New thread to discuss the developments from the news for Madeleine Mccann

I know the other thread got a bit out of hand but lets keep this one nice if possible.

I think it is good to discuss all that is happening in the news & also good to see peoples views on what is happening in the news.

The lastest i can see so far is that Madeleins parents want to keep focused on the finding of there daughter & want to keep this in the news they don't want things to turn on the police investigation & how it is being handled.

Mr & Mrs Mccann have also decided they want an E poster which they are going to be sending out through email to spread the news so that everyone, everywhere can look out for beautiful Madeleine.

Agree MP

just coz I never left the boys doesn'tmean I wouldn't have in a different sitruation, or indeed if two didnt have SN- who knows?

I imagine the most vocal of the please don't leave yur kids viewpoint is now Maddy's mother.

The reality is that we should be able to leave our kids as longa s we can see the room is safe without being scared that soe nutter will take them. Mostly we know that we cant do that, but on holiday the real world can seem very far away and things can seem very safe.

Should Maddy's Mum or dad stroll onto MN then at what they would see (and they might, what else do they have to occupy the long hours?) but I would want them to know that they ahvenothing but sympathy from me, and that I am thinking of them in sorrow and horrow at their plight

I am personally quite neurotic and paranoid I'll admit and dont let my child out of my sight at all (apart from her going to school!!) I suspect in fact I know that's not particularly healthy and I suspect I have a disproportionate view of how dangerous this world we live in is TBH - these things are mercifully rare - but I know that's cold comfort though when it happens to you I suppose.

PinkChick · 10/05/2007 12:18

theyre trying to trace two men and a woman, a man and woman have been reported as taking pics of children in area 3 days before Madeleines dissapearance and they have narrowed the search, suggesting the car they were told of has been located and they amy have something??

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:19

Wannabe an article in The Times yesterday said that the Portugese Police said they thought there might be some involvement from someone known to th McCanns but that the McCanns hadnt told them about (whether police or speculation not sure, cat find paper)

Sounded like they were trying to dismiss Porugese involvement to me tbh, but maybe theres more to it- who knows?

Women unfortunatelya re involved in the child sales for porn racket- unbelievbaly imo

binkleandflip · 10/05/2007 12:19

I dont think there is one person on here who doesnt sympathise and feel sick about the whole thing either, however they've might've voiced their opinions.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 10/05/2007 12:25

peachy yes there's been an awful lot of talk of "it couldn't possibly be a portuguese person" as "the portuguese love children so much" almost making the rest of the world out to not love hildren as much as the portuguese iyswim. but on the flip side there was an artacle someone linked to that said that portuguese child protection procedures were some of the worst in the world, but again it was linked to the fact that the portuguese love their children so much ...

I have to say that it had crossed my mind almost from the outset that it was someone known to the family, and tbh it wouldn't surprise me if it was, because the disappearance seemed so odd - that particular child, when there was a younger one there, that particular family, when there must have been other similar, perhaps single children who would have been easier to take - that particular resort, when there must be easier places to take a child eg a beach/playground/funfair.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:27

It often is I think someone known, who knows in this case? Tahnkfully I dont think I think like a child snatcher

at the attitude of lack of experience due to lack of child crimes- rather like here in the seventies before people started to talk about it!

layman · 10/05/2007 12:36

Well I've found out now how lax Portugal is when it comes to preventing child trafficking/abductions.

I hope the scale of the investigation is ongoing. Yes, with it being a british girl there will be a british led investigation, and I really do hope they are successful obviously.

Other children might be saved too.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:38

Layman can we ask about your experiences? Or is too too painful (in which case please ignore)

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 10/05/2007 12:51

interesting perspective on the media coverage

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:55

Good article

layman · 10/05/2007 12:57

Can you explain peachychocolate eclair?

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 12:58

Oh xorry when you said well i fiound out I thought you ahd some eprsonal experience, is all

layman · 10/05/2007 13:00

Oh, I see. Sorry thought it was a mumsnet special.

No nothing personal to me but I did find out that a child protection group (can't remember the name) were rebuffed on requesting a base in Portugal.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 13:05

I think that says a lot really doesn't it?

layman · 10/05/2007 13:07

I know {{sigh}}

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 10/05/2007 13:08

hmm according to the bbc news the reports are that police are looking for two men and a woman photographed at a petrol station "on the night that madeleine disappeared". that doesn't sound as positive to me tbh - that was a week ago. they could be anywhere by now.

donnie · 10/05/2007 13:19

HerculesMorse you really ought to shut the fuck up. You are taking the mick big time. You deserve a bloody slap for that post. Shame on you - what a despicable thing to post.

cleaninglady · 10/05/2007 13:30

Does anyone know what the "4 definate leads" are that crimestoppers have advised? the blonde women seems to crop up a few times and is a definate suspect now according to sky news about ten mins ago but just wondered what the other leads where? suppose we wont get to know for a while yet ?

quietmouse · 10/05/2007 13:40

well said donnie

scatterbrain · 10/05/2007 13:43

On sky news - police have 3 prime suspects - and have just been seen leaving the resort in a hurry - with the McCanns. 2 men and 1 woman seen with a girl who resembled Madeleine.

press conf shortly

Kate McCann looked terrible - at church in a vigil - could hardly walk - her ds or dsil virtually holding her up - shoot me down but I am in tears at the sight of her

foxcub · 10/05/2007 13:45

layman - I think it was the "Innocents in Danger" group - a group campaigning against peadophilia and trying to raise awareness of how peads operate. They claimed the Portugese Police were corruipt and in league with peadophile rings or something, so decided not to try having a base in portugal, due to the lack of support there.

Don't know how true that all is but I am astounded that the police are referring - a week later - to CCTV pics from the night of the dissapearance. It beggars belief really!

scatterbrain · 10/05/2007 13:46

Connected with the petrol station CCTV sighing - british numberplated car

Also another incident before Madeleiene was taken - elsewhere in Algarve - seems to be connected - a Dad chased off a man photographing his little girl on the beach

foxcub · 10/05/2007 13:49

Press conference at 18.30pm tonight.

Judging by their previous press conferences though - wouldn't hold yer breath...

scatterbrain · 10/05/2007 13:52

Taking the parents is a sign of something though - it must be !
