We can discuss parenting styles in a few weeks

Sad that there is no news and I hope she turns up soon x

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 06/05/2007 08:49

they just had the mayor of that village on 5 live and he said "unfortunately, there have been no further developments".

thisisdavina · 06/05/2007 09:22

There is a thread on the U K Business forums at the moment (Time Out section I think) which is shocking.

One poster has made the most awful comments about these parents (really really horrible and strong stuff) and quite a few people seem to be in agrement with him .

I won't repeat what has been said on here. I know that people on Mumsnet (and a few other parenting forums) have also made judgements but generally it has been frowned upon and the topic brought back to the real subject (ie whether or not Madeline is OK)

Sorry for posting this but I am shocked at what I have read online this morning

Some of you have been very judgemental of these poor parents for leaving the children.
I am sure this family are thinking WHAT IF and having to deal with so much.
While the lovely mumsnetter can all sit back and pat yourselves on the back whit how clever you all are as you have never done anything that could have turned out badly.

I am sure this family will be glad to know the holier then thou mumsnetters who protect their children from the evils of sausage rolls and fruit shoots have been judge and jury over the right or wrongs of leaving the children alone.

Just so as we are all clear I take t that anyone who posts they have lost a child will meet with the same "well it was their fault" mentality. Cot death well must have let baby get too hot or too old or laid wrong, still birth well must have done something wrong in the pregnancy, special needs, must be something the parents did/did not do, can't get pregnant well must be their life style, partner fun off, well they can't have been a good wife/girlfriend.

Then you can all sit back and rejoice in how fucking clever and perfect you are, that it has not happened to you.

Copied and pasted "by wilkie" by mistake sorry wilkie

NuttyMuffins · 06/05/2007 09:35

Would love to Littlelapin but am sick to death of being accused of wallowing in someone else's grief.

NuttyMuffins - you don't need anyone else's permission to say a prayer or have Madeleine and her parents in your thoughts. I don't give a toss what people think of me.

I so hope she is found safe and well today.

VoodooMama · 06/05/2007 09:58

feel so sad for the family and hope they will find her today. It beggars belief that anyone can be so callous and cold hearted as to steal a child.

Beautiful thought LL thank you.

AitchTwoOh · 06/05/2007 10:22

vera, your post, the one that you've republished... it's a bit of a crock, you know.

it's SO insulting to so many people who use MN. you know that it's NOT TRUE that people who can't have children, have a miscarriage or stillbirth are responsible, and shame on you for saying it. but is suppose trampling all over their grief is okay because you were making a spurious point?

afaik, no-one is holding the McCanns responsible for what's happened at all, nor has anyone done for days. some people, myself included, were questioning some of the over-identifying of MNers but no-one's saying the parents were responsible at all and it's shitty of you to suggest that they do.

and if the over-identifyers could actually explain themselves without going all huffy and insulting then we might have got further with understanding the many different types of people who post on here. but no one this morning seems to have taken account of the long conversations that took place last night, they've just started posting where they left off. tbh, if the McCann's do find themselves on MN reading these threads at some point in the future there's every chance they'll find all the 'any news?' and speculation over the whereabouts of their daughter very distasteful indeed.

and now i might go and post on LL's thread, lighting a candle as it were for the wee missing girl. but i'll post once, because more than that would be weird. how many times do you need to say 'it's terrible'? it is terrible, fucking terrible.

thedogsbollox · 06/05/2007 10:27

Aitch, I have to confess that I'm surprised that someone who doesn't 'over-identify' has posted more on this thread than anyone else!

There is irony in that somewhere!

AitchTwoOh · 06/05/2007 10:29

it's not ironic in the slightest. i was involved in a conversation last night, as often happens on MN on a saturday night. [puzzled]

quietmouse · 06/05/2007 10:37

Aitch - the conversation was finished wasn't it? Why keep coming back to the thread if you don't identify with it?

just leave it now. You've made your point (I think )

AitchTwoOh · 06/05/2007 10:48

lol! you're surely not closing the thread down, quietmouse? didn't you huffily accuse us of doing the same thing last night?
the conversation has been continued this morning by vera and all the 'hear hearers' and i wanted to point out that no one is judging the mccanns, that's all. i'm allowed to try to keep things truthful, am i not?

CaptainUnderpants · 06/05/2007 10:59

just bringing it back to the thread title ...

How many hours is it now since the local police have said they have a suspect ?

ThatBeetroot · 06/05/2007 11:09

sky news has just said that the only suspect was a siteing of a man carrying a child and this person only saw him form the back - so the photo fit is really only fomr the back.

ggglimpopo · 06/05/2007 11:10

Hiya beets

Saturn74 · 06/05/2007 11:22

veraduckworthshandbag, that was an incredibly offensive post.
I can't imagine that I would ever type anything so hurtful, but if I had, I would be asking for it to be deleted, rather than reposting it.

vera,
that is the most disgusting offensive thing I have ever read on MN.
