This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

Or Brian Blessed from Z Cars. That would have solved these mysteries. Evening all.

Thoroughly outing myself as an oldie here.

mumof2monsters · 05/06/2007 13:53

it must be great to be such a funny person....

wannaBe · 05/06/2007 13:55

wonder if he has a dog called doogle?

NKF · 05/06/2007 13:56

Is Brian funny? I thought he was very serious. A serious man who could predict the future. Available on this premium phone line etc....

Fimbo · 05/06/2007 13:58

Oi my dad is called Brian!

Brian'sPredictions - priceless

wannaBe · 05/06/2007 13:59

maybe he's a psychic commedian.

"I predict... that ... if you keep logging on to my website.... I'll tell you ... what you think you want to hear ... aaaaaah fooled ya" .

NKF · 05/06/2007 14:01

I predict that if you keep logging onto my website (have your credit card details handy) I am going to be very rich indeed.....

wannaBe · 05/06/2007 14:02

and it's so much easier to predict that than to predict the lottery numbers because that's costing me a fortune because my prediction radar just isn't getting the right signal ...

EricL · 05/06/2007 15:51

It's a sad state of affairs when these people try and use a situation like this to further publicise themselves and their bank accounts. Sounds like everyone should give this Brian guy the respect he deserves - ie. none.

This Echelon system doesn't always work so i would be very careful about reading too much into this. They have used it before to hunt for terror suspects after 9/11 and got burnt when they raided a guys flat who was just a musician discussing song lyrics over the phone with his bandmates.

He happened to use a few of the keywords on their system and they jumped to conclusions instead of carrying out further more reliable investigative methods which would have shown that he was just a normal guy instead of a terrorist.

Frizbe · 05/06/2007 18:35

to answer mum2monsters, I've not been reading the brian site at all, but someone posted a link to carole everett's site the other day and some of what the telegraph reports could be said to match up to the info she has supplied police with.

BigPantsRule · 05/06/2007 18:38

Davina and anyone else who might be able to help - you had some translations done a few weeks ago. Were you able to obtain a translation of the covering e-mail for the poster into German and other languages apart from Spanish?

Thanks and best regards

BigPants

SarahTat · 05/06/2007 20:08

Hi all - I know I'm coming in late, but I've been exchanging emails with Joanne Griffin who is trying to co-ordinate people wanting to help in the campaign. She asked me to concentrate on France and so far I've got an email translated into French that explains the situation and I've also got somebody in Toulouse printing off and displaying the posters in as many places as possible. However I'm struggling getting French email addresses for businesses - any tips on how to find these via the web? Also if anybody wants to help I can supply the french text - just let me know your email. Thanx and hope I'm not duplicating...

NKF · 05/06/2007 20:13

Dear old Carole Everett. I'm glad to see she's on the case. Does she know when there'll be any results? What with being psychic and all that.

TaylorsMummy · 05/06/2007 20:35

my aunt is in spain atm.she says she has seen nothing of madeleine out there at all.she took some posters with her and has left them around.she took one in the catheradal, can't remember where, seville maybe?? but shocked there is nothing of her that at all

herby100 · 05/06/2007 23:44

If you look on www.caroleverett.com she has drawn three suspects for this case. She has some new information up in the last week she has felt that the police are now closing in on this German guy and they (possibly Madeleine) are on a boat near the border of Germany in a cove. She states that the cove is near a long island or called long island. There is a long island off the East Frisian island.North coast of Germany called Langeooge (long island). Take a look at this site for your self, I have experienced this lady and her acuracy and predictions were amazing. At the end of all this I am certain her imformation will be proven correct. Carol was tested in Tokyo and proven, it is all on the website.

wannaBe · 06/06/2007 07:18

ah, another psychic. amazes me how these nutjobs sit in their houses doing the predictions - if she knew where MAdeleine was then she would be on her way there surely so as she could claim her part of the £2.5 m reward.

this thread has become a mockery now and I think that all references to psychics on it should be deleted.

BigPantsRule · 06/06/2007 11:09

SarahTat - can I just asked if you had the e-mail translated properly or did you use translation software? I might be able to help with this as I am also in touch with Joanne!

Loobyloo22 · 06/06/2007 11:27

I am new to this site and am so shocked at the high emotion caused by this topic and the reference to psychics. To say all related topics should be deleted is ridiculous. Personally I am dubious about all these claims but being a reasonable person I don't think a complete white- wash on the subject is called for.

I do think there are a lot of charlatans out there but I do think that on some level there must be something in it. The McCanns can decide for themselves what they want to take on board.

If we are going to start taking the p* out of people believing in something that has NEVER been proven true on any level, which people had unscrupulously used as a tool to make money over centuries and which some people believe to be a steaming pile of hocus pocus nonesense, then lets have a theological debate about RELIGION as it falls in to all the same categories. All religion is based on NOTHING but ifs, buts and faith but I doubt any of you would laugh at or ridicule the McCanns for going in to church every day and praying.

