dionnelorraine
you are the voice of reason

ThatBeetroot · 08/05/2007 14:49

oh ok - but Portugese police are not allowed to talk about is so everything is guesswork.

Beetroot there were British crime officers over there on the news this afternoon. It is hard as the police cannot authenticate anything but i would be surprised that they would say these specialist officers had arrived had that not been true. However it is always going to be an element of guess although tugmommy has said they are making statements now (she is portugese)

charlottelouise · 08/05/2007 14:56

Has anything like this ever happened in portugal before??

LaCerbiatta · 08/05/2007 14:57

yes they're making statements but just for the sake of it, they're not actually saying anything. They made a statement yesterday but it was pointless wasnn't it?

donnie · 08/05/2007 15:02

oh the irony....

LaCerbiatta · 08/05/2007 15:03

No, looks like nothing like this ever happened. Lots of child abuse and sexual crimes, but always coming from the family (). There was a very recent case, also in the Algarve about a girl that disappeared, she just vanished after going to get some milk and bread to the shop or something. It was quite big in the news but then it turned out it was her mother and uncle (disgust emoticon). The police were greatly criticised, they did lots of thinks wrong apparently, hopefully they took some lessons from it....

Actually I just had a look at the web page of Policia Judiciaria because I saw in the news that Madeleine was there in the missing persons and there are so few other children there, some pictures look really old as well

oliveoil · 08/05/2007 15:06

Nemo2007 · 08/05/2007 15:10

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 15:12

yes, that's right, on Saturday

Lets all hope she is home then to celebrate

oliveoil · 08/05/2007 15:14

LilyLoo · 08/05/2007 15:28

Nemo her uncle said that they were still going ahead with party preperations.

scatterbrain · 08/05/2007 15:30

Did anyone just see SKY news - they were interviewing Madeleine's nursery teacher (NB she called her Madeleine and never Maddie) - and it was such a non interview - the poor woman looked so embarassed. Waste of time !

That is what I mean by timefilling. Poor woman probably felt she had to do it

ScoobyDooooo · 08/05/2007 15:34

They are saying they need british police help now...

read it here

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 08/05/2007 15:46

interviewing the nursery teacher - now that really is filling news space.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 08/05/2007 15:49

no scooby they're not saying they need brittish police - that report says that a former brittish police officer, and now child protection expert is sayint that they should draft in brittish police. that's vastly different to saying "they're saying they need the brittish police".

LaCerbiatta · 08/05/2007 15:50

In one of the portuguese tabloids today they have how the parents met and fell in love!!! Talk about about useless information!

TeeJaye · 08/05/2007 16:19

If they were being watched, it looks like the McCanns made it easy for the abductor to know when to strike.

Correio da Manha also reported that the McCanns had left their children alone before during their holiday in the Algarve. "Police have reconstructed the holiday routines of the McCanns and have come to the conclusion that the children were left alone on other occasions," the daily said.

TeeJaye · 08/05/2007 16:30

Q&A: Madeleine McCann

ELF1981 · 08/05/2007 16:40

that thought frightens me - the whole "on order" idea. Its one thing to think of sicko's out there taking an interest in our children, but another to think that these things happen

mommajools · 08/05/2007 17:11

police have sealed off a town called Nellas as they have sighted a man with a girl of Madeleine's description.
