MADELEINE news updates - a new positive thread

For those of you who are interested - and don't want any arguing - the news update according to Sky

  • police are now looking for a man seen in a white van
  • they have an e-fit of him
  • also want to interview an american who lives locally who owns a white van and hasn't been seen for the last few days
  • reward of £1.5M has been offered by the News of the World

But if they thought Madeleine wandered out of the appartment towards the supermarket how do they explain the shutters being broken into?

I don't think they are right on this one....

also a blonde woman was seen looking through the shutters of Madeleine's bedroom that evening and the little girl at the petrol station was seen with a blonde woman.

I do think she was taken from the apartment. and pernaps carried to the supermarket car park where her scent was lost

nothing more has been said about the blonde woman or the petrol station incident. do you think they are still interviewing the suspects or was that just a false lead?

I didn't hear about blonde child with a blonde woman at the petrol station. Was it the same incident as a couple at the petrol station?

yes, blonde woman and two men.

One of the men was apparently identified by a German tourist as having been taking photos of little blonde girls on the beach in a nearby town a few days before. The McCanns were in the town on that particular day.

So let me get this straight. Two men and a blonde woman were seen at a petrol station with a child of Madeleine's description the night she disappeared. One of the men was identified as having been taking photos of blonde girls earlier that week/day? Were these people interviewed? Sorry but this is the first time I have let myself follow what's been going on.

it was reported that two men and a woman were being questioned but I don't know if there's any truth in that at all.

The police are still saying the are studying CCTV....

The McCanns were apparently shown footage of the CCTV from the petrol station but the child was not visible on the film.

No news, except Madeleine's father made another personal appeal earlier.

I wish they could show the e-fit or cctv of the blonde woman and two men or something - surely somebody somewhere would recognise them.

there was a description written of them somewhere but it was vague...

all I remember was one of the men had long hair, centre parting and small glasses and she was 40s, blonde hair also with centre parting

New news - from Mail on Sunday - according to (former) Chief Inspector Albert Kirby who was in charge of the Bulger case and is in contact with the Portuguese police, the McCanns used to leave the patio doors unlocked and popped in and out that way - they and all their friends did that, in case of fire, apparently. The shutters weren't broken, there was no need.

He also says he is v impressed with the police operation over there and feels confident there will be a result by the end of the week.

So...sort of good news. I hope.

Former Scotland Yard detective John O'Connor was saying something very similar on Sky. He thinks Madeleine wandered off herself and got as far as the supermarket and that something happened there - it was closed btw. He thinks she was taken from there and that it will all be resolved within a few days and she will be found very close by. He also claims to have been told things by the police 'unofficially'.

Are they really in touch with the police and would they disclose this sort of information, or have they just been talking to each other?

According to some reports this morning, the police have confirmed evidence of a kidnap situation and that they believe Madeleine is within 3 miles of the resort. Don't know if this is speculation but at least it's positive. Fingers crossed
