For those of you who are interested - and don't want any arguing - the news update according to Sky

  • police are now looking for a man seen in a white van
  • they have an e-fit of him
  • also want to interview an american who lives locally who owns a white van and hasn't been seen for the last few days
  • reward of £1.5M has been offered by the News of the World
OP posts:

Do you think so, CF?

I think I'm interested in how an (until proven otherwise) innocent man is being treated by the media and some mnetters.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 15/05/2007 22:01

whoooosh but imagine what it will be like for her, once people start telling their children, her classmates, that her father is a paedophile. even if he's innocent in all this there will be those that still believe he's a paedophile. no child should have to go through that, especially unnecessarily.

paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 22:02

That could ruin their lives to.

quietmouse · 15/05/2007 22:04

Thank you ChocolateFace

I just want that beautiful little girl home now. They have all suffered enough.

debbsyandsonn · 15/05/2007 22:07

te 21.35 then again at 21.36 then AGAIN at 21.43 [hmmm]

ChocolateFace · 15/05/2007 22:08

Hope nobody comes up to you Bubble99,and starts an unsolicited conversation about the way an innocent man is being treated by the media. For that surely would be rubber necking.

debbsyandsonn · 15/05/2007 22:08

qm we all do

Bubble99 · 15/05/2007 22:10

Why are you being so defensive, CM?

Did my rubber-necking thread touch a nerve?

Bubble99 · 15/05/2007 22:11

CF

Spidermama · 15/05/2007 22:12

OOOhhhhh NOooooooooo!! Is this thead really going to be leading active convos all night AGAIN????

Why is it called 'updates' when there are none. It should be called specualtion and gossip.

If this is going to be flashing before my eyes every single time I click on active convos for the umpteenth evening running, I will bow out and stay the hell out until you people find some other place to obsess.

And GRRRR!

debbsyandsonn · 15/05/2007 22:15

Spidermama very unfair we are not obsessing just caring and hoping

Whoooosh · 15/05/2007 22:15

I agree Wannabe-hopefully all will be a lot clearer and resolved by then so the poor mite won't have to deal with it.
Probably a blessing he lives in a another country....
Apologies for any insensitivity on my part, like everyone,I just want the poor little girl who (if alive) must be very frightened, alone and missing her parents.
Equally, would not wantt he innocent child of an innocent (or guilty )man to be made to suffer.

Shall we start a new thread for positive news only,as this ine started out-it was a great idea after all?

Spidermama · 15/05/2007 22:16

I wish you would care and hope a bit further away from me then. angry]

glassslipper · 15/05/2007 22:16

I would strongly advise against starting a new thread.

iammewhoru · 15/05/2007 22:17

There should be no more Madeleine threads after this one.

There are no updates. People surely can't be getting anything positive from these as all they lead to is gossip and speculation and bickering.

If she is ever found someone can start a thread then surely.

quietmouse · 15/05/2007 22:17

why do people insist on making a big deal of leaving a thread?

If you don't want to read it - don't.

And no one here is 'obsessed' - thanks for calling me that Tiredemma, I am just a mother who cares about a lost little girl.

JoolsToo · 15/05/2007 22:17

"Shall we start a new thread for positive news only,as this ine started out-it was a great idea after all?"

No, it'll only go the way of the rest

debbsyandsonn · 15/05/2007 22:17

Dont venture in then

jampot · 15/05/2007 22:19

im afraid I agree that there's a lot of obsessing about this and bickering like i've never seen before on here. No one owns the threads.

Whoooosh · 15/05/2007 22:19

Spidermama-you don't have to click on a thread and open it-so don't if it makes you so angry-step away!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 15/05/2007 22:20

IAmMe, these threads really don't sit well with you do they? You created a whole identity in order to post your negativity.. and negativity aimed at other posters not about the situation!

So you post.. and thereby bump. How odd. And negative towards others.

Why not post in your own name?!

iammewhoru · 15/05/2007 22:20

how long can you keep this up

Another week? a month? a year? what if she's never found?

it's unhealthy.

countrylass · 15/05/2007 22:20

I think it has bubble.....

There is deep irony in the fact that this 'positive newsthread' actually contains a bunch of 'caring' people blatantly gossiping about this case, is juxtaposed by a 'rubbernecking' thread with awful people who obviously couldn't give a damn ....

debbsyandsonn · 15/05/2007 22:20

well im off to bed lets hope we have some positive news by the morning.

Spidermama · 15/05/2007 22:21

I won't any more. But neither will I be able to MN because this thread is utterly dominating convos and I don't want it brought to my attention all the time.

I keep thinking you might actually have updates, in which case by all means post, but there are none. You are simply pouring over and over and over the gossip and I am not alone in finding this in extremely poor taste.
