In this case, if instead of

it said

then you might have an inkling that the "unnamed sources" were reliable.

Otherwise, hold fire.

LittleBella · 11/09/2007 22:50

But they weren't listening mr

They were ignoring any posts which pointed out that the source of the reports were not reliable

GessGalloway · 11/09/2007 22:50

I find being choosy about the source helps distinguish 'news' from 'vicious unecessary idle gossip'.

Or alternatively we could of course wait for things to move through the judicial system, if it ever does. If there's ever any reason for it to. Perhaps that would be more dignified for all concerned.

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 22:52

no-one learnt anything - I was making very similar points on threads 2/3 months ago. have made simialr comments repeatedly. No one is interested - the truth though no-one will quite come out an say it, is that people do want to gossip about this case.

Sadly many of us feel it is not an appropriate subject for public gossip bearing in mind a missing 4 yr old girl.

Let them gossip at home with their mates or on MSN.

I can just about bear to ignore threads which are honest about being speculation (though I personally find it ghoulish) I can;t stand people trying to pretend that its all factual when it isn't.

tori32 · 11/09/2007 22:56

Just because forensic evidence is found in a boot doesn't mean her body was ever in the boot. Lets be clear here. A hair from the apartment left before she disappeared could have been attached to a holdall put in the boot after she went missing. Yes, it is her hair strand in the boot, but she hasn't been near the boot.

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 22:56

Some (and their dad) didn't but if you had read all the posts mosts wereagreeing with you

I saw at least 2 say they hadn't realised that sky news wasn't verified

erm, don't understand that?

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 23:08

I rarely understand anythig that Cod says so don;t worry. I think there's some kind of descrambler you get after a number years of service. In the meantime, best to just smile vaguely in her direction when you are clueless.

forsale · 11/09/2007 23:17

this is possibly a silly question but in the absence of Madeleine how did they get her dna to start with and know it was definitely hers?

GessGalloway · 11/09/2007 23:18

She's calling you weirdos.

Will translate:

stop it you weirdos
do you get off on this.

There, simple.

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 23:20

there's dna everywhere - we all shed it with gay abandon. Hair on brush/comb/clothes for example.

The match thing is a good point and we don;t know they have macthed it to her. for example I understand that siblings can share up to 15 markers of 20 so a 75% match could be a sibling (over simplified I think)

Blandmum · 11/09/2007 23:20

and guess what, gess and Tamum and I could actually explain all about DNA profiling, because we understand it.

But we are not going to.

Because it will only encouage you.

So there!

Blandmum · 11/09/2007 23:21

that was to you Kew, that was to them

Blandmum · 11/09/2007 23:22

wasn't to you! Shessh my typing!

forsale · 11/09/2007 23:22

mb - im simply asking a valid question and it makes perfect sense to ask on this thread.

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 23:23

to be fair Gess (and Cod if thats what you meant) - a discussion (which we were having) about why it isn't reasonable to rely on SkyNews as being factual 100% of the time seems to me to be perfectly reasonable one.

Presumably complete censorship of any discussion isn't the order of the day is it? If it is then yes - I'm happy for you to call me a wierdo.

totaleclipse · 11/09/2007 23:25

forsale

very easily

toothbrush
bed sheets
her laundry

GessGalloway · 11/09/2007 23:25

I suspect it was related to the endless speculation about whether she was/wasn't. Actulally no I'm not going to go there, but I see plenty a few posts before cods to share her sentiments.

It was definitely weirdos. Weirdos is Word Of The Day.

forsale · 11/09/2007 23:28

thank you totaleclipse

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:29

That's what they want though

They want ALL discussion gone

Look how this thread started (scroll down) What was wrong with how it started? Where was the ghoulish speculation?

The first few posters were showing disbelief in the 'news'

It was only one poster (and her dad) that was being distastful

AnnieBesant · 11/09/2007 23:33

But what is there to say though Minorityrules?

Most of the stuff that comes out in the news is contradicted later in the day.

And to endlessly jump backwards and forwards as information and misinformation appears is upsetting some people and annoying many more. Can you not see it is time to give it a rest? Or take the discussion elsewhere. Not because you have to - but because it is the polite thing to do.

And why not just wait until the portuguese police actually make public what they know?

Lil · 11/09/2007 23:34

Hey well done

them do seem to have slunk off into their holes. See an onslaught of critical thinking and common sense can win the day

Lil · 11/09/2007 23:35

oh annie you're still complaining..damn can't type fast enough.

minorityrules · 11/09/2007 23:37

Or maybe they had no more to discuss and the conversation died a natural death and all the last 2 days has done has kept it to the forefront and made people want to state their right to discuss something

If left alone, it would have just been3 or 4 threads, with a few people on them out of thousands of posts....a tiny minority
