For those of you who are interested - and don't want any arguing - the news update according to Sky

  • police are now looking for a man seen in a white van
  • they have an e-fit of him
  • also want to interview an american who lives locally who owns a white van and hasn't been seen for the last few days
  • reward of £1.5M has been offered by the News of the World

NuttyMuffins · 14/05/2007 20:20

Did bbc news just say that the aprtment they are searching is another MW apartment in the same complex ??

Tamum · 14/05/2007 20:21

I don't like the sound of this.

Pixiefish · 14/05/2007 20:22

Sky video here

NuttyMuffins · 14/05/2007 20:22

omg it is only 150 yards away from where she was taken, why has it taken them so long to search that area fgs.

fifisworld · 14/05/2007 20:23

Its a villa 150 yards from the apartment block.
Please, please let her be found safe and well

Pixiefish · 14/05/2007 20:23

This 'bob' has been acting as agobetween with the local police and the british media- doing lots of translation.

popsycal · 14/05/2007 20:23

bbc news - no arrests at searched villa

ChocolateFace · 14/05/2007 20:25

Surely this should all have happened days ago!

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 20:26

martin brunt has just said that the police gave an interview yesterday to the times saying that they had no new leads and the investigation was winding down.
he said that there was bits filtering through to those in the know that today was D day and to wish them luck.
so if this bob was right in the middle of the investigation they wouldnt be giving out vital info, that john detective guy who has been helping them out told the police that he was "very concerned" about this bob guy.

popsycal · 14/05/2007 20:27

oh god this is awful

Tamum · 14/05/2007 20:27

It's possible that the British police have been misled because of the similarities to Ian Huntley's behaviour, I guess?

PinkChick · 14/05/2007 20:28

please god let her be found safe and unharmed. only an hour ago i heard thy had no leads and it was desolate, now this?????and he's been saying that he has a daughter who'looks just like Madeleine back home in england'?????

sauce · 14/05/2007 20:29

Horrible reminder of Ian Huntley's apparently benign assistance early in the Soham case.

Hopefully the resemblance stops there.

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 20:29

think they were saying that to throw certain people/person off the scent?

SwiperNoSwiping · 14/05/2007 20:31

Copied from sky news -

Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt spoke to Mr Murat's mother.

Brunt said: "She's obviously very shaken. She says her son hasn't been arrested but has been taken to the main police station."

She added that no trace of Madeleine had been found and that she expected police to make a statement confirming this.

More follows ...

sauce · 14/05/2007 20:32

Not very positive - sorry.

My dd spoke of Madeleine at school today & all the children in her class prayed together for Madeleine's safe and speedy return to her family.

quietmouse · 14/05/2007 20:34

they've been in the villa for some time now. I really hope she is there, safe and well but I don't think she is in there

Oh god, this is hell. How her parents must be feeling is beyond comprehention.

NuttyMuffins · 14/05/2007 20:36

The criminologist speaking now on bbc news is saying that he thinks Madeleine walked out of the apartment herself and was then abducted from the supermarket nearby.

sauce · 14/05/2007 20:39

What?! Doesn't sound like 3yr old behavior to me. They generally don't go wandering off once they've gone to sleep for the night. Where did they get that idea from? She would have taken her blankie with her, anyway.

SwiperNoSwiping · 14/05/2007 20:41

Aww sauce what you said there about "her blankie" really made me smile just reminds me how innocent these children are...bless her

PinkChick · 14/05/2007 20:41

report on skynews just said they think they can see green tarpaulin erected over part of house??

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 20:42

robertmurat

jenk1 · 14/05/2007 20:44

gaynor de jesus is talking to sky news, apparantly she went to school with robert murat and she met up with him recently in portugal, she said they had been laughing and jokin about him being the prime suspect.

LilyLoo · 14/05/2007 20:48

Dear god i hope this leads to where she is.
