For those of you who are interested - and don't want any arguing - the news update according to Sky

  • police are now looking for a man seen in a white van
  • they have an e-fit of him
  • also want to interview an american who lives locally who owns a white van and hasn't been seen for the last few days
  • reward of £1.5M has been offered by the News of the World
OP posts:

If Madeline has been found in the villa why hasn't Murat been arrested?

kid · 14/05/2007 21:41

She can't be there though, if she was they would have found her.

noddyholder · 14/05/2007 21:41

I doubt he would have taken her there when his mother is there He did drive a van though and disappeared for several days as he thought he was in teh way.

LilyLoo · 14/05/2007 21:42

It seems he has been arrested on others becoming suspicious of the extent of his involvement. This doesn't make him a kidnapper. If he turns out to be innocent to start presuming he guilty isn't very fair. We should wait for more info before becoming judge and jurey on him.

Wolfgirl · 14/05/2007 21:42

I doubt she is there either; but if she WAS there, then the forensics will pick up DNA, and that will take time. have the police dogs been in there, do we know?

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 21:43

3 people have given witness statements in front of a judge, not connected to robert murat.

police have left the villa now.

auntyspan · 14/05/2007 21:47

i don't think they've found her. Everyone's leaving - they were probably just being very thorough.

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 21:48

if robert murat is innocent then i wonder how it will affect the sunday mirror journalist who reported him to the police and who has gone on camera to say that she did?

reece · 14/05/2007 21:48

I was wondering about that to jenk1.

kid · 14/05/2007 21:49

I don't think it will look bad for her, she had a suspicion and reported it to the police.

ScoobyDooooo · 14/05/2007 21:49

I agree with you kid.

Nikki76 · 14/05/2007 21:50

I think its better to report something and have it come to nothing than not report it at all...

My heart was in my mouth when the news came on....gutted they didn't say oh we have found her

Wolfgirl · 14/05/2007 21:50

damn! where is the poor lamb! bugger it! I want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

quietmouse · 14/05/2007 21:50

they have been there since 7am - and still haven't arrested him??

dinny · 14/05/2007 21:51

too depressingly apparent what has happened - that former Scotland Yard head seems to have been proven right

LilyLoo · 14/05/2007 21:51

Giod it must be terrible for her parents. They want to know she is ok and then this. If he is innocent they will have had their hopes raised that she was going to be found whilst also dreading what it could turn out to be. Now it may all be a dead end and they back to square one. How are they coping ?

ToughDaddy · 14/05/2007 21:52

remember tve attention seeker in the Ipswich case at Christmas who turned out to be innocent so let's see.

reece · 14/05/2007 21:52

Did anyone notice how S news are now stating that Robert Murat has been taken to the "MAIN" police station in Portimao whereas they previously stated "a" police station.
It's like they are leading viewers to believe he is guilty.

dinny · 14/05/2007 21:52

just heard that interview with Scotland Yard bloke again and he said "it is local and it is opportunist"

Nikki76 · 14/05/2007 21:53

What really annoys me is that this villa should have been searched as a matter of course last week! Bugger the protocol - we are talking about a child here, not a heist or something! This pussyfooting around of suspected people is getting beyond a joke!!!

dinny · 14/05/2007 21:53

please watch BBC, Sky is so sensationalist

ShinyHappyBubblyWubblyBoohoooo · 14/05/2007 21:53

Yes, I kept thinking "attention seeker" and one of those who like to hang around crimes scenes for no good reason other than that it makes him feel important... But... why all the frenetic activity at his villa?

LilyLoo · 14/05/2007 21:54

Agree that anyone with any info should report it regardless of whether it comes to anything or not.
