Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

I'm shocked that GOSH nurses have volunteered to attend. I'm not. They're good people who want the best for Charlie, regardless of this fiasco that is unfolding.

Incitatis · 26/07/2017 14:24

Yip cjt110 Sad

AcrossthePond55 · 26/07/2017 14:24

Pardon my ignorance, but 'volunteer' as in on their own time, or 'volunteer' as in doing it on their regular 'duty time'?

Would they be covered under GOSH malpractice insurance? Would GOSH even want to open themselves up to that liability?

(Obvs in the US here where everything is very litigious)

Ceto · 26/07/2017 14:24

MrsS, Armstrong is presumably not hurrying because he's waiting for the witness.

blueskyinmarch · 26/07/2017 14:24

The nurses who have cared for him throughout have probably become very attached to him and have agreed to care for him until the end? I don't think it is the nurses giving him day to day care that the family have beef with, just the decision makers and senior staff I would imagine.

MrsSthe3rd · 26/07/2017 14:25

absolutely agree cjt. I'm so angry that another Mum would put themselves before that of their DC

Ceto · 26/07/2017 14:25

Witness just turned up, court adjourning.

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 14:25

I don't think the 'missed time in court' request is reasonable. That was a choice and extending time now is at the expense of Charlie's comfort.

RitaMills · 26/07/2017 14:25

I've completely lost track of these threads so sorry if this has been asked, is today the last court day for definite or is there a chance it could go back to court tomorrow (or any other day)?

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 14:25

FFS, why is Armstrong not just getting on with things!!

Because his witness is sitting on a train somewhere, and the judge hasn't even got his CV to look at, I suppose.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 26/07/2017 14:25

A week from today is 2nd August. I'm still expecting the plan or hope to be to extend that to, or just past, Charlie's birthday on 4th August.

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 14:25

Have the GOSH staff volunteered to help at their home or in the hospice?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/07/2017 14:26

I am literally actually cringing at the thought of being Armstrong and standing and spouting this bilge. It's an embarrassment to the legal profession

He's lucky he's not before Peter Smith or he would have been drop kicked out the courtroom withhi the first 5 mins of these ludicrous submissions

My point about the CV was exactly that ceto. Theybibciousky met him 5 mins ago and have been unable to do any due diligence at all

MrsSthe3rd · 26/07/2017 14:26

Oh yes, good point ceto

CremeFresh · 26/07/2017 14:26

Surely even if they get a cv it will need to be checked out, which could take weeks ! 'Doctors' have been know to fake a cv.

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 14:26

I imagine the nurses are volunteering to try and give Charlie the best care possible till the end. Bless them.

officeshoes · 26/07/2017 14:26

Rita who knows in all honesty, it is supposed to be the last day but now with a new expert in the house ....

Yamayo · 26/07/2017 14:26

The judge said unless something unexpected happened he would make a judgement today.
I guess it depends how long it takes now with the 'expert witness'.
We might need a new thread by the way.

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 14:26

Gard: Court now adjourned to await arrival of the family’s specialist doctor.

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 14:27

What rabbits will be pulled out of a hat next? Confused

Sirzy · 26/07/2017 14:27

The lost time argument doesn't stand given they have had months of "extra time" since the first ruling was made.

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 14:27

Rita judge said he would definitely rule today.

Ceto · 26/07/2017 14:27

LovelyBath, the lawyers on the CG side are acting without charge, so can't throw resources at the case easily. They'll have had to make themselves available for an awful lot of extra work at very short notice. I really don't see how you can suggest they aren't professional or organised.

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 14:27

Will someone start a new thread while the court is adjourned?

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 26/07/2017 14:28

If any of you are following CGF today, how did she frame the judge's comments about 'socialised healthcare' ?