Nearlyemptynest · 06/06/2007 13:14

Hello all!

As you have mentioned Joanne Griffin, I thought it would be useful to see what she had done and what your group had done and try to make some sort of list that combines both - If you would like me to I am halfway through it and should be able to get it done today and then you can add whatever you like to it!

Here is the general idea of what Joanne has been up to:

Hey fellow 'helpers' (don't know what else to call us... we are trying to 'help', so it makes us 'helpers')

I don't really know how to thankyou all for responding to my messages on various forums etc... just thankyou is all I can say. We are all people with something in common. We wish to help that little girl be found. We all feel the same way. Gerry McCann was right when he said that out of one evil vile act has come so much goodness.

Just a few things that have come up today.

Firstly, I have been made aware of a petition at the Downing Street website. Here is what the petition says....

I believe I speak for our nation when I say that the people of Britain want to help find Madeleine McCann & bring her safely home. Not only is she a little girl, she is a British citizen and as such deserves our every effort in finding her. I petition the Prime Minister to send EVERY available intelligence & resource to assist in the search, and use every contact, of which he has many, to get Madeleine back. Thank you, PLS FORWARD TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS.

The web address for you to sign, if you have not already done so is petitions.pm.gov.uk/HelpMadeleine/

You will receive a 'follow-up' email, which you have to respond to in order for your signature to be verified and included.

Secondly, myself and some others are formulating a 'HOW YOU CAN HELP' list, which we anticipate being able to email on to our contacts, and to everybody we have emailed the poster/banner to. Should you have any good ideas then please email me and let me know. I will read every single response, but probably wont reply, as my email box is jam packed with a good few hours worth of processing new emails from people wishing to register their willingness to help.

Thirdly, keep recruiting to 'the helpers'. On forums, by texts, by email, by phone, by mums at the school gate (dads as well) by the intranet at work. By flyers, by notices in the local post office window...

Finally, such has been the response to my asking for fellow 'helpers', I have to start thinking about a website. (?www.helpingtofindmadeleine.com?) I am a nurse and Health Visitor by trade, and have got ZERO experience with web design. If you know of somebody, have any contacts, or can help me directly, please email me on my personal email address [email protected]

End of Joanne email.

I live in Leicestershire and my son was treated by the cardiac team at Glenfield and a colleague of mine was diagnosed by Gerry Mccann and his life was saved by surgery. This couple are working at saving lives I guess that's why so many of us want to help them too!

SarahTat · 06/06/2007 22:38

Hi Bigpantsrule

I had it translated by my cousins husband who is french - the translation tools on the web tend to translate word for word, which makes no sense. Do you want the translation? if so I can send it in English and in French. Just let me have your email address.

Thanks

BigPantsRule · 06/06/2007 23:16

Thanks, Sarah! Please could you send both texts to me. I think they are going to be needed for Morocco, which is the next country to be targeted! I'll make any necessary adjustments (e.g. any references to the country itself) and send it on to Jo Griffin. I don't think they yet have a translation of their own e-mail but I'm sure they'll appreciate this one.

Best regards
BP

Hi BP

Just emailed to you - sorry for the delay.

Sarah

MrsSpoon · 09/06/2007 12:52

Just a question to those who have printed off the poster and taken it abroad with them. Did you use the current one on the McCann's official website? Is that one just for attaching to emails and sending to businesses? I know this sounds terrible but it looks like it will be hefty on ink and I wondered if there was another more 'printer friendly' version.

foxcub · 13/06/2007 20:16

According to teletext, the police are now searching a specific area in Portugal for Madeleine's body, following an anonymous letter sent to Dutch police. Apparently it strongly resembles a letter sent in the past, which accurately pinpointed the burila of the bodies of two Belgian girls who were missing.

The area is 7 miles from the holiday apartment

I really hope its a hoax

Mt stomach is all knotted

Minniethemoocher · 28/06/2007 10:15

Quote from www.findmadeleine.com

^What should someone do if they think they see Madeleine.?

The clear advice is to call the local police as soon as possible or someone working in an official capacity such as hotel staff or tour representative. Please note that the emergency police numbers are variable in each country. The number in Portugal and Spain is 112 but in Germany it is 110 . The number for most countries can be found at

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_telephone_number#Europe

and for those going on holiday it might be a good idea to enter the number in your mobile phone.

If there is a sighting the police would need as much information as possible. If there is a car involved please remember to record the registration number if possible.^

The summer holiday season is just about to start and I hope that posting this info may help to find this poor little girl.

It would be very helpful to the police if you could take a photo, if it would be possible to do so without arousing the suspicions or attracting the attention of the "suspect/s"

The Maltese police have already ruled out one of a number of sightings because a photograph was taken of the child.
