This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

I would make the subject heading something like:

?following wide news coverage of a 3 year old girl abducted in Portugal, we need your help?.

IMO important to point out this has been in the news as this will confirm the authenticity of the email. Recipiant can just go to google news and see that this really happened and will be less likely to bin it.

TBH she could be anywhere in Europe - even here.

In marketing terms, this is viral marketing. It is by nature fairly unco-ordinated because it relies on people forwarding something by email to as many people as possible and hopfully it will just take off. The family have asked people to download and circulate. Not a bad idea to talk to Leic police but really this thing just needs to get started.

Good idea to divide tasks up by town/type of organisation but also, if anyone has any Spanish connections no harm in just asking them to circulate to as many people as they can.

The subject line is key, I think wanna's works.

And yes, she could be anywhere but it probably isn't a well known case in SPain and to be honest, you have to start somewhere.

I guess Spain is more of apossibilty becasue you don't have to get on a plane or boat?

also contact airlines. every flight that goes out shows a safety video. so every aeroplane has a screen, they could all show this poster on flights into and out of the UK, to every country in the world.

I ahve just spoken to Leicestershire police (not particularly helpful)they have sugested we contact the Spanish authorities but I don't see why this is necessaery?

Can I just reiterate then, we are just boosting the families poster campaign but helping to spread the word. Nothing more.

Agreed davina. Lets just get on with it. As I said before, this is how it works. All we are doing is distributing a poster with a number on it. Criminologist said last night that 95% of these cases are solved by the public, not the police so these campaigns really do help.

I will get the poster translated into Hungarian and start distributing it here. May also be able to get it e-mailed around Bulgaria.

ive had the email and forwarded it to my local freecycle cafe to reach some more people

what about everyone printing out flyers and posting them through their neighbours letterboxes? or getting a spanish company to do so if we donate money for printing fee?

Getting someone to do a misfit like change hair colour/cut hair etc in case they have done this (with is very likely)

how about us emailing SPanish airline/holiday companies and asking them to lend a hand? Apart from the altruism, I think that they will have an interest in ensuring that this incident doesn't impact the tourist industry.

We need to say who Madeleine is, where she was abducted from and that there is a possibility she is in Spain.

We also need to provide a number for pwople to contact if they have information and ask people to be spread the word and display posters etc.

Once we have decided on all of this we can then link to the poster and start on a list.

I would also be really grateful if someone could link to this thread from the candle thread?
