We can discuss parenting styles in a few weeks

oh come on . You have to respect Portuguese law and procedures here, it isn't going to be done the "British way" with full media intrusion because it didn't happen here, frustrating though you may find it. Since when did ongoing police investigations become public property ? There appear to be no real developments tonight so just let it lie .

rabbleraiser · 07/05/2007 21:01

Let it lie permanently.

This thread, and others on the same subject, are undignified, unseemly and unnecessary.

TeeJaye · 07/05/2007 21:03

Interpol joins in the search for Maddy

mshadowsnumber1fan · 07/05/2007 21:19

ffs not yet another thread

"Police 'unsure' Madeleine alive"

BBC

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 07:52

omg, what a cruel blow for the family

I feel bad to say this but I think the police investigation has been a shambles. They have really been let down, imo.

Heartbreaking

iammewhoru · 08/05/2007 08:07

This is just so horrible.

But I do think that talk of the police investigation being a shambles is just based on opinion and supposition because of the lack of information. We don?t actually know what the police are doing because they?re not telling us. So how can we possibly know that the investigation is a shambles?

they had Kate Mccan?s uncle on gmtv this morning and when asked how the family felt about the police investigation he said that they thought that everything possible was being done. Also some detective said that people here have criticised the police investigation because of the lack of information being given to the media, but that it was because of legality in Portugal that this information cannot be released so as not to prejudice any future trial.

VoodooMama · 08/05/2007 09:49

the persons saying 'stop it' have got me a bit puzzled,
if they really dislike whats on this thread why do they keep reading it?
just delete it off your watch list.

I find this thread helpful to communicate with other mothers who are saddened by this and together we are dealing with waiting for the news.

I realise the family etc may read this, but surely they would take some comfort in knowing how many people care?

Enid · 08/05/2007 09:52

stop

VoodooMama · 08/05/2007 09:54

?

auntyspan · 08/05/2007 10:01

I agree. If people don't want to be reminded about this story then why are they still reading? We're all grown-ups here - what happened to freedom of speech?

People might even feel better discussing it.... and we need to keep it at the forefront of the media if nothing else to keep the pressure on the authorities.

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 10:05

I agree VM.

The worst feeling in the world for these poor parents would be one of being abandoned.

It angers me when I see Madeleine is no longer top of the news or the front page of every paper so just think how they must feel?

If you don't want to talk about it or read about it then don't look at the thread.

I have no one to talk to about this and it is really effecting me. I am not going to apologise for caring.

Enid · 08/05/2007 10:18

oh for gods sake

do you really think it will matter to those poor people if you are not discussing it endlessly?

tbh if they ever read this thread (and I pray they never do) I think they would be sickened

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 10:19

that's your opinion Enid. I disagree with you.

foxcub · 08/05/2007 10:25

I have been lurking here for two day and have found it very helpful.

My DD is nearly four and I feel so much for Madeleine's poor parents. They are going through the worst hell imaginable for any parent.

LilyLoo · 08/05/2007 10:27

Enid not read this whole thread but wondering why her parents would be sickened ?

auntyspan · 08/05/2007 10:28

Why on earth would they be sickened? A load of strangers discussing their daughter's disappearance - all clearly very affected by it and hoping and praying that she's found safe and well? Surely they would feel touched that so many people are thinking of them?

We're all parents here. We all care, that much is obvious.

Let's all keep praying she's OK and will be back with her family soon.

Enid · 08/05/2007 10:28

well why not read the whole thread

CoteDAzur · 08/05/2007 10:40

I am with VoodooMama and auntyspan on this.

So obviously we want to talk about it. Others who don't should maybe "stop" with their censorship attempts.

The level of involvement I feel in Madeleine's disappearance might very well be unhealthy. DH tells me so. But my heart has been aching since I heard about it. I look at DD and tears well up when I try to imagine what Madeleine's mother must be going through. I can't stop thinking about where she might be, who can possibly have taken her, how can her safe return be arranged.

So I feel the need to talk to others about it, and I want to read what they have to say, what their thoughts, feelings, and ideas are.

Those who just want to see the news should look elsewhere. MN is not Reuters, it is a place where people talk about things they care about.

PedroPony · 08/05/2007 10:40

I can't stop thinking about where she might be

GET YOUR OWN LIFE BACK

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 10:42

you are heartless pedro.

Why don't you just leave the thread and let us get on with it? We are not harming you or anyone else.

We care about Madeleine.

Why should you tell us what to do and feel?

PedroPony · 08/05/2007 10:43

i care
i think you lto care FAR too much

IN MY OPINION

Enid · 08/05/2007 10:43

competitive grieving

PedroPony · 08/05/2007 10:43

utterly butterly

ArcticRoll · 08/05/2007 10:46

Agree with Enid and Pedro.
