair / blood / skin / dribble / vomit over every surface of the house and furniture - it would be amazing if there wasn't Madeleine's hair/dribble all over their stuff

You'd be expecting two inches of goo if a 5 week old corpse nicely baked in the Portugese heat had been tossed in the boot

Stop reading this crap!

LIZS · 11/09/2007 13:33

"reported as fact." So it is pure hearsay and just a different slant on old "news" to seem ahead of the others.

missmarpleofgoogle · 11/09/2007 13:35

and everything you read in the papers is always true of course

hippipotami · 11/09/2007 13:35

haychee

It is not genuine news we object to, it is the endless gory speculation.
There was no real division about this on MN until you (and they other salivating tragedy hunters) appeared.

MN is being misquoted in the press, and it - quite frankly - being made to look stupid. Why? Because the cr*p spouted here is taken as the majority view.

This is a parenting forum. Not a lets-endlessly-speculate-about-the-fate-of-a-little-girl-with-all-the-gory-details-forum.

And before you go shouting 'you signed and now you appear here, I am still trying to reason / explain my distaste, and am allowed to do that, just as you haychee are allowed to post anywhere else on MN.

Exactly MP. DD sheds hair constantly. Her hair brushes bobbles are covered in hair. We have ahir everywhere round here, little strands here and there.

ladyhelen2 · 11/09/2007 13:41
