Loobyloo22 I cant open the link you gave, any ideas - what Im doing wrong that is. x

HuwEdwards · 13/06/2007 22:54

I think what Twig is trying to say (and Twig, pls correct me if I'm wrong) is
'Let the investigation conclude before assessing/forecasting/imagining the outcome

mumemma · 13/06/2007 23:03

The latest development has just been on ITV News (admittedly almost as sensationalist as Sky) and showed the area that was pinpointed - it is a huge area of scrubland and rocks. It really does look impossible to know where to start.

I find it very odd that there is a journalist in Spain who says he 'knows' who has done it and won't reveal the name:

www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23400455-details/ Police+probe+%27Madeleine+buried+under+rocks%27+claim/articl e.do

(Take large pinch of salt before reading, this is a sister paper to the Daily Mail but it has been reported elsewhere although anorak.co.uk discredits him as a hoaxer - not sure what to believe at this point.)

mumof2monsters · 13/06/2007 23:51

Pray this is a hoax. Feel sick

Loobyloo22 · 14/06/2007 00:07

Isnt it beneficial to us all when people are so inclined to write comments like ... 'here we go'...mmmmnnnn genius, yet they still read the posts.

Here we go what?????? The police in this case have been about as sharp as a marshmallow so what are we to take from your comments? What harm are we doing expressing our findings on this website? Please tell because as a mother myself I can't help feel tha t some action is better then inaction... Please enlighten us...

Loobyloo22 · 14/06/2007 00:09

wolfgirl, sorry I don't know. The website is definitely still there.. www.anunciosgratis.pt/ads/200/posts/1_VE_CULOS/1_Auto mveis/11699AudiA418125PSAC146_000KM.html

jenk1 · 14/06/2007 06:34

on bbc website now
here

Sky has it as its top story and says the police are searching the area now with sniffer dogsnews.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91210-1270454,00.html

RubberDuck · 14/06/2007 08:01

The harm in sending this stuff to the police is that they waste man hours sifting through all this crap that they've probably already checked (after all, they have google too) instead of actually following genuine leads.

Sending irrelevant information actually hampers the investigation.

TaylorsMummy · 14/06/2007 08:21

i wouldn't call it irrelavant.i think it's very relavant.if they've checked it, they've checked it, how long will it take them to realise that, a couple of minutes? the investigation hardly seems fast moving.they don't seem to be doing an alwful lot the other 23 hours and 58 minutes of the day.

RubberDuck · 14/06/2007 08:23

You have no idea what they're doing all day. They don't get one email for a couple of minutes, they get THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS all from well meaning people who are not adding at all to the investigation. That's not 2 minutes, that's a couple of full time jobs wasted sifting through all the email crap.

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 08:23

i think they had this info a couple of weeks ago and have been looking into it for a while, it wouldnt do them any good to leak info out as it happens then the people concerned would go underground, or rather i hope that is what theyre doing after reading another article about someone paying £200'00 for her abduction..a known peadophile

ELF1981 · 14/06/2007 08:44

PinkChick - was that the bit about "The Frenchman"?
Chilling. But I cant believe the reporter refused to name him to the police or McCann family

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 09:25

yesit was, very scary

kittylette · 14/06/2007 09:51

what frenchman?

they think somebody paid to have her abducted?

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 09:58

I think it read an undercover investigator befriended this 'frenchman' who offered terrible services(dont want to go into them) for certain amounts of money and its said some would pay up to 200k for a child

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 09:59

it also said he thinks she will still be clsoe as thats how he works, lay low for while then take child to them..so if this is common knowledge, which other children has he taken???

kittylette · 14/06/2007 10:10

Thats sickening

kittylette · 14/06/2007 10:49

Its just said on the news that portugese police are officially going to search the site.

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 10:52

which site?the one that the guy sent map on?

kittylette · 14/06/2007 10:54

No sky24

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 10:55

? sorry im thick, they are going to search an area for a body or search a website

kittylette · 14/06/2007 10:56

search the area of land

PinkChick · 14/06/2007 11:02

thats what i thought sorry for being dense, youd have thought it would have already been searched tho wouldnt you??

kittylette · 14/06/2007 11:07

Not really, its a huge area, and even if it had been skimmed over it would be very easy to miss upturned earth,

they can hardly dig up all ground everywhere in portugal can they?

Now they have an idea of where she may be they can do a more detailed search of that area.

I just hope she is found soon, in what ever circumstances , happy or not so her parents have can have peace or at least begin to try to.

wannaBe · 14/06/2007 11:36

Dear God, I can?t believe that we?re back to googling and sending emails to the police. Do you not think that the police have better things to do than to open spam from wannabe internet detectives? Seriously. And those that say the police aren?t doing anything, exactly how do you know that? Did it say so in the sun? must be true then ey? Now when the police say ?if you have any information, how ever irrelevant you may think? what they mean is, ?if you know anything, if you were there and saw anything, if someone you know has been acting suspiciously, then let the police know?, not ?we would like everyone to log on to the internet and to google and see what they can find out and then email us with their findings?.

Just because Madeleine hasn?t been found, doesn?t mean the police aren?t doing anything.
