For those of you who are interested - and don't want any arguing - the news update according to Sky

  • police are now looking for a man seen in a white van
  • they have an e-fit of him
  • also want to interview an american who lives locally who owns a white van and hasn't been seen for the last few days
  • reward of £1.5M has been offered by the News of the World

Has anyone seen a picture of McCanns daughter? Just wondering how alike Madeline she is.
It would be a wierd coincidence if they are so alike that they could be twins don't you think?

mumof2monsters · 15/05/2007 18:27

RE previous meassage. Is that really a nice thing to be saying and thinking on here. I know you are trying to be a realist but you do not know that for certain and best not to say things you don't know for certain

mumof2monsters · 15/05/2007 18:28

I thought that this thread was supposed to be a postive one.

paulaplumpbottom · 15/05/2007 18:28

Lots of people have daughter who look like her. Mine is very close in looks so I wouldn't think it that strange

ChocolateFace · 15/05/2007 18:29

You mean Murats daughter. I very much hope we don't see any pictures of her. That would be a huge violation of a little girls privacy.

JennyJJ · 15/05/2007 18:29

Let's be honest - lots of us feel dread and fear for what MIGHT have happened, but none of us are giving up hope. Otherwise why would be chatting here?

mumof2monsters · 15/05/2007 18:29

Hey paula
Agree with you there I see similarities with my daughter everyone probably does, that is what makes it so hard

iammewhoru · 15/05/2007 18:30

But everyone on here is saying things they don't know for certain. Speculating about what country she could be taken to and how she might have been taken out of the country etc. Just because that's positive speculation doesn't make it any more wrong than negative prediction.

reece · 15/05/2007 18:31

Yes, sorry about that Chocolate face.(like the name).
I agree that it would not be fair or right to publish the other girls face. I just thought that maybe the press had done as there has been so much talk about their similarities.

ChocolateFace · 15/05/2007 18:33

Until there is evedence to the contrary, I will believe Madeleine is alive and being well cared for. Obviously being away form your family is traumatic for a toddler.I think the police are close to finding her. The sooner the better.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 15/05/2007 18:33

would imagine the media aren't allowed to publish her picture as she's a minor. probably the only thing they're not prepared to publish though..

and I do think that people need to be realistic to a degree.

JennyJJ · 15/05/2007 18:35

I agree with you - but I won't give up hope all the same

mumof2monsters · 15/05/2007 18:36

Here Here chocolate face..I too am trying to think the best (beats thinking the worst) who knows sometimes there may be a happy ending. Saw an article last week about a boy who was abducted from his street in the 1990s in this country and he was found 8 weeks later alive and well although he was with a weirdo. Yes he may have been lucky but there has to be hope and until there is anything to the contary as choc face says then must stay positive. My kids have been asking about madeline and I tell them to pray for her so she comes back to her mummy and daddy safely and that is what we are all doing

mumemma · 15/05/2007 18:38

iammewhoru - don't you think that goes through all of our minds on a regular basis. As far as we know, there's no evidence that she is alive OR dead and yes there are some pretty gruesome statistics on past cases but there are also cases where children have miraculously been ok so let's keep positive. Anyway, this is supposed to be a news thread reporting 'facts' as far as it is possible. Sorry if I am now sounding bossy.

reece · 15/05/2007 18:38

I am trying very hard not to give up hope.
I pray that she is being treated ok and that she will be brought back safely to her parents.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 15/05/2007 18:40

he was with a paedophile though so certainly wasn't being well cared for. A happy ending in terms of that he was found alive, but probably not a happy ending in terms of that he will probably bear the scars of his ordeal for the rest of his life.

I don't think one can ever give up hope, but I do think that to think that she is being well cared for is slightly naive, considering the indications have been that she was abducted for a very perverted cause.

JennyJJ · 15/05/2007 18:42

wbwiwtb - but how do we KNOW that?

mumof2monsters · 15/05/2007 18:43

Well I have had enough of the negative feeling so I am off to light a candle for madeline and pray she is ok. Sorry to rant earlier and I know people say be realistic but I know that if I were the Mccanns and it was my little girl I would have to be positive as they are because that is the only way to cope.
I bid you all farewell!!

LucyJones · 15/05/2007 18:48

I feel really sorry for the 'suspect' and the family
His life turned upside down on the word of a Mirror journalist

JennyJJ · 15/05/2007 18:52

LJ - I am convinced he has just been 'too helpful' and maybe got too involved (haven't we all?) and now got 'burnt'. I hope to God they are focusing on other lines of enquiry too.

kimi · 15/05/2007 18:52

I don't think so much should have been made about this person until they had some proof that he had done something.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 15/05/2007 18:53

we don't know. but if you watch the news then the overwhelming thought is that she was abducted with a sexual motive. Abduction to be sold to a childless couple was ruled out pretty early on as she's too old - children abducted with this reason are generally under 2.

i would imagine the Mccanns have been fully briefed on the suspicians of motive etc by the liaison authorities who are currently with them.

don't get me wrong I'm not saying that it's wrong to hope and be positive, but I do also think that it's important to be realistic, even if one doesn't say it out loud, because if people genuinely think, and believe, that she is being well looked after by a desperate childless couple, then if she is found and it turns out not to be the case, people will be more deeply affected by this case.

jenk1 · 15/05/2007 18:54

apeainapod, i said exactly the same thing last night in my posts 21.59 and 22.08 i thought gaynor de jesus was contradicting herself, she also said that they had been laughing at him being the suspect, i wouldnt find it funny if an old friend of mine was being thought of as a suspect of abducting a child.
she seemed to not be taking it seriously.

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 18:55

not to be nasty but dont you think if this little girl was being looked after somewhere safe someone might have put her forward for the £2.5 million reward?

be realistic please, its not nice but we all live in this crazy world where some people are fucking evil bastards who need stringing up by the balls!

rollonsummerholidays · 15/05/2007 18:57

lulcyjones that is a brave statement as human nature we all want answers and hopefully a positive result with madeliene reunited with her distraught family.
