New thread to discuss the developments from the news for Madeleine Mccann

I know the other thread got a bit out of hand but lets keep this one nice if possible.

I think it is good to discuss all that is happening in the news & also good to see peoples views on what is happening in the news.

The lastest i can see so far is that Madeleins parents want to keep focused on the finding of there daughter & want to keep this in the news they don't want things to turn on the police investigation & how it is being handled.

Mr & Mrs Mccann have also decided they want an E poster which they are going to be sending out through email to spread the news so that everyone, everywhere can look out for beautiful Madeleine.

Oh lord, PLEASE don't turn this thread in to another "well we would not leave our child alone/ they were wrong/right/silly" thread PLEASE

foxcub · 13/05/2007 20:01

cleaning lady - feel the same as you - kind of fed up with the media frenzy but drawn in as I am hanging on any bit of news.....hoping...

I agree with the family that it needs to be kept in the spotlight though - in case anyone spots any clues...

cleaninglady · 13/05/2007 20:14

Think this one is mainly news stuff Kimi thankfully - any dodgy comments seem to have been dealt with quickly! Keeping this in the public eye is extremely important - dissecting the whys and wherefores isnt IMHO - my personal bug bear is not seeing her name spelt correctly

ThatBeetroot · 13/05/2007 21:07

kimi I have not siad that - I have jsut become bored with the sky being able to cover no news 24/7.

It is like 24hr SUN -

belladonna · 13/05/2007 21:16

I was not slating the parents at all. Nor do I like the tone of whoever called this a "bitchfest".

There is a genuine parenting angle here. As parents we all do things that are wrong. Sometimes we know that we are doing things wrong. But sometimes we kid ourselves that we are not doing something wrong "really".

The point I wanted to make is that there is a legal position here. It is not right - either legally or morally - to leave very young children alone.

Much of the media coverage has rightly downplayed this angle. That's fair enough in the circumstances.

But as parents, we should not kid ourselves.

belladonna, this is a thread to discuss news developments, not parenting styles. Frankly, this is neither the time nor the place.

quietmouse · 13/05/2007 21:35

belladonna - your post is pointless atm.

If you want to discuss the rights and wrongs of this case, you should do it elsewhere.

It is simply not appropriate and is highly insensitive.

debbsyandsonn · 13/05/2007 21:44

bella donna (shakes head) this is neither the time or the place for judging so bugger off!

foxcub · 13/05/2007 21:47

ditto

belladonna · 13/05/2007 21:56

What surprises me is when reasoned comments are being made in all seriousness - you lot just get abusive. Why is that?

I am really hoping that Madeleine gets found. What I don't see is how being abusive and foul-mouthed to other mums is the way to do that.

I don't know why you lot are incapable of entering into reasoned discussiosn. I know this is every parents' worst nightmare. I know that.

I am also surprised by (a) the general level of literacy and (b) the foul-mouthed nature of this site.

So I think I'll leave you lot to your own devices. Mind you, you sound like you're all the sort of people who lock your kids up then go out for dinner.

ChocolateFace · 13/05/2007 21:58

Incase you hadn't realised this is a thread to discuss the developments from the news for Madeleine McCann.

debbsyandsonn · 13/05/2007 22:03

bye then shut the door on your way out.

Rhubarb · 13/05/2007 22:06

"Mind you, you sound like you're all the sort of people who lock your kids up then go out for dinner. "

How insensitive! I have reported that post and am really really shocked that you could even have thought to say such a thing!

I think the parents are being punished enough don't you? I hope you posted your comment without thinking. I really do.

quietmouse · 13/05/2007 22:08

bye then belladonna - you will not be missed

DimpledThighs · 13/05/2007 22:09

I hate this thread - I hate all the threads about this.

debbsyandsonn · 13/05/2007 22:12

Dont read them then
im actually looking at this more than the news now as its so upsetting to see her family so distraught that poor little girl

mumemma · 13/05/2007 22:43

FGS DimpledThighs, what is the point in announcing that you hate the thread(s) - the title tells you what it's about - you don't have to read it!

DimpledThighs · 13/05/2007 22:50

I came on because I thought the title of the thread would mean there would be news on here, but instead it is yet more posts where people are being painfully horrible to each other about the family of what they think about the situation.

I am fine with the thread about the poster circulation and have used the link and sent some posters off - but I am so angry that each time I look on hre it is people having a go at each about something so deeply painful.

imaginaryfriend · 13/05/2007 23:01

DT, up until this evening this thread has been predominently about news updates. then belladonna decided to come on and be vile. She's gone now so we can go back to discussing what the thread aims to do instead of celebrating what wonderful parents we are in comparison Madeleine's family.

imaginaryfriend · 13/05/2007 23:02

Sorry - belladonna's post made me so

binkleandflip · 13/05/2007 23:05

Why have the Mccanns got lawyers drafted in?

DimpledThighs · 13/05/2007 23:06

oh fine sorry then apologies - just saw it was news, came on and skimmed down the six or so most recent posts and got angry.

Think the poster one is great thoguh.
