MT, sorry, have just seen your call out and been to other thread. But probably not v. helpful. Sorry.

Monkeytrousers · 11/09/2007 22:24

"...I bet most people in the world would find the idea of any parent using money from a fund set up to help find their missing child to bankroll their own legal defence utterly reprehensible."

ONLY IF THEY WERE GUILTY!

Case closed on Bobbysmum's irrational bias?

Monkeytrousers · 11/09/2007 22:25

oh, hiya Edam. That's okay. I never reasised you were McEdam too BTW until a few days ago.

LittleBella · 11/09/2007 22:29

Oh but doncha know, they can't prove they're not, so we have to assume they are now.

That apparantly is the justice principle in Bobbiesmum's world.

Edam · 11/09/2007 22:38

Oh, it was just a reference to a thread that reminded me about that case where Macdonalds sued someone because they own the prefix 'Mac'. Pissed me off as I'm a Mac myself. And didn't get round to changing back.

mumbynature · 12/09/2007 23:35

Just to say in agreement - "innocent until proven gulity" which is paramount in any legal system - but with regard to fund monies, what if every penny is used and they are (god forbid!!) in fact found guilty?

Monkeytrousers · 13/09/2007 00:03

That is the price you pay for civilization. Cheap at any price..

Bessie123 · 13/09/2007 00:19

This thread is too long to read all of it, but if anyone is interested, there was a (very unprofessional) member of the McCanns' legal team sitting in my train carriage today discussing the case on his mobile. The 'evidence' in the boot of the car is a small clump of hairs with some type of body fluid, possibly blood but maybe not, in them.

That doesn't sound to me like conclusive evidence of anything. I'm sure there are loads of ways that could have got there - I think one poster suggested a hairbrush, for example.

MrsMarvel · 13/09/2007 00:33

I'm not sure I believe you... [hmmm]

NormaStanleyFletcher · 13/09/2007 00:41

Please could you take all discussion of this here

As requested by Justine of mumsnet on various threads

MrsMarvel · 13/09/2007 11:40

HorribleHorace · 13/09/2007 12:44
