Large amount of Madeleine's hair 'found in boot of parents' hire car'

www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in...

I really can't believe this, but...

OP posts:
binkleandflip · 11/09/2007 16:09

I do think it is getting gruesome on here.

Some people posting here obviously have an intense interest in forensic science and criminology and the like - there are courses at college available for this - day times and evening - which might interest you and you would be amongst other like minded individuals - I dont think this is the place to be discussing stuff like that in such graphic detail as it is upsetting.

I'm not registering distaste or anything like that as that's not my thing, I just think perhaps a little more tact and less of a gore-fest wouldnt go amiss.

haychee · 11/09/2007 16:10

I will of course check with you aitch before i consider what i put on MY profile page!

We all are parents we all have the same underlying interests, ie the welfare of the dc. Just because i feel want to discuss the mm case doesnt mean you have to pick apart my profile page.

A truce is what i was looking for a resolution to this childish bickering, but you cant even be adult enough to see the message, all you want is to pick me, my posts and my profile page apart and or anyone else that dares to be interested in the developments in the mm case.

Aitch · 11/09/2007 16:19

haychee that is untrue. seriously. you are behaving in an absolutely barking manner and relishing your self-designated 'most-hated' status while complaining all the while that no-one is accepting a truce that you haven't actually offered (nor are you in a position to do so, i might add). i think you're losing perspective on this, quite dramatically.
take a step back, please, close the computer and try to think about something else.

missmarpleofgoogle · 11/09/2007 16:20

pmsl that the nail thing has been quoted back twice on this thread

IT WAS MADE UP YOU LOONIES

toomuchtodo · 11/09/2007 16:21

there's a lot of posters here who would benefit from doing that Aitch

haychee · 11/09/2007 16:24

no is just me toomuchtodo, didnt you know?

Aitch · 11/09/2007 16:25

true, toomuch. haychee, give us peace, will you?

Greensleeves · 11/09/2007 16:26

That's just it though Thelittlesoldiersmummy - it isn't reality at all, it's fantasy. Sick, unhealthy fantasy which you should be ashamed of.

OneTrickMummy · 11/09/2007 16:27

LitleSoldiersmummy: "reality is these people are likely to get charged for there childs death."
No. If you read some posts on this and another thread (the DNA one), and read the BBC coverage, for instance, you will see that the McCanns are very unlikely to be charged, given the current situation. That the enquiries are pretty much routine, that the little girls DNA proves nothing as it would be very likely to have cme from the soft toy - or her parents clothing. That the portuguese police have published disclaimers about the importance or precision of the DNA findings.

But facts like that do not grab the headlines, or apparantly, people's imaginations as much as 'shock horror' 'developments.

haychee · 11/09/2007 16:28

To start a thread wherby signing up to it we all agree to our best to get along. Leave those alone who want to discuss X and i in turn leave those alone that want to discuss Y. Not to become involved in childish arguements. Not to attack anybody for spelling and or grammar. Not to pick apart every post, every word or their profile page. To listen and take in the message instead.
Its becomming just plain silly.

So tell me, why arent i "in a position to suggest a truce"???

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 11/09/2007 16:48

Greensleeves did you read the thread before deciding to start a personal attack?!? If you read it properly I had stated that the theories others had posted were unlikely because of certain points! I can assure you I do not fantasise about a little girls death or what could or couldn?t have happened to her! Again the only way you can express yourself is by insulting others, is that what you teach your children Picking up one line in a thread and then using it to throw insults at people is nasty and infact makes me feel quite sick! This is the first time i have posted on a Mm thread and to be honest the last as i dont need some uneducated arse insulting me for pointing out a fact not a nice fact but still a fact!

I dont think the Parents had anything to do with it and feel very sorry for the lost child

Greensleeves · 11/09/2007 17:06

I think you'll find you hurled the first personal insult TLSM, I didn't mention you by name at all in my initial objection. Sadly you're not the only poster to have referred to corpses rotting in the heat - I was referring to that, not to a particular poster.

LOL at "uneducated arse" though, very pithy.

ruty · 11/09/2007 17:18

you don't seem to understand Haychee. Many people have witheld from commenting on the MM threads for months now, disliking the frenzied speculation from the beginning [it used to be along the lines of 'oh that Robert Murat has done it I just know it] and now has changed tack. but since newspapers like the Guardian started quoting from MM threads, where all the posters had become the knitters at the guillotine, some of us are very unhappy at how Mumsnet is being represented. So now we want to readdress the balance. You couldn't stop yourself staying off the thread where posters were expressing their discomfort with recent threads. And yet you think you can dictate to others about where they should post. Hmmm.

Just because the Guardian quoted a few words from one poster on MN, doesn't mean we have to do a MN makeover and "redress the balance".

You guys have no right to tell people what they should discuss and how they should discuss it. If it offends the McCann family, then i'm sure they will be the first to let us know.

Now please try to live and let live.

And refrain from posting if you're not interested. What's wrong with trying to disseminate the many conflicting news stories we are being dripfed?

MrsMar · 11/09/2007 17:31

PMSL littlebella, I take it you don't like these threads!!! Or did I misread your post

totaleclipse · 11/09/2007 17:36

SKY NEWS UPDATE

A prosecutor in Portugal has decided there is enough evidence to charge the parents of Madeleine McCann with her death.

The McCanns: Enduring a tense waitHe has now passed on the details of the case to a judge who will decide whether to press charges against Kate and Gerry McCann

would the prosecutor announce this

totaleclipse · 11/09/2007 17:36

forgot the ?

MrsMarvel · 11/09/2007 17:37

Ruty "some of us are very unhappy at how Mumsnet is being represented".

So talk to mumsnet HQ! You do realise there's absolutely nothing you can do about this without their endorsement don't you?

Registering my distaste at censorship.

HorribleHorace · 11/09/2007 17:41

is that meant to stop people posting Humphrey?

Reallytired · 11/09/2007 17:41

It is a major development. Children do not normally have a significant amount of hair in the boot of a car.

I feel sorry for the McCann family. I am sure that they did not diliberately kill their daughter.

I think it is racist to suggest that foreign police are corrupt or imcompetant. Contrary to popular belief Portugal is a first world country and part of the EU.

CountessDracula · 11/09/2007 17:42

hang on

If you are pissed off at someone registering their distaste, surely showing it by registering yours is just plain silly

Registering my bewilderment

HorribleHorace · 11/09/2007 17:43

according to the Evening Standard, a 'mass' of hair was found in the compartment for the spare wheel
