but the papers said it was the same person. could that therefore imply that the person who killed those two girls also killed Madeleine? and that he has now alerted the paper of her whereabouts?

ie that it's not a psychic but the perpitrator of the crime.

well you could be in the know somehow or other and claim that you are a psychic (that was one angle the Portugese police were said to have been following up earlier) - this letter to the Dutch paper was anonymous according to that article so really we just don't know. The letter must bear some marked resemblance to the letter in the previous case though

Someone was arrested for the murder but I can't find any recent coverage or anything about a trial.

When the first letter first arrived the paper assumed it was someone close to the killer; from the way they have reacted to this letter it seems as if they no longer think that and are taking this one very seriously.

I wish she could be found alive and well; but if not, I just wish she will be found soon.

I hope this isn't true, but I also hope it is, so the McCanns have some closure and know where she is.

iirc, there was a known paedophile in the same cafe when Nathalie and Stacey went missing (at 3 o'clock in the morning or some time ridiculous). He's been charged with murder, but the evidence is mainly circumstancial. I don't remember anything about a letter with the whereabouts of the girls, and I followed the case fairly closely, along with the rest of Belgium. But that may just be my memory.
