paedophile rings can include paedos from anywhere, tho can't they? i have a horrible feeling about this. i don't think it's a pschyic for some reason

belgo · 13/06/2007 12:47

Europe is becoming a far smaller place what with ease of travel and of course the internet. Which is why the McCanns have been travelling through Europe.

wannaBe · 13/06/2007 13:25

according to

this
interpol receive up to 15 calls a day with tip-offs about Madeleine's whereabouts.

NKF · 13/06/2007 13:27

Are you lot actually discussing something that may have come from a psychic? Care to read my tea leaves?

ELF1981 · 13/06/2007 15:23

only just seen this - how do they know it is from the same person as the other two girls?

auntyspan · 13/06/2007 15:23

Sky have picked this up - the area is being searched.

Look at this page

wannaBe · 13/06/2007 15:31

On the one hand I think that if this proves to be something it's a good thing as it will at least give the family closure. I sincerely doubt that Madeleine is still alive, but if it were my child I would rather know than be left to imagine the alternatives.

Budababe · 13/06/2007 15:33

God love them - they must be on tenterhooks.

auntyspan · 13/06/2007 15:36

Agreed Wannabe....

wannaBe · 13/06/2007 15:41

I wonder though how many of these searches have been carried out on tip-offs that the parents have been told about but the media haven't? So we maybe think that this search will turn something up as this is the only one we've been told about, but if there have been many more, to the parents this may just seem like "yet another search". iyswim?

24.com
have this to say. I do wonder what makes police investigate one claim over another. I personally have no belief in psychics what so ever and would be more inclined to believe a letter like that had been written by a perpitrator of a crime rather than a genuine psychic.

imaginaryfriend · 13/06/2007 15:47

What a nightmare for them. They've fought so hard to find her and now someone tells them she's been so close all this time. This would be dreadful if it were a hoax although it may still turn out to be.

angeltoangel · 13/06/2007 15:54

if it doesn't lead to Madeleine it doesn't mean it's a hoax though, it could simply be a false lead.

Interestingly a psychic called Psychic Sarah on this site said on 7th June that she believed Madeleine was buried on rough ground near where she disappeared...

"In this case re Maddy; I am really not convinced she is still alive. I have a feeling she is buried in rough/dry/sandy sparsely wooded ground between 2 and 4 miles north/ north east from where she was taken?(I have sinced checked the maps and this road and route leads north to the forested mountain region) "

TheDaVinciCod · 13/06/2007 15:57

what a pile of shit
its a pretty safe guess hesint bureidn in a local park isnt it

wannaBe · 13/06/2007 16:10

"In this case re Maddy; I am really not convinced she is still alive." tbh I don't think it takes a psychic to think that. Unfortunately, history of these types of abductions has shown us that there is rarely a positive outcome. also re being buried in rough ground is a common thing - rough ground is usually off the beaten track as it were, so far easier to conceal a body there. again, bodies of missing people usually found in more deserted areas.

wannaBe · 13/06/2007 16:14

although one thing that makes this slightly more credible is that it's being reported on

tthe bbc

last week when the "credible" phone call was being reported the bbc didn't cover it at all. And they're usually the last to report anything because they're to maticulous in checking out information etc.

imaginaryfriend · 13/06/2007 16:20

Has it ever been confirmed one way or another whether she was abducted from the room or wandered out by herself? That would alter the nature of the investigation wouldn't it?

zephyrcat · 13/06/2007 16:28

The headline on BT internet is now saying 'Police probe Madeline 'dead' claim'.

Maybe it's just me being over-sensitive but I really wish they wouldn't put that type of headline in speculation of what may be.... Yes of course it's becoming more than likely but I wish they'd hold it back until they actually know

I thought they'd thought it came from the same person who wrote the anonymous letter about the Belgian girls?

RubberDuck · 13/06/2007 16:41

None of the news reports have mentioned a psychic.

TBH it's very unlikely to be a psychic, it's not their modus operandi to include maps with very specific locations. Far more likely to be a vague "buried in the wasteland" and a "I feel a connection with the number 7 in this case" which can pretty much fit any circumstance.

imaginaryfriend · 13/06/2007 16:45

And surely at this stage nobody would seriously investigate the words of a psychic?! Especially one who just wrote a letter, I mean, a decent one would at least make his fabulous mystic predictions in person?

mmj, I did, I got the black and white spotty one from Debenhams. (feel a bit odd mentioning it on here though!)
